Olympian Pie

Meat pie for lunch.
Done,
just the way I like it:
Scorched crisp
knock-on-top stiff,
way beyond golden.
Peel off crust shield,
fingers crouched behind -
Hoplite-like*
avoiding scalding
Santorini steam
rising from pie-crater.
Magma-meat
bubbling caldera*
must be put aside
as mouth not quite
cauterized,
yet,
so write poem instead.
When cool
will lava-flow sauce,
red spreading
gloop-covering-ooze,
then dip in trident-fork
and stir,
eager Earth-Shaker*
preparing to
quake-partake
of pie.

*hoplite = citizen-soldiers of Ancient Greece, kind of like our Army Reserve.
*A caldera is a cauldron-like volcanic feature usually formed by the collapse of land following a volcanic eruption. (Wikipedia)
*Poseidon is one of the twelve Olympian deities in Greek mythology. He is called the "God of the Sea". Additionally, he is referred to as "Earth-Shaker" due to his role in causing earthquakes. His symbol is the trident.
