Lies My Hyung Told Me {Part 4}
Yoongi angrily slammed on the breaks and pulled over, then turned the car off. He turned to Jungkook. The two stared at each other in silence. They were both full of anger.
"Oh, I lied to you?! Yes I fucking lied to you and for good reason! What the hell were you thinking, huh?! Why the hell would you sneak into the back of the damn car?! Can you not mind your own damn business for five goddamn minutes?!" Yoongi screamed. He was fighting back tears. He knew this was an extremely bad situation. The only way for him to protect any of his members from the things he did to earn that extra money was for the members to not know, not get involved, not ask questions. He needed to keep the members separate from Namju and Sookin. But now Jungkook knew. Jungkook was there and saw what they were doing and that worried the hell out of him because he knew the two men he was working with could be dangerous if they needed to be, which is why he made sure to not give them any reason for them to need to be.
"Mind my own business?! You really think I was going to believe you were hiding some secret girlfriend?! Hyung I know you've been up to something and if you weren't going to be honest then I needed to find out myself! You've been so exhausted lately and I was worried! We're all worried!" Jungkook screamed back. He wasn't trying to hide his tears. They were spilling all over him. He was still in shock at what he'd witnessed.
Yoongi grabbed the front of Jungkook's shirt angrily and clutched it in his hands. He pulled his maknae towards him and angrily glared at him, "You don't know what you've just done, do you?!"
Jungkook pushed his hyung off of him. "Me?! What' I've just done!? What about what you've just done!? Drugs?! Hyung you're selling drugs?! Since when?! And why the hell would you do that?! You have no reason to need to do that! You realize what it means if you're caught?! You'd be in jail and done with the band!"
Yoongi screamed at him about how he was doing it to help the company after what happened with the companies money. He explained that it wasn't forever, just until the companies lawsuit was settled.
Jungkook froze. "So it's been you? The anonymous money coming in has been from you?"
Yoongi nodded. "And you're going to keep your mouth shut," he warned.
Jungkook gave him a somewhat surprised look. "And if I don't?" he asked. He couldn't believe his hyung was really sitting here trying to threaten him.
"You don't fucking get it, Jungkook. People are dangerous in this line of work and you were supposed to keep your nose out of it! I was making sure that you all kept your nose out of my business so you wouldn't get caught up and involved because I don't..." Yoongi started getting a little more choked up. "I don't...know what will happen now."
"What do you mean by that? What would happen?" Jungkook asked. The screaming at each other had stopped and the two were both quiet now. They were both out of energy at this point.
Yoongi looked at him with extreme seriousness, "I don't know."
He was nervous. If Namju and Sookin were mad about what Jungkook had done, he knew they might decide to try and hurt him. He realized he needed to make sure Jungkook really minded his own damn business now, and he needed to make sure he spoke to the two men he was selling drugs with to let them know that his maknae wasn't going to be a problem, and that he wasn't going to say anything. He would make sure of that, somehow.
"Helpful! What do you mean you don't know?! What would happen Yoongi?!"
"You really want to know?" Yoongi asked.
Jungkook nodded.
"They'll kill you," Yoongi said angrily. He would never let that happen, but he figured he'd use a scare tactic to make sure Jungkook didn't say anything to anyone.
Jungkook froze again in shock as more tears spilled out of his eyes. "What?" he asked. He figured he hadn't heard that correctly.
"I said they will kill you. But as long as you don't tell anyone and stay out of it, they will leave you alone. That is why you need to promise me you won't tell anyone, not even the others. Because if they find out and start getting involved too, then Namju and Sookin will kill them too. And then you'll be to blame." Yoongi knew that was a bit harsh, but he didn't know what else to say.
Jungkook completely freaked out. "Kill me?! They would kill me?! They'd kill hyungs too?! What the hell is wrong with you?! How could you say it'd be my fault?! Everything is your fault! Yours! You knew they were dangerous and might hurt us and you chose to do this anyway?! What the hell kind of hyung are you?! If any of us get hurt it's because of you!" he screamed.
Yoongi revved the car back up and started speeding them home as the two continued to completely scream and argue again over the entire situation. Jungkook was screaming at him that he needed to end this and stop selling drugs but Yoongi screamed at him saying he couldn't yet. He couldn't just leave yet. Not abruptly like he did last time. He actually wasn't too sure how he would step away from that life again when it came time, but he was hoping he wouldn't have to for a while so he could continue to get the bands company extra money, maybe even some more than needed. Just to be safe.
They screamed and fought the entire way home and once they got there Jungkook jumped out of the car and ran to his room. Yoongi sat gripping the steering wheel taking deep breaths before getting out and heading in. It was still nighttime and the others were still sleeping. He was grateful for that at least.
He sat in the kitchen and grabbed some water. While sitting there he could hear Jungkook screaming and crying into his pillow. He furrowed his brows and sighed again. He was at a bit of a loss at what to do.
First of all he didn't need Jungkook's crying to wake everyone else in the house up because if it did he knew they'd be all over him about what was wrong. Secondly, he did feel incredibly terrible. Something that Jungkook said in the car was weighing heavily on his heart. If any of us get hurt it's because of you. He knew Jungkook was right. It was his fault. And he'd tried to pin it on his maknae instead in a way to project his own guilt onto someone else.
He also realized he shouldn't have told his maknae people were going to try and kill him and his hyungs if he said something. He couldn't imagine the kind of anxiety that was going to cause Jungkook. He knew the youngest was scared, it was a hard reality to take in, and Jungkook was the most innocent person he knew which really didn't help.
Aish.
Jungkook's crying wasn't letting up. Yoongi needed him to calm down. He walked into the youngest's room and sat down on his bed. Jungkook was still sobbing with his face in his pillow.
Yoongi started rubbing Jungkook's back to comfort him. "I'm sorry." He figured that's where he could start.
"W...w...whatever." Jungkook hyperventilated through his endless tears.
"I love you a lot you know. That's why I've kept this such a secret. To protect you. To protect all of you. I just...wanted to keep you all safe and away from this. Please know too that I promise nobody is going to come and try to kill anyone, okay? I was just...panicking." Yoongi tried to sound reassuring but honestly he didn't know what Namju or Sookin would do, but he knew no matter what they might have planned, Yoongi wouldn't let it happen.
Jungkook wouldn't stop sobbing into his soaked pillow. Yoongi kept rubbing his back. "Please breathe. Just take deep breaths. Everything will be okay. I promise you it's not forever and we will all be fine."
Jungkook turned to him, "What...what...about...y...you?" he finally choked out.
"What about me?" Yoongi was confused.
"What if they...they...try to...hurt ...you?"
"Aish it's nothing. It's not like this is my first time doing it." Yoongi immediately clamped his hand over his own mouth. Oops.
"What?"
The rapper realized he had dug his hole too deep at this point. Jungkook already knew his secret anyway so he might as well tell him the whole story. He told Jungkook about what he'd done for the majority of his teen years and the maknae was completely shocked at this news. He didn't know how to quite respond. He was starting to feel like his hyung was someone else. Not the Yoongi hyung he'd grown up with. How many secrets did he have? How many times has he really lied about things all these years? He was too exhausted and heartbroken to ask.
"But please, Jungkook..." Yoongi finally ended his little life story, "Please keep quiet. In the end it's just better for everyone if you do."
Jungkook didn't respond. Yoongi got nervous but was glad the boy had at least stopped crying.
"Jungkook?"
Jungkook glared at him and frowned while shrugging.
"Yeah, sure. Whatever."
