chapter three 』

Later that day, TaeTae and I went to the shopping mall. The shopping mall has everything you can dream of or imagine, from items like shoes, watches, iPhones, to milkshakes and makeup, partial to why we are there. The shopping mall also consists of TaeTae's all time favorite store, Gucci.
Despite Gucci being TaeTae's favorite store in the universe, we don't actually purchase or buy anything, because it's outrageously expensive. It's more like window shopping because I know I can get TaeTae whatever item he wishes to have in the store from my mom. Designers from Gucci have samples of their fashion lines so my mom, being at the high rank of power and respect, can grab them for free.
Anyway the main reason we are here at the mall this time is because TaeTae wanted to go to the pet store and play with the puppies. He always wanted a dog since he was a toddler but his parents won't give consent to getting a dog. Thinking the dog would take a piss on the dining table, bark for no apparent reason at two am in the morning, and shed tons of fur wherever the dog step their paws at.
The shopping mall isn't a very long distance apart from my apartment complex so TaeTae and I decided to walk there.
Currently, I am watching TaeTae cooing cutely at one of the smaller, newborn puppies arrivals that was recently brought here. The puppy he was holding in his hands was adorable, and has large, beady eyes, with two of his paws up in the air. His tiny nose was in the shape of a button, and has a furry black, gray, white and tan coat.We spent a few hours here and this dog always cane back to play with TaeTae.
Every time I see that particular puppy perching on TaeTae's lap I can see his smile glow to full extent. The puppy skips and jumps around TaeTae, while sticking his pink tongue out of his small mouth. It makes me smile seeing TaeTae happy.
"Tannie come back!" TaeTae says, as the young animal creates bark sounds and scurries down to the other dogs.
"You have a name for a dog that isn't even yours?" I ask, raising both of my eyebrows at his statement towards 'Tannie.'
"What's wrong with that?" TaeTae replies, putting his hands on his hips, pretending to be triggered by my question by puckering his sweet lips. "He has a full name too, Yeontan Woofsters Tumbler. Tannie is just his nickname."
I laugh at his cuteness. I lean closer to him and rest my chin on his shoulder while wrapping my arms around his waist. Before you know it, the little cutie dog comes back to TaeTae's side, and sniffs all over TaeTae's lap and hands. TaeTae giggles at the at Tannie's actions as Tannie continues to squirm around, pawing at the boy's oversized shirt.
"Hey, TaeTae I think we should get going. I didn't know how late it was until I checked my phone." I say, as I show the current time on the screen of my phone. It was seven fifty four and I could see the night sky bloom as the sun slowly drifts from our sight.
"Bye Tannie!!!!" TaeTae waves goodbye to the little puppy, as he lets the animal roam free from his hands.
"TaeTae are you hungry?" I question, as we exit the pet shop doors together. "We didn't even have dinner yet."
"I'm not really that hungry...We had a really late lunch," TaeTae says, looking up at the beautiful blue night sky emerging.
"Me too, wanna just get some ice cream?" I ask, as I give a slight tap of his chin. "I don't mind paying for it this time."
TaeTae jumps around clapping his hands around the sidewalk and says, "Yayyy! Can I get chocolate chip cookie dough?"
"Of course. Anything for my best friend TaeTae," I say smiling. Chocolate chip cookie dough was TaeTae's favorite ice cream flavor. Mine was cookies and cream. TaeTae thinks it funny and ironic because Kookie is TaeTae's nickname for me.
TaeTae smashes his body into my waist and hugs my tightly, saying over and over a million times, "Thank you Kookie! Thank you Thank you!"
We walk into the doors of the nearby ice cream parlor, named "The Ice Creamy." As soon as we go in to the ice cream parlor, TaeTae hurries quickly to the glass window that showcases the multiple various different ice cream flavors. He starts oohing at the sweet ice cream tubs, with his eyes staring at them, specifically chocolate chip cookie dough.
I'm standing back watching TaeTae from behind and I start to get warm and fuzzy feelings in my stomach. He's so freaking cute. Wait, no scratch that, that sounds weird.
"Can I help you two?" a male says behind the ice cream display. He seems older than TaeTae and I but not too much, and is wearing pink from head to toe, and he also has this big smile on his face.
"Mr. Ice Cream Man," TaeTae says, looking up at the ice cream worker. "Can I have a chocolate chip cookie cookie dough ice cream, triple scoop, with dark chocolate drizzle and rainbow sprinkles on top in a waffle cone please?"
"Of course Taehyung!" the man answers. Then looks up at me and questions, "Would you like anything sir?"
I tilt to the side to see the name tag on the worker's pink apron and says, "SeokJin can I have a double scoop cookies and cream ice cream in a cup please?" Hm I wonder how he knows Taehyung. His name also sounds vaguely familiar but I can't pinpoint who he actually is.
"Sure thing!" SeokJin replies, taking a waffle cone and cup from one of the holders at the workstation. He settles them on the counter as he takes an ice cream scooper hanging on a hook, sliding the little ice cream display window.
As he scoops the chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream for TaeTae's order, he makes a small conversation with us. "I'm surprised that your stomach can handle so much ice cream, Taehyung. You come here everyday to get ice cream from our parlor," SeokJin says, chuckling looking down at TaeTae. Well that answers my question.
With widen eyes I look at TaeTae, who is right next to me on my left. "You come here everyday TaeTae?" I say, repeating exactly what SeokJin had previously said.
TaeTae looks down at the square tiled, black and white floor in embarrassment. He begins to touch his neck with his hand, before forming the next words coming out of his mouth. "Yeahhh," he says, dragging out the last few letters, as pink hues rise at his cheeks.
I laugh at him, as I put my hand through the other's blonde hair.
"Sometimes he gets another ice cream cone too," SeokJin says, laughing. His laugh reminds me of...my mom's car windshield wipers on a rainy day. Interesting indeed.
"This is my part time job, I go to the same school as Taehyung except I'm a senior," he explains. That's probably why he sounds familiar, because he goes to the same school as TaeTae and I are in.
"Well here are your orders!" SeokJin says as he types some phrases onto the computer next to the cashier. "That will be seven dollars and three cents."
I put my hands in my pockets and pull out a ten dollar bill. I hand the cash to SeokJin, as SeokJin opens the cash register to give me change. In a few moments, he hands me the receipt that just printed out, and the change. I take the dollar bills and coins, along with the receipt and shove those things in my pocket.
"Thank you SeokJin," I say as I grab my ice cream cup.
TaeTae is already licking his ice cream, beaming with happiness. His happiness makes me happy.
"Call me Jin instead. Hope you boyfriends have a great rest of your night!" Jin says, winking at me, specifically. What. Did. He. Just. Say?
I don't know why, but instead of getting angry at his comment like I acted with Yoongi or Namjoon, I blush. Maybe it's because Jin is someone I don't know very well. TaeTae seems to have no reaction as he is too focused on his ice cream cone, eating the chocolate chips individually.
"I'm sorry Jin, but we are not a couple," I say. "Have a great rest of your night too! Oh and my name is Jungkook!"
As we exit the ice cream store, TaeTae and I walk down the sidewalk to a park a couple blocks down the road. All of a sudden, TaeTae takes my hand and takes the lead in where we are going. We sit down on a brown park bench, eating our ice cream.
The night sky had fully bloomed, and the bright moon glowed above. It was a very pretty sight as the large trees looked absolutely whimsical and majestic. I could hear the crickets chirping.
The memory of my grandmother with me returned. On that particular night with my grandmother we used her microscope to look at different stars and abstract constellations in the sky. She lived in the countryside where the skies were clear, unlike where I live. When I was younger I always tried to find the brightest star in the universe through the microscope.
Looking at stars and constellations was one of my favorite things I liked to do with my grandmother.
At one point, he takes some of his ice cream with his finger and puts it on my nose. He giggles cutely as I take some of my ice cream and do the same exact thing to him.
"Look at what you did Kookie!" he says, as he wipes off the ice cream with a napkin.
"You did the same thing to me," I say.
Then, TaeTae leans in real close and puts his pink, plump lips onto my nose, taking the once ice cream that was there, away. Suddenly my heart flutters at his action, and I try my best to hide my blush that was attempting to rise to my cheeks. Why am I like this?
"There all gone!" TaeTae says in an adorable way, as he pulls back from me.
He cuddles up against my shoulder and lays his head on it, smiling with a boxy one.
My brain tells me that I don't like Kim Taehyung, but my heart tells me otherwise. My heart tells me I do like Kim Taehyung, but my brain is fighting against it saying it will lead to trouble and me being heartbroken.
Just like what happened two years ago.
I don't even want to think about it anymore. All the love and stuff. It's so confusing. But I can't stop thinking about the little blonde hair boy who has fallen asleep on my shoulder, that is Kim Taehyung.
I look at the sky, seeing its darkness, but beauty all together. I can't see the special, individual stars and unique constellations at all, in this part of Korea, but I know they are shining brightly right now even if I can't see them...
If I know one thing for sure, Kim Taehyung is the brightest star in my universe.
