2: Sam
(Taurtis POV)
I had noticed Mimi was crying. I felt cruel just standing here, spectating her sadness. All I could do was wish for her to not spill tears over her beautiful face. The bell rang, and she looked up, spotting me. She yelped and jumped up, turning towards me and blushing. "What's wrong? Did Sam upset you with his shouting?" She nodded, almost too suddenly, as if she was lying.
We walked with each other to gym class. "STRETCH MAGGOTS!" The gym teacher, Rowan, shouted as soon as we had all formed two lines, one for girls, one for boys. Everyone but Mimi stretched. "MAGGOT. STRETCH." Rowan shouted her, but she shook her head. He walked right up to her, and she made herself seem taller. By now everyone had stopped stretching to witness this. A small girl, on her first day, challenging someone like Rowan? "STRETCH." Rowan growled. "Not unless you stop calling me a maggot. Stop calling everyone a maggot. You maggot." She growled louder, but sounding more sophisticated than Rowan. The bell rang, and after we had changed we spotted Mimi sat beside the wall, drawing. "Whatcha drawing?" Sam asked, going on his tip toes to see. Mimi yelped again, and let the picture slide into her bag. "No looking." She replied, and stood up.
(Mimi's POV)
I stood on the street, waiting for Sam to confirm that the road was safe to cross. Taurtis held my hand tight and even though no cars passed, he said, "Safety first, Mimi." I blushed and looked down. I didn't mind him holding my hand. His smooth hand against my rough palm. That has held so many knives... The voice of doom echoed in my head. 'The voice of doom' was the nickname I gave my conscience. It seemed to be against me in everything. "We're here!" Sam's jolly but annoyed voice broke my thoughts. "Hey, Mimi, wanna play some Gamecrab?" Taurtis asked, breaking our connection before Sam noticed. I nodded. "But Taurtis... you always play Gamecrab with me.." Sam whined. "Sam, respect our guest." Taurtis scolded him in a silly tone. I laughed. "Taurtis... your too funny." I managed between now stifling giggles.
(Sam's POV)
Mimi was stealing my friend, and I didn't like it. I walked into the kitchen, taking a knife out of the rack. She would go for this. I stalked into the lounge, seeing them sit happily together challenged my conscience. I raised the knife over Mimi's shoulder, timing it wrong as she turned around. She screamed and dropped the controller. She buried her face into her hands and started to cry. "Sam!" Taurtis shouted at me, serious this time. Mimi looked up and stared at the knife, her eyes red from tears. She then ran out of the house as Taurtis shouted at me.
(Mimi's POV)
Damn that Sam! He nearly caused me to.. to... Ugh! I came to a stop, realizing I had ran past the school and into a housing estate I wasn't familiar with. I sat on the corner of the street and tried to spot the school. This didn't work. I tried to retrace my steps. That didn't work. I screamed in frustration, investigating each way available to see if any familiar landmarks were noticeable. I ran one way that I was sure was the way back, and stumbled upon the school. Mini fist pump! I ran towards my house, trying to avoid everyone. Especially Sam and Taurtis.
As I sat in bed I kept worrying that Sam would find my location and kill me in my sleep. Like I did to my victims. I screamed at 'the voice of doom' to stop its taunting. I didn't make it shut up. I tried to sleep, but thoughts of the knife filled my head. The twisted part of me had considered killing Taurtis, just for the fun of killing again. I had screamed in my head during those seconds or consideration. I couldn't be too near to Taurtis and knifes at the same time. Or maybe I could kill Sam.
