Chapter 3

Once David made his way into the building, he was immediately blindfolded by a cop that was inside, then guided down the halls to the right. He wasn't annoyed about the blindfold since he knew that eventually he would be able to explore every inch of this place if he wasn't killed first.

At some point, the cop guided him up a flight of stairs. He tried to keep track of where he was, counting and taking note of all the turns and lefts and rights, but that wasn't a skill of his. After about five minutes, David's blindfold was cut off and was shoved into a light grey colored room.

The cop that was with him was now gone with the door shut tight behind him. David tried opening the door many times, and to no one's shock, it of course didn't open. Contained in this light grey box, David sat himself down on the bed that was now his and tried organizing his thoughts.

He thought about what he was going to fight for in addition to his own life. Sadly, he was the exact wrong person to be invited to such a game. He didn't want to commit the crimes he was wrongly put in for.

Then, a shriek echoed outside his room. A female started to scream her head off until someone either duct taped her mouth or knocked her out. That scream was one of anger, not fear, but David would definitely be living in fear until he either died or won.

Jonas was shoved into his room, but he went willingly. From the moment he stepped out of that car, he was a completely different person. He was confident and didn't need anyone. He always wore a smile and found everything either amusing or boring. Those were the only two options and no in between.

Jonas is an actor at heart and nothing should become before that. This game will push him further than ever before, but he will succeed and he will prosper. He will act his way into alliances and do whatever he can to get in the good graces of whoever was ranked first. Whoever he may be, Jonas will make sure to appeal to them.

"So, criminals, now that you're all settled down, I should probably explain this to you now too. Real quick, my name is Scott Davis, I will be the announcer here. You already know that you're supposed to kill each other and be the last one standing. I mean, that's really it. Weapons will be provided to you after tonight. The rooms you are currently in are your rooms to sleep, bathe, and eat if you so wish. A huge rule about the rooms is that no one is allowed to enter a room that is not your own between 9 pm and 9 am. But, I don't think anyone will be getting much sleep," A man, Scott Davis, started explaining over the intercoms. It was the announcer from earlier who did extensive research on him and probably all the other criminals here.

"There are one hundred of you here and thirteen are elite. The top thirteen were on death row and probably the most lethal people in the world. The rest of the eight-seven of you are plain Janes, some common criminals. But, there can be power in numbers. . .I think. . . Anyway, tonight, there will be a masquerade ball. And yes, it's for the viewers. You all are required to come. If you don't, you get killed.

"There aren't rules for this game, but there are rules during this masquerade ball. One: no killing or you yourself will be killed. Two: don't take off your masks until the ball is over. Three: there will be instructions sent to each of your rooms and you must follow it to the nth degree or you will be killed. And four: arrive at the ball at exactly the time printed on your paper, no earlier, no later. Again! If any of the rules are broken, the consequence is death.

"Rules are quite stuffy, but I am looking forward to this evening. Until then, just wait in your assigned rooms. Everything you do from now on will be televised, just a heads up. If you have any questions, you can always talk to me. I am always watching and always listening." And with that, he clicked out.

Scott Davis laid down the rules and expectations real quick. Jonas took a slight liking to him. At least, Scott would be a constant throughout this game. And then, an expensive looking tuxedo with coattails was slipped underneath the door with a piece of paper attached to the top. Next came the shoes, and then a small bag with probably a bit of makeup to make him look better. Jonas quirked a smile and then made to pick up the piece of paper. This would be interesting.
