no matter what it takes

"I'll be here waiting..."

And so it was.

Wooyoung spent the next couple days showing up at San's house at around 9am in the morning and he just sits and waits the whole day until 9pm at night sometimes even later.

San was very much aware of his persistence but he still wouldn't let himself get too close. He would just sit in front of the window and watch as Wooyoung would throw small pebbles to pass the time or he'd pace back and forth on their porch.

Just as he did for the last couple days, San drags a seat to the window and sits down. He looks out at Wooyoung who was now slowly falling asleep on the stairs. His head resting on the tall wooden pillar just by each stair.

His dull purple bangs brushed his eye lids as they slowly slid close. There were bags under his eyes which indicated that he hasn't had much sleep lately. His light pink lips were pursed and a little chapped. San just sat and observed his peaceful sleeping face. Even though he did kind of look like a mess San still thought he was so handsome.

It was about 5pm and it was getting pretty dark as usual so the setting sun helped accentuate his features even more.

"Is he still out there?" San's mom calls from the kitchen as she prepares dinner. The male blinks a few times, snapping himself out of his creepy staring trance.

"Y-yeah. He is" He replies with a stretch and a small yawn.

"Well he needs to go. It looks like it's gonna rain pretty soon here" His mom warns as she glances outside from the kitchen window.

San also looks up at the sky and noticed that rain clouds were beginning to form. It was definitely gonna rain. He looks back at Wooyoung who gets startled awake by a loud thunder cackle.

This makes him sigh with relief. He thought that he'd have to go outside to wake him up but luckily the thunder did so for him.

Wooyoung looks up and notices that it looked like it would rain pretty soon but he remains in his spot regardless.

"What's wrong with him? Isn't he gonna leave?" San whispers to himself, his eye brows furrowed in confusion.

The purple haired boy on the stairs then turns back to look at San's house and San flinches back in fear that he'd be able to see him watching through the window.

When Wooyoung doesn't see any sign of movement from the windows he faces forward again with a sigh. Even though it was about to rain he refused to leave so soon. He shivers from the wind as small droplets of rain made it's way on earth's surface.

Within minutes the small droplets turn into a storm. It began to rain heavily but Wooyoung just sat under the cold of the rain. His clothes soaked and hair matted to his forehead.

Cars drive by and the passengers in said cars would look at him like he was insane, sitting outside in this kind of weather.

Wooyoung bites the inside of his cheek as he looks down to his thighs. Another loud thunder cackles and he jumps again. He'd never been a fan of the rain especially not thunder claps or lightening.

San who was inside and staring at him worriedly let's out a strangled groan then grabs an umbrella that was hanging on the wall. This idiot. What the hell is he thinking?

He slipped on some shoes and rips the door open. "Wooyoung!"

The taller looks back at him and stands up, using a pillar to support his weight.

"Come inside. Hurry!" San urges him holding the umbrella over his head. Wooyoung hesitantly walks towards the door then he enters. San shut the door, sighing loudly, then looks at Wooyoung with an unreadable expression.

"Are you crazy? You could get sick sitting under this intense rain" He scolds and Wooyoung just smiles weakly.

"I know" He replies and San's eyes soften. He looks away from the younger's eyes then begins to walk towards a room.

"Follow me" He calls back to Wooyoung who takes off his now drenched sneakers and follows the shorter.

San opens the bathroom door and points to a cabinet. "Towels are in there. I'll bring some fresh clothes for you to change into in a minute"

Wooyoung just nods and San awkwardly walks off. Wooyoung enters the dainty looking bathroom and looks around before shutting the door behind him. He cringes as his wet cold clothes cling to his body in uncomfortable ways.

He opens the cabinet that San referred to and grabs a brown towel then he rips his clothing off and quickly jumps into the shower. The hot water drives away the cold of the rain from his skin. He had to remember to take a quick shower because he didn't want to waste water and increase San's water bill.

San who was looking through his clothes for something that Wooyoung can wear bites his bottom lip nervously. He's in my house, what the actual fuck?

His mom enters his room with wide eyes and he looks at her in question. "You let him in?" She whisper shouts even though Wooyoung couldn't possibly hear them through the loud sounds of the rain outside mixed with the shower.

"Yeah I did. There's no way I was just gonna leave him out there in the cold" He replies curtly without looking at her, his focus still on putting together the perfect clothing combination.

"Oh I'm not mad just... surprised. He's joining us for dinner right?" She asks and San looks at her with a raised brow.

"He is?"

"Of course he is. Don't be silly" She waves in dismissal then walks out the room and San groans and falls face forward on his bed. He was scared of how dinner would go. What if it ends up becoming awkward and weird. Shaking his head to dismiss those thoughts, he stands back and resumes looking through his closet.

He finally settles on a simple black old band tshirt and grey track pants. He stops in front of the bathroom door with the clothes clutched in his arms and he knocks. "Ah- I have your clothes" He calls out and he hears a few movements from the other side then the door opens.

San's breathe hitches at the sight in from of him. Wooyoung had a brown towel wrapped dangerously low around his hips. His toned chest was slightly wet and his wet dark hair stuck to his forehead in clumps.

God, he's so hot.

San had almost forgotten how to speak. He opened his mouth to talk but nothing came out. His eyes not-so-subtly raked the younger's body. Wooyoung smiles a little at how flustered San got.

"Thanks" He finally speaks up and takes the clothes from San's arms, their fingers brushing. The contact made San's heart jump ever so slightly.

"Y-yeah no problem" He stutters in reply then walks away before he further embarrasses himself.

Once he was in the kitchen he begins to cringe at himself. "I'm such an avocado" He says with a facepalm as he sits down at the table. His mom looks back at him with a look of amusement.

"What? Avocado?"

"It's this thing Jackson taught me, don't even get me started" He says in dismissal as he places his head on the table and his mom just chuckles before turning back to the stove.

"Help me set the table will you" She says and San sighs before standing up and grabbing the table mats as well as dishes to eat on.

They both work in silence before San breaks it again. "Mom, why's love so complicated? It's like calculus but maybe worse" He asks with a pout and she looks up in thought.

"Well it's not love that's complicated, it's we as humans that are complicated and so it reflects on our emotions. I mean, yes, love and relationships are definitely demanding but it's not an impossible feat. Think of love as..." She looks around trying to find something to compare the emotional drive called love.

"...as a plant" She points to the flower pot behind her son. "If you water a plant and give it the proper nutrients it requires, it flourishes right? That's exactly the same as love. Both parties have to contribute otherwise it just falls apart like a dead leaf" She explains animatedly and San just smiles in amusement.

"That made a lot more sense in my head" She laughs at herself then begins to bring the food to the table.

As if on cue Wooyoung slowly walks into the kitchen. He felt as though he was intruding.

"Oh great, you're here just in time. Come join us, we were about to have supper" San's mom offers with a warming smile and Wooyoung looked a bit hesitant. He glances at San to see if he was ok with it. San gives him a hesitant nod and he took that as a subtle invite so he turned back to the older woman who was still waiting for an answer.

"Ah- yeah sure. I'm kind of hungry anyways" He says with a shrug then sits at the table with the both of them.

They began eating and Wooyoung didn't realize how hungry he was until he started literally stuffing his face with food. The table was silent and San found himself staring at Wooyoung as he ate like the food would disappear if he didn't eat fast enough.

His damp hair and sauce covered lips caused the corners of his lips to lift slightly in a smile. Wooyoung felt a pair of eyes on him and so he turned to San who quickly averted his eyes and suddenly found the pattern on the table cloth so fascinating.

His mom who just sat and observed the both of them decides to speak up. "So Wooyoung where are you from?"

"Well I was born in Jinju but I've lived in Seoul for most of my life" Wooyoung replies while wiping his lips with a napkin.

"Jinju hm? That's only an hour or two away" She says and he nods in agreement.

"Do you miss your family?"

Wooyoung stays quiet for a few seconds and San mentally facepalms. Why is she always trying to pry into other people's lives?

"Sometimes. I talk to them when I can. I do live with my grandma in Seoul" He finally replies with a tight lipped smile.

In order to save the atmosphere from becoming weird San speaks up quickly. "Mom tell him about your asshole of a boss"

She lets out a dark chuckle and dusts her hands of food. "Oh don't even get me started on that walking ass wipe" She begins to rant to Wooyoung and he listens, laughing when necessary and speaking when needed.

San smiles to himself as he places a peice of beef in his mouth. If there's one thing he knew about his mom it was that she loved to talk shit about her boss. It was almost like a hobby.

Suddenly San felt Wooyoung's leg brush up against his under the table and he tensed up. He glances at Wooyoung who still had his attention fixed on his ranting mother.

San looked back down at his food but he doesn't move his leg. If anything he inches it closer.
