"San" Wooyoung whispers out from his bed.
No response.
"Are you awake?"
No response.
"Sann!" He whispers loudly this time. San, who layed on the top bunk and was intentionally ignoring him, rolls his eyes and groans out in annoyance.
"What?" He whisper shouts back.
"Are you awake?" Wooyoung asks again.
"Well now I am. What is it?" He replies sarcastically while looking down at the younger from his top bunk. The room was dark and quiet but the moonlight still enabled them to see each other's their faces.
"I can't sleep" Wooyoung says with a pout and San scoffs a little.
"How's that my problem?" He looks at him in disbelief. He's not for real is he?
"Just stay up with me. We could talk about random shit until I fall asleep or something" Wooyoung suggests and San raises his brow.
"We've been talking like all day though" They came back from the mall a few hours ago which meant that they've been together all through that day.
"Yeah, well I like hearing your voice. It's oddly... soothing" Wooyoung says dreamily but then immediately face palmed at what he said. Thankfully though San had layed back down on his bed so he didn't see how flustered Wooyoung got which was odd because he never got flustered especially not when flirting.
"T-that came out really weird" The younger quickly stutters out. San felt his face heat up at the compliment and he bit his bottom lip as a small smile grows on them. He was thankful that Wooyoung couldn't see his face as well.
"Nah. I think you saying it's weird made it weird" San says jokingly at an attempt to stop the atmosphere from becoming awkward.
"Pfft whatever" Wooyoung just scoffs in response.
"So then what do you wanna talk about?" San asks as he turns on his side.
The truth was the main reason why the younger couldn't sleep was because of the conversation he had with San back at the food court in the mall. About how he avoided San's question by lying just so he wouldn't have to tell the older about his pathetic and scarring past.
He seriously thought about it all day and he felt like he was ready to finally tell someone. He couldn't explain why but oddly, he trusted San.
"My last relationship was my first" He says bluntly and San was a bit taken back. He didn't expect that response.
"What?" San asks in confusion.
"Well you wanted to know when was the last relationship I had. It was a few years ago and he was my first"
"Oh... What happened?" San asks with concern.
"He got in trouble and was arrested. He also physically, emotionally and mentally abused me but... strangely I still loved him. He was my world. My reason for existing" Wooyoung says solemnly. He honestly felt sorry for himself. He felt hurt and confused. All those emotions he buried away for years were starting to resurface.
San was speechless as his revelation. Wooyoung? In an abusive relationship? San didn't know what to think of the situation. He always thought that if Wooyoung was ever to be in a relationship he'd be the abuser.
"Your reason for existing shouldn't revolve around one person, much less a criminal" San says in disbelief then soon after realized how insensitive he sounded.
"Aish- you wouldn't understand... I loved him with all my heart but he never loved me back. I said 'I love you' at least a hundred times but he never said it back at least once..." Wooyoung felt tears begin to brim at his eyes. He tried holding it back as much as he could.
"I think.. I think you were just confused. I feel like you were just happy to have someone interested in you and so you thought you loved him. Maybe you---"
"Be quiet" Wooyoung cuts him off, tears finally pouring down the sides of his face. "You don't know anything about how I felt" He chokes out, his voice cracking a little.
San was surprised by the outburst so he looks down at the bottom bunk and sees Wooyoung laying on his side with his blanket over his head. San noticed that his shoulders were shaking and he could hear his soft sobs.
When he notices the younger crying, he jumps down from his bunk and onto Wooyoung's. "Hey... I didn't mean to offend you. I shouldn't have said that.." San says apologetically. Wooyoung only pulled the blanket over his head tighter. He felt so pathetic at that moment.
Why the hell am I even crying? He asks himself but for some reason he couldn't stop the tears. They just kept flowing and his chest hurt. His heart hurt.
"Wooyoung.." San says with a frown as he pulls the blanket back to reveal the younger curled up and hiding his tear covered cheeks. "Hey... talk to me" San pleads leaning on Wooyoung's arm.
The other just hides his face further in his already tears soaked pillow. He didn't want anyone to see him like this, least of all San. He felt weak and pitiful but he didn't want anyone's sympathy. He was beginning to regret telling San about his sad past.
They stay in silence for another minute or two and Wooyoung's cries had decreased to sniffs.
"I'm still here Wooyoung and I'm not gonna leave you. I promise" San whispers out then slides under the blanket with Wooyoung. San begins spooning him but Wooyoung still doesn't move much.
At a point San believed that he'd fallen asleep or something. So then he decides to slowly sit up and check the younger's face. Wooyoung's eyes were still wide open but San could tell that around his eyes were swollen even if it was dark in the room.
Wooyoung turns to him with a blank look on his face and San looks back not really knowing what to say. He'll talk to me when he's ready. I won't force him to.
They continue this 'staring contest' for what felt like hours to San when it really was just a few seconds.
"Do you hate me?" Wooyoung asks out of nowhere, breaking the silence. His voice was very hoarse and broken but it was still enough to make the shorter's heart beat slightly faster.
"W-what? Of course not" San replies. He was caught off guard by the question. He'd admit, Wooyoung definitely made him want to scream in frustration at times but he doesn't hate him. He could never hate him.
"Why? I hurt you. I hurt Hongjoong. And ruined your friendship. You should hate me"
San watched as Wooyoung's bottom lip quavers at the last sentence. San shakes his head in refusal while frowning. "Aish- stop talking like that, you didn't ruin my friendship with Hongjoong. Believe it or not, I care about you Wooyoung. I do. So don't try and push me away"
"Why do you care so much?"
"Because I just do. Look I get it, you're hurt and wounded and as a defense mechanism you put up these walls and block out anyone that tries to get close to you. It may have worked for others in the past but it won't work for me. Let me be here for you... You don't need to tell me any details if you don't want to. Just let me be your prince charming or whatever, as cliché as that sounds"
Wooyoung sits up at this and envelops San in a hug, wrapping his arms around his neck. San hugs him back and rubs his back comfortingly. He soon begins to feel a wet spot on his shoulder. He's crying again.
"Thank you" Wooyoung whispers and San smiles to himself.
After Wooyoung had calmed down again they return to spooning. San has his face buried in the younger's hair. Their legs were tangled under the covers and Wooyoung felt at peace with himself. He felt like a boulder was lifted off his chest.
San suddenly chuckles to himself out of nowhere and Wooyoung raises a brow in question even if the other couldn't see him.
"You know the truth is, I've never actually been in a relationship before" He admits with a sad smile. Wooyoung then turns fully to him.
"Really?" He asks and San nods.
"I lied because... it's a little embarrassing, so I thought you'd make fun of me"
Wooyoung only smiles a real genuine smile and pinches his cheek. San just slaps his hand away. "I know you wanna laugh"
"No I don't. I think it's cute" He says lightheartedly.
San didn't realize how close their faces were until Wooyoung glances at his lips. His heart picks up speed when the younger leans in and places a kiss on his forehead. "Goodnight" He whispers out before turning with his back facing the other.
"Y-yeah, goodnight" He stutters out, a bit shaken up by the peck on the forehead. Within minutes both boys are in a deep sleep.
The next morning Wooyoung slowly opened his eyes, his vision a bit foggy from the sleep and his nose was slightly stuffy.
He heard a couple whispers on the other side of the room and he blinks a few times to clear up his sight.
"I can't believe they actually slept together... I hope they didn't have sex or something while we were asleep" Jongho's voice whispers jokingly. He soon receives a look of disgust from Yunho.
"I hope the fuck not" He whines out in response.
Wooyoung was confused as to what they were talking about. He soon realizes that an arm was draped around his torso and someone was breathing softly on his neck.
He stiffens and slowly turns his head. When he sees the peaceful sleeping face of San all the memories of last night came rushing back and he suddenly felt flustered. I basically aired all my dirty laundry to him last night, he thinks to himself. What the hell was I thinking?
He quietly and gently removes San's arm from around him then sits up with a small yawn.
"Look who's finally awake. Practice starts in 10 minutes by the way" Jongho calls out to him with a wink and Wooyoung just blinks a couple times before realizing what he said.
"Shit. Seriously?!" He exclaims and quickly jumps off his bed. San's eyes flutter open at Wooyoung's raised voice.
"W-what's all the noise about?" He calls out groggily as he rubs his eyes.
"We have have practice in 10" Wooyoung replies not sparing him a glance and just speed walks to the bathroom.
San on the other hand didn't think much of it so he just drags himself off the younger's bed.
Yunho turns to San as soon as Wooyoung shuts the door then he wiggles his eyebrows at the shorter and the other just scoffs, a small smile breaking unto his lips.
"So, you and Wooyoung huh?"
