34. better this way

Wooyoung releases a loud sigh as he runs his hand through his thick jet black hair. The sound of his bedroom door echoes around the empty house as he made his way to the kitchen.

No sign of his parents. And no sign of San. As has been the norm the last week or so.

San had been avoiding him and it wasn't until 3 days in that he realized that the older was actually being serious and wasn't just putting on a show for his mom. No, San really did want to stop seeing him all together.

Wooyoung couldn't explain it but it made his chest burn with anger. It slowly dawned on him that perhaps San was never really interested and all he needed was an excuse to completely cut him off. Yeah that has to be it.

He bit down on his bottom lips so hard and squeezed the plastic cup filled with grape juice, so much so that it caved in a little and spills on his hand.

He sucks his teeth and dumps out the liquid, tosses the indented cup in the kitchen sink then rinsed his hand. I hate him so much but I just-

Wooyoung groans out of frustration, rubbing his eyes and he leans on the counter. "Why can't I stop thinking about him all the time?" He wonders out loud.

Bzz. Bzz.

His phone buzzes in the pocket of his hoodie indicating a text. He hesitantly takes it out even though he wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone.

The next text from the older male was just an address and time. Wooyoung turns off his phone and goes to slip on his flip flops at the door.

He decides to go outside and maybe get some fresh air even if it was for a brief moment. While outside he decides he might as well check the mail box since he was already out there.

The walk to the mailboxes of the respective house on his street was short but he walks slowly to draw it out. Upon arriving there he absentmindedly opens up the slot belonging to his house number then piles the handful of mail and other junk in his arms.

When he gets home he dumps them all on the coffee table for his mom to sort through when she gets home. Just as he turns to retreat back to his room he spots a particular mail with "Yeungnam University" followed by the university's logo printed on the top right hand corner.

Wooyoung hesitantly picks it up and saw that it was a letter for San. The older male's full name printed on it.

Wooyoung couldn't help himself. He quickly ripped it up and took out the letter and as he read his heart sunk deep in his chest. "Congratulations! It is with great pleasure that I offer you admission to Yeungnam University class of 20XX..." He read outloud.

He falls back on the couch with a bewildered look on his face. "No.." He whispers. It's not that he wasn't happy for him, of course he was, it's just that he knew that Yeungnam was hours away in Gyeongsan. Was this really how it was gonna end between them? San would move away and they'd probably see each other like once a year at family get togethers. And that's if he's lucky.

His head hurt at the thought. He stared down at the letter in his hand and without thinking twice he crumpled it up and shoved it in his pocket. He realize he was being extremely selfish but he felt like he's always been looking out for other people's well being. For once let me be selfish..

San wanders inside the house later that night, the silence that greeted him was nothing out of the ordinary. As he sinks into the living room couch, tired from the long day, that's when Wooyoung comes sauntering out of his room expecting it to be his mom but was pleasantly surprised to see San.

"You're home earlier than usual" Wooyoung comments and San just looks up at him with a blank and unreadable expression. The truth is he was taking the time to properly take in Wooyoung's beautiful features. His big brown eyes, soft nose and plump lips. He felt like he hadn't gotten a good look at him for so long because of how often he was out.

Wooyoung feels his heart flutter the longer they stared at each other. He bit his bottom lip and folds his arms. Refusing to falter. "Are you gonna give me the silent treatment now. My mom isn't home. No one is. So the fact that you're still being so cold to me can only mean you actually genuinely just don't care. You just wanna ignore me and hope that I forget everything, is that it?" By the end of his rant he felt his eyes get slightly glossy. Damn it, why do I always get so emotional with him? He curses at himself.

San just stands up, pulling himself right in front of Wooyoung then he slowly leans forward and places a firm kiss on his forehead. "I do care about you Woo. But as a brother should. Whatever we did in the past should stay in the past. Please... you need to move on. I'm not avoiding you because I want to but because I have no choice. It's for your sake..  and mine" He adds the last part knowing it isn't just Wooyoung that missed them.

Wooyoung steps back and away from his hold, red hot anger burning in his eyes. He didn't know what to say. He wanted to curse at him but he also wanted burst into tears. He quickly turns on his heels before the hot tears fell.

The next sound that echoes in the house was his door slamming shut. San flinches a little then pinches the bridge of his nose. It had to be done. Summer was already more than half way over which meant back to school.

Though he hadn't received an acceptance letter yet he knew it'd only be a matter of time. The school was quite far away from their current home here in Seoul. There was just so many reasons why they can never work. So many signs from the universe.

Though his heart hurt a little at their unfair standing.

Wooyoung refused to cry. No it was more like he was tired of crying. Crying made him feel weak and he hated feeling weak. Right now all he could think about was that party in an hour or two. He couldn't wait to drink and fuck someone until San was a distant memory.

He knew it probably wouldn't work but he was willing to try.

He had managed to convince BC to give him a ride. But the older male being the party animal he was decided to tag along to party as well.

When Wooyoung left his room there was no sign of San. Probably in his room ignoring me still. He scoffs under his breath and made his way to the parked black Porsche in front of the house.

Wooyoung jumps in and BC immediately squeezes his thigh. "Hey cutie" The man says with a teasing smirk as he begins driving down the street.

Wooyoung leans on the passenger's door, head turned to BC and a small amused smile resting on his slightly glossy lips. His eyes watches BC's taut muscles flex a little as he turned the wheel. "Hey, thanks for coming"

"Yeah"

The atmosphere was intoxicating.

Wooyoung felt like he was attending a party for the first time again. His eyes lit up as they stepped into the mansion of a home, the music being well heard even before they got in.

Inside was just was insane as Wooyoung had imagined. Multicoloured lights flashed around the space. It was filled with people dancing or making out or both. Wooyoung felt like he was at his element. The excitement already buzzing under his skin and he hadn't even taken a drop of alcohol yet.

"I'm getting a drink" Wooyoung announces to the taller male beside him once he spots what he believed to be the kitchen.

"Ok" BC responds absentmindedly, his gaze already set on someone across the room.

Wooyoung pushes his way through the crowd of sweaty, dead drunk bodies. In the large kitchen was a bar with someone serving up drinks.

He settled on a bar stool and ordered the basics along with all the drinks he couldn't even pronounce. All he was determined to do was drown out the emptiness he felt within.

Hongjoong was not in his element at all. He was extremely uncomfortable and felt his skin crawl whenever someone accidentally bumped into him from behind. But Seonghwa seemed to be having the time of his life so he kept all his complaints in his thoughts not wanting to ruin the night.

They were currently in the backyard where people were lounging around in the party owner's large pool. Seonghwa having discarded his shirt and skinny jeans and did a cannon ball from the diving board. While Hongjoong watches in amusement from the side, only his leg swinging slowly in the cool water.

He resurfaces, throwing his hair back like in those shampoo commercials, and he wipes the water from his face. Hongjoong couldn't help but watch in awe as his skin glistened under the moonlight. God he's so handsome.. he thinks to himself.

And when the dark haired male looks at him with a bright smile, Hongjoong felt his heart skip a beat. "Joong, your turn" He calls out and slowly swam his way towards the shy boy.

Hongjoong was quick to shake his head. "W-what n-no way" He looks appalled at the thought.

"Well if he won't go, I'll go again" One of the older guys hanging inside the pool announces. He pulls away from the girl, presumably his girlfriend, who was clinging to his side then drags himself out of the water.

Seonghwa pays no mind to him. He stops right in front of Hongjoong and between his legs. "C'mon don't be scared. It's really fun" He pressed further.

Hongjoong was absolutely not getting in the water forget about doing a dive. "Forget it. I'm not doing it" He says so firmly that Seonghwa dare not ask again.

Instead a mischievous smile grows on his lips. Hongjoong raises a brow in question and before he could say anything he was suddenly being pulled by the feet. He slides and falls into the water despite still being full clothed.

His eyes widen in shock from the rush of the cold water suddenly surrounding him. "Shit.. S-seonghwa what the hell?!" He calls out in disbelief.

Seonghwa only laughs heartily before flicking some water on his face. "Have some fun. You've been so stiff ever since we got here. Loosen up and laugh for me" He asks with a pout as he pulls himself closer to Hongjoong's body.

If it wasn't for the the fact that Seonghwa had agreed to come with him to that book fair a week ago he wouldn't have been caught dead at this so called party. He releases a long sigh, the corners of his lips lifts into a weak smile. "Ok fine" He announces and Seonghwa returns it with his own bright smile.

Seonghwa wraps an arm around Hongjoong, pulling him closer in the water. Their bodies pressed against each other firmly. Hongjoong felt his breath catch in his throat as he stared up at the dark never faltering gaze of Park Seonghwa.

"I never thanked you for coming. I know you hate coming to these things especially after last ti-"

"It's ok" Hongjoong cuts him off, not wanting to be reminded of the last time he went to a party with him. He'd rather pretend that it never happened. "I'm here now so.."

"Yeah" Seonghwa's gaze shifts to Hongjoong's wet lips. He couldn't hold himself back any longer. He'd been itching to kiss the red haired male all night. This was the long awaited opportunity.

The ravenette dips his head forward engaging in a sweet kiss one that Hongjoong was quick to respond to. His arm flies up and around Seonghwa's neck. Hongjoong had no idea how kissing him always felt like he was having his first kiss. Every single time. As cliche as it sounded, in his head it felt magical.

It's been a week since their little unofficial date at the book fair and Seonghwa has yet to ask him out. Hongjoong wasn't sure if it's because he's not ready to make it official but he himself was more than ready. In fact just the thought of calling Seonghwa his boyfriend.. yeah that gave him goosebumps.

Their kiss increases in intensity and they were soon desperately trying to draw each other even closer. Hongjoong feels the wall of the pool press against his back and Seonghwa holds him still, a hand resting on the shorter's hips. His thumb slowly drawing circles on the soft skin under the water.

A small whistle interrupts Hongjoong's thoughts followed by a "Seonghwa's getting it on already, it's not even 11pm yet" and a couple other people snicker.

That's when Hongjoong remembered they weren't alone. They think I'm just another body count.. He immediately pulls back, his voice caught in his throat.

He tries to put some distance between them but Seonghwa still held him close. "What's wrong?" He asks with furrowed brows. Head dipped slightly to meet Hongjoong's avoiding gaze.

"N-nothing.." Hongjoong forces out. "I want a drink" He says firmly and Seonghwa, who's completely oblivious to the fact that Hongjoong simply wanted to leave that area, nods with a surprised smile.

"Wait you wanna get a drink? I thought you said you don't-"

"I know" Hongjoong cuts him off with a teasing smile. "I'm feeling adventurous tonight" With that he turns and pulls himself out of the water. Seonghwa couldn't help but stare as his wet clothing clung to lean body. The corners of his lips tips up and he follows close behind Hongjoong.
