31. he's ignoring me
Wooyoung releases an exasperated puff of air as he turns on his back, staring up at his phone as well as the several texts he sent. The word 'delivered' stares back at him dauntingly.
"Why isn't he opening up the texts?" He mutters to himself. He turns once again, this time on his stomach, thumb nail caught between his teeth. His legs tangled in his bed sheets.

Wooyoung tosses his phone to the side and presses his face to his pillow, a small pout evident on his lips. He stayed that way until sleep slowly consumed him.
He woke up sometime in the evening. He slowly sat up on his bed, a disoriented look on his face as he looked around him and the window. The tangy orange of the sun setting illuminated the, otherwise dark, room.
"What time is it?" He mumbles to himself sleepily while searching for his phone in his sheets. He finally finds it. 6:58pm it read.
Did I really sleep through the whole day? Even after all the sleeping he still felt so.. tired. He falls back on the bed in a grunt and took a deep inhale as he studied the ceiling of his room. Slowly his eyes began drooping close again, his mind ready to return to the peaceful state it was at a few minutes before.
That's when a loud knock sounds on his door startling him awake again. "Wooyoung, dinner time" He hears his mom call out to him through the door followed by the fading of her footsteps down the hall.
Ah yeah.. dinner...
Dinner was... something. The dead silence that rung in Wooyoung's ears, as he picked up his spoon almost made him crack. San sat opposite him. His mom on his right on the squared dinner table and his step dad on his left.
There was an indescribable tension that lingered in the air as they ate quietly, the only sounds that echoes in the room was the sound of their utensils meeting ceramic plates.
Wooyoung sneaks a glance up at San but said male wasn't looking. Instead of averting his eyes and resuming his dinner he left his gaze on the older boy. He couldn't help but stare. San is undoubtedly handsome as hell. There was something about the way his high cheek bones and sharp features stood that was so attractive to Wooyoung.
He was busy fantasizing about his step brother when memories of his mom catching them in the act rises forward. He wasn't sure what was more annoying. The fact that his mom was trying suddenly acting like she gave a damn what he did or the fact that San actually was doing what she said by ignoring him.
San, who was absentmindedly picking at his food and rolling the peas around his plate, looks up when he feels a pair of deep brown eyes on him. He's met with Wooyoung's expectant yet watchful gaze. The younger of the two immediately flinches and shifts his eyes away after being caught staring.
His body tenses up a little but he slowly meets San's gaze once again. Said male was still looking at him and didn't look away either. But it wasn't any ordinary look. It was a look of want.. of need and... apology?
Wooyoung couldn't quite identify what exactly that 'look' meant but there's no way one couldn't see how apologetic San looked.
"You've got a night shift at the hospital?" San's father breaks the deathly silence. His eyes on his wife as he shoves a large peice of steak on his mouth.
"Yeah that's right" Wooyoung's mom replies. "Wish I didn't have to go though. There's this new patient that's been admitted and damn does she irritate me" She whines. San's dad was quick to laugh but by that point Wooyoung stopped paying attention to their conversation.
He couldn't believe his mom hadn't said anything about... what she walked in on earlier that day. He knows that she decided to keep it hidden provided that they never engage in such an act again but he also knows his mom and he knows she isn't one to keep secrets.
Eventually, to both San and Wooyoung's relief, dinner was over. They both begin taking the dishes to the sink in order to clean up as they always did after every family meal while San's dad stood up with a stretch in preparation to retreat to their bedroom.
Wooyoung's mom eyes them. "Only one of you gets to do the dishes. The other can go back to their room" She stops and announces as she trailed behind her husband.
"Huh? Seriously? We always do the dishes together" Wooyoung was quick to protest.
"And I'm saying I want that to change. Today you can do it, tomorrow it'll be San's turn" She says firmly. The image of both boys... on each other still painfully burned in her mind. She was determined to separate them as much as possible.
"What's the problem, Hyesun? They've always cleaned up together. Let them" San's dad says in his usual calm voice. Wooyoung always thought he would make a perfect asmrtist.
"I just.. would prefer if it was one at a time. Everytime they do the dishes there's always a pool of water by the sink. It's ruining the floors" She looks at him with soft doe eyes. Silently pleading him to back her up.
Soon he sighs and nods in agreement. He shifts his eyes to the brothers. "If mom wants it to be rotational then I guess that's that"
"But-" Wooyoung starts.
"It's ok. I'll start. You can have your turn tomorrow" San immediately turns and begins filling up the sink with water.
Wooyoung closes his mouth, brows furrowed in slight annoyance then he glares at his mom before quickly walking past her. The next sound of his door slamming close echoes around the house.
In the confines of his room Wooyoung flops face forward on his bed and lets out an angry scream. Once he was done cursing into his pillow he turns on his back and stares up at the ceiling. A scowl still on his face.
Hongjoong's light hearted laughter is all that can be heard in Seonghwa's basement. Both males had decided to play a game of air hockey on the game machine Seonghwa had rather than watch TV. One game turned into 5 which turned into god knows how much at this point.
"Yah yah! You can't stop it with your hand! Cheater" Hongjoong points with a laugh. The competitive side of him coming out.
"I didn't stop it with my hand" Seonghwa pouts innocently. He slides the puck to the center of the table where he got ready to hit it. A small mischievous grin later plays on his lips.
"Liar and cheater" Hongjoong got in a defensive position, watching the puck as well as Seonghwa's hand which tightly held the black colored striker.
In a flash, Seonghwa's wrist flicks and the puck goes whizzing towards Hongjoong. Hongjoong was quick to meet the puck with his own striker, effectively blocking it from going down his side into the "goal post".
It bounces back and forth between them for a few seconds. Seonghwa found it amusing how serious the shorter was taking this but he was determined to win. "Yah just let me win already" He laughs at he blocks the puck and sends it sliding back.
Hongjoong smiles brightly. "Never"
"I really like you" Seonghwa blurts out abruptly effectively short circuiting Hongjoong's brain.
Hongjoong's heart skips a beat and he looks up at him with eyes widened a little. "Huh?"
The pucks goes in and Seonghwa wins.
"Woo hoo" Seonghwa throws his arms in the air and does a little dance. Hongjoong just rolls his eyes, his cheeks getting hot at the older's stupid distraction.
"Not sure which hurts more. The fact that I lost or the fact that your distraction actually worked" Hongjoong walks around the table and towards Seonghwa who now stopped dancing and had a triumphant smile on his pink lips.
"Aww" Seonghwa's pinches his cheek. "But I'll say it again. This time not as a distraction. I really really like you" He stresses the second 'really'.
This made Hongjoong's heart flutter. His cheeks burned brighter and he couldn't help the smile that forms on his pouty lips. "You have no idea how happy that make me. But yeah.. I guess I like you too" He says jokingly, shifting his eyes away.
Seonghwa scoffs playfully at him.
