28. yearning

Hongjoong feels the crunch of dirt and the earth underneath his feet as he walked beside Seonghwa. Hands tucked in his pockets as they talked, occasionally laughing at what the other would say.

Just as Seonghwa had described in the car earlier that night, the block party took up a whole street. It was loud and so many people, whom Hongjoong had never met before, were loitered around the street. Some drinking, some skateboarding up and down the road, others making out up against a tree or in their car.

Hongjoong didn't think he fitted in. At all. Seonghwa on the other hand seemed to know everyone. Hongjoong couldn't even count how many times someone had walked by them and hollered out "Hey Seonghwa!" Or "Hwa, you made it".

As an antisocial nervous wreck all he could do was just silently follow the taller, clinging to his side like a lost child. "Hey" Seonghwa's voice suddenly speaks up, startling him back to attention.

"Hm?" Hongjoong hums in question, looking up to meet Seonghwa liquid black eyes behind wispy dark bangs. He felt his heart skip a beat when the corners of his lips lift up in a small small.

"You ok?" He completes, pink lips pursed slightly. Hongjoong felt completely mesmerized by... him.

He nods while returning the smile. "Yeah. Having the time of my life" He didn't realize how forced and sarcastic his voice came out.

Seonghwa sighs then stops them on their short walk down the noisy block. "Doesn't sound like it"

It was Hongjoong's turn to sigh. "I don't know, I guess I'm just not used to this sort of... atmosphere" He looks at a small crowd of people who were cheering on 2 girls who were engaged in what seemed to be a keg stand contest.

Seonghwa didn't get a chance to respond because a guy, who looked to be about their age, wraps his arms around Seonghwa's neck from behind. "Hwa.. thought I'd find you here. Never could turn down a good party" They mutter darkly in Seonghwa's ear, clearly intoxicated. Teeth gently tugging in his earlobe in a way that made Hongjoong's skin crawl.

Hongjoong blinks back in surprise at the stranger's forward behaviour. Seonghwa senses Hongjoong's discomfort and immediately tries wiggling away from their hold. "Sungho.. uhm, not now. I'm kinda busy" Seonghwa says with an awkward laugh, clearing his throat a little. Sungho is one of the... numerous people the older male had slept with. He had hoped to keep this part of him a secret from Hongjoong for as long as possible but he knew it probably wouldn't last very long.

"Now who's this?" Sungho cocks his head to the side as he looks Hongjoong up and down, a look of interest on his face. He keeps his arm looped around Seonghwa's neck despite the older's attempt to move away from his hold.

"A friend" Seonghwa was quick to say. A warning in his voice.

"Now if you lot are gonna bang at least invite me. You know I'm a slut for threesomes" Sungho says with a laugh as he reaches his hand forward in an attempt to caress the side of Hongjoong face.

The red haired male flinches back, a look of horror and disgust in his eyes. Then he shifts his gaze to Seonghwa who looks back at him apologetically. "Sungho, you need to leave. Now" He turns to the drunk male. A furious look in his eyes.

Hongjoong took that time to turn and begin speed walking away, pulling the hood of his black hoodie over his head. This was a mistake. I thought he'd be different. I thought he'd be the one. But he's just like all the rest. Like Wooyoung.. Like Mingi.

"Hongjoong!" He hears Seonghwa yell behind him. But he doesn't stop. This time he wouldn't let himself fall for it again. This time he was glad he'd found the truth before it was too late. Before he'd fallen too deep.

"Hongjoong!" His pace increases when he hears someone jogging to catch up to him.

"Wait! Please" Seonghwa holds his arm and Hongjoong yanks the limb back from Seonghwa's hold.

"So what, you can continue on your conquest to fuck me before the end of the night?!" He yells out. "Is that why you invited me here? Yeah I bet you were so pissed when I told you I wouldn't drink. Bet all you wanted to do was get me drunk then sleep with me. That's it isn't it?" He felt his voice crack a little, his eyes slightly glossy and he mentally cursed himself for being such an emotional person.

"No Hongjoong" Seonghwa's brows furrows in question. "No way, I- I would never do that to you"

"Right" Hongjoong laughs bitterly and turns to walk away. Seonghwa wasn't having it though. He holds Hongjoong's arm once more.

"I'm serious Hongjoong. Fuck. Why- why the hell would you think that? I invited you here because I wanted to. I don't have any ulterior motives, I swear"

Hongjoong could feel himself cave and crumble underneath those beautiful eyes of his. The moon light sparkling in the dark ocean that were his irises. Hongjoong bit his bottom lip, shifting his gaze away. He notices a few wandering eyes on them.

"I wanna go home" Was all he mutters after a few long seconds of silence. He looks up at Seonghwa for a half second then begins his walk back to the car, hands stuffed in the pockets of his sweater.

Seonghwa winces and he felt like kicking himself. Bringing him here was probably one of the dumbest decisions I've ever made.. He thinks to himself as he watches Hongjoong's receding figure.

"We're home" Wooyoung calls out in exhaustion the second after San twists the house key in the lock and opens it. He brushes his messy hair back and falls on the couch, though it just falls back in his face once more.

"Don't think they're home" San announces as he pushes back the curtains in the living room, rays of sunlight immediately streams into the room in waves.

"Great. A few more hours before we get grounded for the rest of our lives" Wooyoung smirks up at San.

"And whose fault is that exactly" San says pointedly.

Wooyoung smiles shortly then pulls himself up to his feet. "Well there's no point staying here. I need to do something and no offense but I'm kind of bored of you. I'll see what BC's up to. Just gotta charge my phone" He mutters as he pulls out his phone from his back pocket then attempts to walk by San.

"Not him again" San groans out as he holds Wooyoung's arm back, bringing the shorter to his chest. "I don't like him Woo. You know that" He says darkly.

Wooyoung was quick to react by twisting in San's grip, pinning him to the wall. "Now since when do I give a damn what you like?" Wooyoung cocks his head, a brow raised daringly and lips in a relaxed line. The slight raspiness of his voice  sending a chill down San's spine.

"I don't think you need me to tell you that whatever... happened between us last night meant nothing. It was in the moment and I said nonsense. Best thing you can do for yourself is forget about it and move on. Ok?" Wooyoung ends with a confident smile.

"It's always 'forget about it and move on' with you" San doesn't smile or look at him with amusement. "Now I don't know how you want me spell it out for you or how many times you want me say it but.. I care about you. More than you know"

Wooyoung's smile slowly falls the longer he stared at San's honest eyes. His hold on the older's pinned wrist loosening. San uses this opportunity to slide his right hand against the left side of Wooyoung's face.

Their eyes watch each other's lips. As if telepathically communicating they immediately leans forward connecting their lips in a hungry kiss. Wooyoung felt a warmth consume him every time they kissed. It was as though his heart was frozen and with each kiss it would thaw.

And how San loved kissing Wooyoung. Loved holding him. Touching him. Being in the same room as him. It was a feeling so suffocating yet so desirable.

Their hearts beat in close synchronization. San's hands on both sides of Wooyoung's warm face and Wooyoung slide his hand underneath San's shirt in order to feel the soft flesh of his porcelain like skin.

"Wooyoung? San..?"

And just like that the sweet feeling of their passionate kiss fizzles out as they hastily break apart, a startled look on both boy's faces.

There stood Wooyoung's mother, dark hair damp as if just coming out the shower. Jaw slack and eyes wide at what she'd just witnessed.

"What. The. Fuck" She calls out. Her voice echoing around the dead silence of the house. San felt his heart drop to his ass.
