25. argument
"Ansan? Are you sure?" San blurts.
The driver nods. "Yeah.. I'm pretty sure. Been driving this route for years so.." He takes in the troubled look on their faces. "Is everything ok?"
"It appears we took the wrong bus" San mutters through gritted teeth as he glares at Wooyoung. "When is the next bus back to Seoul coming?" He asks as calmly as he could.
"Not till tomorrow morning. That's a long drive back. Should be around 6am though"
San releases a long breath. "Thank you" He mutters with a strained smile on his lips.
"Yup. Hey, there's a motel a kilometer or so down south. Maybe you both can stay the night till tomorrow? Looks like we're getting a thunderstorm tonight, wouldn't wanna be out in a weather like that" He laughs at himself as though he cracked the funniest joke. "Anyway, good night you two. Stay safe" He waves at them as he walks off.
"Night" Wooyoung calls back sweetly.
San didn't seem to be in a sweet mood. "What the fuck Wooyoung" He blurts once the man was out of ear shot.
"I'm sorry" Wooyoung says. "It was an accident. I guess I mixed up the bus numbers? I don't know" He shrugs.
"We're in a completely different city Wooyoung! With no money and no way of getting home. Stuck here for another couple hours with a thunderstorm being minutes away"
"I have some change. We can stay at that motel he was talking about"
"No, I'm calling our parents. This is ridiculous" He pulls out his phone and Wooyoung snatches the device from him.
"You can't" He shoves it in his back pocket.
"What?" San was seeing red. He was so angry he could hardly think rationally.
"My mom will literally kill me. As in vaporize me on the spot. And I know for a fact your dad won't sit back and watch me get punished without punishing you too" San opens his mouth to reply but closes it when he realizes the younger male had a point.
"Fine. So what, we just stay here?"
"No, we start walking. If we hurry we can get to the motel before it starts raining"
"Ok. Lead the way" San says with a tired sigh as he runs his hand through his hair.
With that they both begin walking along the barren road, a car driving by them every few minutes. It was a thick silence between them as they walked and Wooyoung could tell San was angry at him. He couldn't exactly blame him.
That's when San feels it. A drop of water from the sky lands on his forehead. Not long after, it starts drizzling. The drizzle becomes a heavy downpour.
Wooyoung tries to shield his eyes from the rain as they speed up their pacing. Their clothes quickly getting soaked and dark hair, wet and sticking to their foreheads.
"Now imagine if I had let you go out on your own. You'd be so helpless" San says over the rain as he wipes water away from his eyes.
"I'd be completely fine. I'm the one with the money. I'm the one who didn't rush to call our parents and get us into more trouble. I'm the one who isn't bitching and whining every five fucking seconds" Wooyoung retorts with an edge of attitude.
"I'm bitching and whining because of your stupidity" San replies almost immediately. Both males were already on edge due to their circumstance. That plus the rain didn't make the atmosphere any less suffocating. "I swear to god you just never think things through. You say and do shit without considering others around you. It's always what do I want? Who do I wanna fuck?"
"What the fuck are you even talking about?!" He snaps back. "What does that have to do with this? You don't know a single thing about me so shut the fuck up" Wooyoung stops in his tracks, a deep angry scowl on his lips.
"I don't need to know. I've lived with you long enough to draw my own conclusions" San replies bitterly. The rain pouring down on both of them. The air tense and an argument about to break out.
"It seems like you've got a lot on your chest so why don't you just say it now. Since it's midnight and its confession time in the middle of who the fuck knows where, go on. Let it out"
San just scoffs at him. "Aish- you are so infuriating. And it seems that no matter how hard I try you always wanna crawl back to some other guy. Especially that BC dude"
Wooyoung nearly bursted out laughing at the random mention of BC. "Is that what this is about? If you wanna fuck me more often just ask. We literally live together"
"That's not it you dumbass!" San yells out. "See what I mean when I say infuriating"
"You're so fucking complicated San. Jesus!" Wooyoung yells back. "There's always one drama or the other with you. I don't want any of your theatrical shit in my life. I don't need it. One second you wanna fuck me the next you're going on about how we're siblings and it's "wrong". And that's only the least of your fucking dramatics.
My life was fine before I met you. I was fine. I fucked who ever I wanted and got fucked whenever I wanted and I loved it. You don't get to come along and dictate who I hang out with. You don't know anything about me."
"You know, I think I figured out why you keep running around with grown ass men" San presses. "'Cause of your daddy issues, am I right?" San retorts mockingly. His need to be petty and snap back at Wooyoung was too great but as soon as he said it he instantly regretted it.
The hurt that flashed in Wooyoung's eyes made him mentally kick himself. Though it was raining San could still tell his eyes had watered up. "You really are a peice of shit. I hope you rot in hell" He mutters in a dark tone before he keeps walking.
"Oh and just so you know, I fucked your best friend. Multiple times actually. It was great. Although he never lasts very long" He says with a daring look on his face then continues walking forward.
"One room please" Wooyoung mutters to the lady behind the front desk as he brushes his soaking wet hair back.
"Do you have enough money for two rooms?" San asks Wooyoung which was the first thing he had said to the younger since their argument under the rain.
"I have enough for one room. You can figure yourself out" Wooyoung says darkly as he pulls out his damp wallet, slaps the money on the counter then took the room key from the lady.
"Straight ahead, last door on the right" She instructs and Wooyoung flashes a small smile then makes his way around San, still refusing to spare him a glance.
"What's that supposed to mean? What, am I supposed to do, stay out here all night?"
"Yup" Wooyoung keeps walking. They arrive at the door and he pushes the key into the keyhole, struggling to twist the old rusty door knob, then eventually pushing the chipped wooden door open.
"Goodnight" Wooyoung attempts to shut the door but San holds it open with his foot.
"Ok look I'm sorry I said all those things. I'm a dick. And I fucked up" He says earnestly. But Wooyoung continues trying to push the door close. Last thing he needed was to start another argument.
"Woo, please" San pleads and Wooyoung pauses then looks up at his sincere dark brown eyes.
Eventually he caves, not having the energy to fight again, and pushes it open for San to enter. "I can't stand you. Every single time I wanna stay mad at you I always end up crawling back"
San shoots him a slightly amused smile. The feeling's mutual... he thinks to himself.
When they were both inside Wooyoung immediately pulls his soaked sneakers off as well as his socks. He cringes at the feeling of his clothes sticking so uncomfortably to his skin. "I'm gonna take a shower" He mutters then made his way to the bathroom.
San sits back on the bed, the hard mattress surprising him a little. He looks around the room, taking in the old curtains draped over the only window in the room and the stained carpet below his feet. Needless to say this was no 5 star motel.
Wooyoung releases a long sigh as the hot water from the shower head ran through his hair and down his body, warming him up from the cold rain. He slicks his hair back before pulling it forward again.
He let his mind drift back to his argument with San. He remembers how much he hated that feeling. That was their first real 'fight' and it was something he never wanted to experience again. He, in general, just wasn't a confrontational person. He hates fighting or arguing.
He wraps his arms around his torso and dipped his head down, the water running into his scalp before releases a long tired sigh.
