8. shy glances

"Mm I don't know. Plans for today? Probably just chill in my suite. I honestly don't really feel like doing anything else" Wooyoung mutters groggily into his phone as he turns on his bed, now facing the window.

The early morning beams stream in through the big windows and hits his face and he shrinks back with an annoyed scowl, pulling the white covers of the bed over his head.

"Who travels to a vacation resort only to never leave their room" Felix's voice projects out of the small device Wooyoung held against his ear. "You're lucky I'm not there, I would've dragged you out by the legs"

"Haha" Wooyoung replies in a sarcastic tone with a roll of his eyes. "In my defense, I didn't really want to come anyways. My step dad dragged me along for the painful ride" He says with a yawn and a full body stretch on his disheveled bed.

"You're dramatic. What about San?" Felix asks nonchalantly from the other side. He was busy running around the kitchen to his apartment trying to put together breakfast before he had to leave for work.

Wooyoung felt his heart skip a beat at the mention of San. "What about him?" He clears his throat when it cracks a little.

"I know you were super anxious about seeing him, everything ok? No more beef?"

"Yeah" Wooyoung's tone wasn't convincing enough so he continues. "We're good" Which wasn't necessarily wrong. They never really had 'beef' just.. a lot of complicated shit to work through.

"Why am I having a hard time believing you?" Wooyoung rolls his eyes at Felix's skeptical tone.

"Don't you have work in like 5 seconds" He diverts the conversation topic.

"Ugh yeah I'm totally gonna be late" There was a lot of shuffling and background noises from his end. "I'll call you tonight. Later" The last thing Wooyoung hears is Felix's kiss through the speaker then the line goes dead.

Wooyoung is left staring at his phone under the blankets. After what feels like an eternity, he reluctantly sits up only to sit and stare out the thin-framed large sliding windows that lined the wall beside his bed. There were curtains for privacy use but Wooyoung had them pushed to the side in other to enjoy the nice view from their floor level.

He sighs loudly after sitting in his thoughts for another long couple minutes. Oh my god, this is so stupid. There's no reason why we should be acting like middle schoolers and avoiding each other. I should go talk to him. Just lay it all out as is and be honest so the air can be cleared and we can actually enjoy this vacation.

"Yeah I'll go talk to him" He mutters out loud to himself and rushes to the bathroom to freshen up, brush his teeth and fix his hair then settled on a slightly oversized white t-shirt and cargo pants.

He couldn't help the tension he felt tightening in his chest but he just ignored it. If he let himself acknowledge any of his nerves he'd just talk himself out of the whole thing.

He gives one last shaky sigh at his reflection in the mirror before heading to the door and pulling it open. He was startled at the person standing in front of him with his hand raised in a motion suggesting he was just about to knock on the door. Wooyoung's eyes widen to the size of saucers because on the other side of his door was none other than San.

"U-uh hi, sorry I.. what are you doing here?" Wooyoung stumbled over his words and fought back the embarrassed redness creeping its way up his neck and cheeks.

The corners of San's lips tugs up in an amused smile at Wooyoung's unusual flustered behaviour. He wasn't used to seeing the shorter this nervous. But he bit back the smirk, stopping it from turning into a laugh. "I just wanted us to talk.. about... stuff" He was intentionally vague but Wooyoung knew exactly what he was referring to. After all, he too was about to head to San's room to have this same conversation.

But he plays dumb. Just because part of him wanted to see San become flustered too. "Stuff? Like what?" He looks up at San with an innocent look on his big dark brown eyes. A look that did something for San.

San had a dark look in his eyes as he stares back at Wooyoung, his brow arches as if to say 'You really want to act like this?'

This forces a chuckle out of Wooyoung as he shifts his gaze away from the intense eye contact he and San had going on. San smiles wider as he watches him, a certain glint in his eyes. "Are you gonna invite me in or we just going to keep standing at the door"

Wooyoung pulls the door wider allowing for San to walk past him. His manly scent wafts up Wooyoung's nostrils and warmed up his whole body in way he couldn't describe. It was a scent so familiar. He turns around after gently closing and locking the door.

San was seated on the love seat near the window, the dark green short sleeved button down he wore wasn't buttoned up all the way and exposed a dangerous amount of chest. Wooyoung forces himself to find something else to focus on.

He hops on his bed rather than sitting beside San, keeping a good amount of distance between them. "To be honest, I was just about to go see you"

"Guess we were on the same wavelength, more or less"

"Yeah"

"So..?"

"So.." Wooyoung trails off. "You go first" He nervously plays with the hair elastic he often wore around his wrist for times when his hair annoyed him and he wants to pull his bangs away from his face.

San watches Wooyoung's facial expressions for what felt like forever before he finally speaks. "Do you still have... feelings for me?" He gets straight to the point. Wooyoung almost winced at how forward he was but he knew it was something that needed to be brought up anyways.

He pretends to think about it for a bit but he already knew the answer to that. "No, I don't. Not anymore" He forces out the lie and bit his tongue out how wrong it sounded coming out of his mouth.

San seemed to visibly shrink in his seat but he covers up his disappointment with a fake sigh of relief. With how indifferent Wooyoung looked when they saw each other yesterday at the airport he suspected the younger must have moved on and no longer harboured any feelings for him. And now he's just confirmed his suspicions. It hurt. It hurt because all these months all he could think about was Wooyoung and how his heart aches for him. How his body... craved him.

But he swallows his hurt and sits up in the love seat. "That's good... I'm all clear over here too" San scratches the back of his neck with a light laugh.

Wooyoung nods with a half smile. "That's good. I know it's still a bit awkward right now because of all that went down but I just want you to know that I obviously still care about you, ok?"

San nods and smiles at him with mild amusement. "I care about you too" He stares at him in a way that made Wooyoung's stomach flutter. It's a look Wooyoung noticed he'd also gave him last night on the balcony. It was intense in an inexplicably... sensual way. And fuck did it kinda turn him on.

He looks away, falling back to lay on the bed with his hands over his face. He groans out which only comes out muffled.

"What is it?" San questions.

"It's kinda embarrassing" He shakes his head and mutters out past his hands. All Wooyoung hears next was San shifting before standing up and walking up to him on the bed. He peels his hands off his face to see that San stood in front of him with a somewhat intrigued look on his face.

"Tell me" He presses. Wooyoung presses his tongue against his inner cheek and his face turns to a flushed pink.

San eventually sits beside him on the bed, one leg folded on the bed the other dangling off the side. "Wooyoung..."

"Ok ok, don't laugh. Promise?" Wooyoung sits up, giving San a side glance.

"I promise"

Just then Wooyoung's phone rings loudly from where he left it on the bed. He releases a small sigh of relief as if glad about being spared the opportunity to embarrass himself.

He digs through his messy sheets and pulls out his phone. 'MinMin✨' the caller ID read. Wooyoung turns back to San who was already pulling himself up to his feet. "I gotta take this" Which wasn't necessarily true. He had the option to send Mingi a text letting him know that he'd call him back later but he used the opportunity to push back this entire conversation for just a bit longer.

San narrows his eyes at him before grinning in a playful manner and turning towards the door. "Sure, we can continue later"

His hand hovers over the handle of the door for a moment before he looks back at Wooyoung. "Y'know, you're different somehow. Like really different. And I'm still trying to understand why you had this side of you hidden because I think I'm liking this Wooyoung"

It was Wooyoung's turn to narrow his eyes at him. But before he could say anything San was already out the door leaving him to silently digest San's comments to his phone ringing in the background.
