15. the morning after
San felt a cold morning chill run over his naked back and he sleepily and groggily pulls his covers over his shoulders to try and lull himself back to sleep.
The scent of his pillow was strongly reminiscent of Wooyoung's favourite berry scented shampoo. He remembered the scent because that was what he would sometimes use over the summer last year simply because it's an aroma too heavenly not to use. Though he figured he must just be imagining it. The thought of Wooyoung almost immediately opens up a gate of foggy memories from the previous night and his eye snaps open as a wave of dismay surges throughout his body.
He turns around on what he came to realize was actually Wooyoung's bed in his suite. The room was quiet. Dark, due to the curtains of the large windows pulled closed. And no sound came from the bathroom either. Presumably? Wooyoung isn't here.
He sat up slowly and still a little drowsy with sleep. If he wasn't ass naked and tangled underneath Wooyoung's sheets he probably would've assumed maybe he'd dreamt up the whole thing. That maybe it was some wildly vivid wet dream but if his nakedness and sore thighs were any indicator it suggested all that happened last night really did happen.
But Wooyoung was nowhere to be seen. He didn't give himself time to think rather he swung his legs over the side of the bed in search for his clothes. A haggard yawn forces it's way past his chapped lips as he run his hand through his messy morning-post-coital bed head. His clothes were neatly folded on the ottoman near the foot of the bed.
Something he definitely didn't remember putting there. They were too occupied with ripping each other's clothes the previous night like touch starved porn stars to have had time to fold up their clothes like this.
San was dressed up in no time and he tries to open up his phone with an immediate goal of texting Wooyoung. To his disappointment, he'd ran out of battery sometime in the middle of the night. He then beelines for the door.
There was a ringing in Wooyoung's head taking up space for any other thought and blocking out every and all sounds in his ears. He stared at nothingness without blinking, not once, for what seemed like a good couple minutes but we're really just long seconds.
"W..."
"Wooy..."
"Wooyoung!" Felix's voice cuts clean through the ringing like a hot knife and Wooyoung sits up abruptly blinking repeatedly as he looks back down at his phone which was propped up against the salt and pepper shaker at his booth.
He'd woken up early that morning, saw San naked and fast asleep in his bed, panicked and left the room as quickly as he could. Not knowing where anything was in this unfamiliar city he walked a mere 8 minutes before stumbling upon a breakfast diner wherein he decided to FaceTime his two closest friends, Felix and Mingi if only to distract himself for a couple hours.
"Did you even hear anything I just said?" Felix brings the camera close to his face showing dark furrowed brows and freckled skin.
Wooyoung plays with the cord of his earphones as he nods. "Yeah. I heard"
"What'd I just say then? I've been talking for like 10 minutes" This reply causes Mingi to chuckle. The rich depth of his laugh tickled Wooyoung's ears. Both Mingi and Felix looked to still be laying in their beds for what could be described a lazy Sunday morning.
Wooyoung grimaces. "I'm sorry I just- kinda have a lot going on" He presses his closed eyes against the heels of his palms and he leans forward on the table. He heaves out a deep breath but kept his eyes covered.
"What do you mean?" Felix turns on his side on his bed. His black hair scatters across his forehead so he uses one hand to run through the jet black locks while holding up his phone with the other.
Wooyoung thought about telling them the truth. Well, not the whole truth. "Promise you guys won't laugh?" He looks up after groaning and running his hands over his face then up through his messy hair.
"Promise. What is it?" Mingi perks up a little, with genuine interest on his face. Like whatever Wooyoung was about to say was going to be the most important thing he'll ever hear.
"S-so there's this guy I used to kinda fuck around with in Seoul-" Wooyoung bites his bottom lip as an embarrassed blush creeps up his cheeks. He was no stranger to sex talk with Felix. But he'd never talked about things of that nature with Mingi. It always felt weird. Uncomfortable maybe? Mostly because he was afraid once the tall male knew what kind of person Wooyoung is like, the one that could easily go through more bodies in a week than most people go through in 2 years, that he'd view him differently.
But it's not like he could tell Mingi to go away so he could speak only to Felix so he figured, "to hell with it".
Felix nods in slow understanding at Wooyoung's words but Mingi's brows crease and his eyes narrow with confusion. "Wait what do mean by 'fuck around with'?" Mingi questions.
"He means they used to literally fuck around. Like sleep together" Felix elaborates for Wooyoung before he could even open his mouth. Wooyoung sighs loudly and his hides his flushed cheeks with both his palms as he lean's forward on the booth table. Mingi's eyes widen and his mouth forms a small circle as a quiet "Oh" leaves his lips. The 'oh' felt a sucker punch to his gut.
"Well what about him?" Mingi carries on with zero judgement in his voice nor on his facial expression. Wooyoung would be lying if he said he wasn't expecting Mingi to react a lot more differently than that, nonetheless he continues with his story.
"We kinda had a friends with benefits thing going for a while. Uhm- then it turned into something more..." He looks way from both of the faces stacked on top of each other on his propped up phone. "We decided to just split ways because he had a new job opportunity in a different city. He never told me where though"
"Wait let me guess, he's there in Gyeongsan?" Felix chimes. And Wooyoung nods while he bit his inner cheek hard, the pain felt remedial. Wooyoung noticed a shift in Mingi's expression when he looks up at the phone. For a very quick second he looked pained? But that look disappear just as quickly as it appeared. And Wooyoung thinks he might've imagined it.
"So... did you guys talk?" Felix kept his eyes fixed forward and on Wooyoung.
"Yeah. We talked.." He picked at his nails guiltily, "Then we kissed and then we..." He trails off. It only takes half a beat for Felix to mentally complete the sentence for him.
He gasps loudly. "You did not" He sits up in his bed with a giddy grin stretched out on his chapped pale pink lips. "You guys fucked?"
"Last night" Wooyoung restlessly leans forward on his arms again, resting his cheek in his palms.
"So.. how was it?" He wiggles his brows.
Wooyoung tries to fight back a grin of his own as memories of the literal toe curling sex plays back in his head like a slide show. The way San took care of him, kissed him wildly till his lips were swollen and left hickeys all over his body, ate his ass out til he was cumming hard and begging him to stop, sucked his dick then fucked him crazy in several different positions. God, it was so good. More than good. Easily the best he's had in months.
"It was ok" Was all he says while pulling at the sleeves of his black oversized hoodie. All he had were hoodies to cover up his marked up neck and collarbone.
Felix arches a brow but kept his shit eating grin. "Well ok thennn" He giggles. "You just said you guys are into each other so why do you look like you're about to self detonate?" Felix says with a chuckles.
"We are into each other. I think. It's really complicated I don't know" He covers his face as another frustrated groans rips past his vocal chords.
"But you like him, right?" Mingi joins the conversation for the first time.
Wooyoung doesn't say anything for a beat then he nods yes with his face still covered. He wholly believed that he more than just 'likes' San. But he didn't know where they stood. Especially after last night. And then him running away this morning to avoid the awkward conversation he knew would follow.
"If you like him, then you should go for it. People make long distance relationships work all the time. And Gyeongsan isn't that far away from Seoul anyways" Mingi advises.
Felix nods in agreement. "Yeah he's got a point. Clearly you're into the guy so what's the issue? Does he not feel the same way?"
The issue is that he's my stepbrother and we can't be romantically involved no matter how reciprocated our feelings are for each other. He says in his head but dares not say it out. He thinks about how his mother reacted. And how San did everything in his power to stop his father from finding out too.
"He hasn't come out to anyone. And his parents are both huge Christians and... homophobic" Wooyoung blurts the lie before he'd given himself time to think it over and make it sound a bit more cohesive with his earlier story.
"Oop" Felix cringes at the new piece of information, "Not the religious homophobic parents" He fake gags. "Woo love, you should do yourself the favor and leave him. I've dealt with a guy like that before and it didn't end well. I get that everyone is on their own clock but like, if he doesn't intend on telling any of his friends or family he has butt sex with other men there's no point in him stringing you along just to be his down-low fling. Cut the bitch off. You deserve better"
Wooyoung scoffs at his bleak suggestion. He's tried the 'cut him off' method already. For a year. And it only left him missing and craving San even more.
"Honestly, to me anyone is better than that walking trash can Matthew" Felix continues as he pulled himself out of his bed. Wooyoung wanted to speak up to defend Matthew for whatever reasons he may have but even he found himself agreeing with Felix.
"Felix, when's your flight to Australia again?" Mingi changed the topic after staying uncomfortably quiet for most of the conversation.
"Oh yeah I was gonna bring that up. I leave Tuesday night" It looks as though he's walking somewhere while holding the camera and pointing it upwards causing his ceiling to be on the display. "Ah, can't wait to see my mom. And I guess Liv and Rach too" He adds the last bit jokingly. Olivia and Rachel are his sisters.
Wooyoung chuckles a little. Just when he's about to say something a voice startles him by calling out his name. "Wooyoung?" He snaps his head towards the owner and immediately felt something prick at the back of his neck.
Yunho cocks his head to the side as a leery smile pulls at the corners of his peach colored thin lips. "It's Wooyoung right? San's brother?"
"Step brother. Yeah. And you're... Yunho?" Wooyoung winces as he pretends to try recalling the older male's name even thought he knew exactly who he is.
"Yeah" He leans on the table of the booth Wooyoung was sitting alone in. He looks at the barren surface with a raised brow. "So, why are you here alone so early on a Sunday morning?" He nosily peeks at the boy's phone.
Wooyoung shrugs and raises up his phone a little before saying, "Just talking to some friends"
"Who is that?" Felix repeated asks Wooyoung who still had his earphones in his ear. And Wooyoung almost pulls the small device out of his ears just so he wouldn't have to hear him speak.
"It's Yunho, San's friend" Wooyoung says with an exasperation laced in his voice. At the same time he lifts his phone and faces it to the tall boy standing next to his table so they could see each other.
"Yunho you probably don't care but the loser at the top of the screen is Felix and bottom is Mingi" Wooyoung briefly introduces the three of them. Felix gives a short wave and Mingi just greets the tall boy with a coy smile.
Yunho smiles back. Oh, he's kinda cute. Yunho couldn't stop his brain from conjuring that thought.
"It's nice to meet you guys" He says. Felix says something but because Wooyoung still had his earphones plugged in which meant Yunho wasn't able to hear a word of what was said.
"Felix said it's nice to meet you too" Wooyoung turns the phone back to himself. A small loose smile stretched on his own lips. He didn't have an issue with Yunho. Why would he? He didn't know the first thing about him. And the fact that he and San seemed to be involved with each other to some degree really wasn't enough reason to dislike him. Though he'd be lying if he said his mere presence in San's life didn't annoy him. He wondered what they really are to each other, San and Yunho.
"Are you... getting something to eat?" Wooyoung asks warily when he sees that Yunho wasn't making an attempt to walk off.
"Yeah. I have this uh summer internship like 2 blocks from here. Just wanted to grab a sandwich and coffee on my way" He says with that charming and magnetic voice of his. Smooth with a slight deep baritone to it. His natural dark hair was a reasonable length and parted in the middle. Cheeks a flushed pink hue against the milky canvas of his glass skin. His pink pouty lips were almost heart shaped. Thin but still had a good amount of fullness to them to fit his face perfectly.
Honestly, Wooyoung could see why San would be into him. He's handsome. Like college k-drama male lead handsome. And that only just added to his earlier point of feeling annoyed.
"An internship? What about?"
"I'm a theatre and visual arts double major. There's a lot to my field but I basically work closely with script writers and directors for plays and a lot of indie movies. Stuff like that. Don't wanna bore you with details" He laughs a little.
Of course he's a theatre major. Wooyoung nods in understanding. Just then someone calls out Yunho's name with his order of an egg sandwich and a medium cup of coffee. Double expresso.
After he grabs his food he returns back to Wooyoung's table for a moment. "Did you wanna exchange numbers by any chance? If it's weird just ignore I asked" He winces a little. And when he sees the somewhat hesitant look on Wooyoung's face he quickly adds, "I promise I'm not like trying to hit on you or anything. I figured it'd be cool to get to know you better since San's a good friend of mine"
A good friend huh.
Wooyoung nods with full understanding. "Yeah no I get that. Uhm..." He looks back down at his phone remembering that he was still on a 3 way FaceTime call with Felix and Mingi. "I'll call you guys later yeah?"
"Sure" Mingi says.
"Well ok Wooyo, get it then" Felix laughs. "How do cute guys keep falling in your lap, it's so unfair. I must be doing something wrong" He jests.
Wooyoung just rolls his eyes at him and ends the call before he has a chance to say something out loud and embarrass himself in front of Yunho. He then opens up the dial pad in his phone and slides it towards Yunho to type in his number.
They quickly exchange numbers and Yunho was soon on his way. Even after he'd left, Wooyoung remained seated with his own thoughts if only for a short moment.
That didn't last very long though because his phone buzzes on the table, startling him a little. But his heart didn't leap quite as high as when he looked at the caller ID and read San's name.
