She was sitting in a corner stool bent over,
When I entered the library quietly.
I wanted to go and introduce myself,
And ask her what she wanted politely.

Just when I turned to look at her,
Her wide eyes met mine briefly,
The wrinkles on her forehead unfolded,
As she smiled at me brightly.

" Oh you're here," she said dreamily with a grin.
A warmth rose to my cheeks, I felt my head spin,
I was drawn to her beautiful personality.
I couldn't get caught up, I had to do my duty.

I returned to my seat and started typing on the computer,
I couldn't focus, I messed up a letter with a number,
I didn't know why my mind was running amiss,
I had to do something to put an end to this.

I had to go upto her and introduce myself,
To accomplish this, confidence I built,
I got up immediately and adjusted my shirt,
Wondering about what I was going to blurt.

Walking slowly I closed the distance between us,
"Hey, you seem to be lost, what's the fuss?"
" Oh nothing, I am just looking for a book!"
" Oh really?" I teased giving her a look.

She shifted her gaze away from me.
"You know I was kind of worried, you see.
You just disappeared the other day
I dont know what you want me to say."

Her words sped up the beating in my heart,
She actually cared, wow that was a good start.
" Hi! I am Krish!" I said, holding out my hand."
" Come on, would you like to be my friend?"

" I know!" She laughed pointing to my name tag,
She fiddled with the strap of her tiny hand bag,
" Of course!" She said. " It's friendship day!"
" Let's make the most of it today!"
