Chapter 12: Third Murder
I got up and did my morning routine. Of course now of all days I decide to by a lazy a*s. I still got my s*it done and waited for Kokichi outside my door. "You look rough this morning." He said. I grumbled 'I'm tired' under my breath before snuggling into his scarf in cat form. He and Maki met up then went to Shu's door. Once he let them in Maki commented on how he looked like he just woke up. "I did just wake up." He said. I facepawed and got off of Kokichi's shoulder and reverted back to normal all of my tiredness forgotten. "Do you seriously wake up to the morning announcement?" I questioned. He nodded. "Strange. I wake up like an hour beforehand." I said. Maki and Kokichi nodded. "YOU ALL WAKE UP THAT EARLY!?" He shouted. "I technically don't need sleep. Sure I get tired but I'd rather not look as pale as a ghost." I said. "So you're just a very lazy vampire." Maki said. "That sums it up." I said with a laugh. Kaito then popped up behind us making me jump a little. "We need to stop the ritual!" He said with determination. I sighed. "I said I'd handle it geez." I grumbled. "I brought him for back up incase your approach doesn't work. Who better than Kaito for a non straight forward approach?" Maki questioned. "That is true." Me and Kokichi mumbled. "So I take it he's up to speed on the situation?" Kokichi questioned. "Yep! Maki Roll informed me all about it." He said. I snickered at the nickname and Kokichi just covered him mouth and tried to contain his laughter. Maki shot us both some nasty glares. After that we talked for a bit. Shuichi revealed Kaito's dislike of ghosts and what not. "Dude. I am an immortal freaking vampire! You're scared of freaking ghosts yet you don't even bat an eye when I'm near you!" I said throwing my arms in from of me. "I think someone's jealous." Kokichi said. "I'M NOT JEALOUS OF SOME WANDERING SPIRITS!" I shouted in outrage. "Geez, the reason I'm not scared of (Y/N) is because I know she's not gonna hurt me. She wouldn't take action against any of us unless we attack first right?" Kaito questioned. I sighed. "I wouldn't take action unless you attacked me first, Kokichi first, or if Kokichi told me to attack you. In other words I would only attack in self defense or if it was an order." I said. "So that's why you didn't do anything to me when I went after Kokichi. You just held your scythe in a defensive manor to protect him and yourself." Maki said. I nodded. "Geez. Can we get going already. I'm sick of small talk." I growled. "Right." They all responded. We all headed for Angie's lab as fast as possible. Well me, Maki, and Kokichi had to slow down for the other two. But when we passed by Korekiyo I could've sworn I smelt blood on him. After that I was on high alert and instinctively sped up faster than the others. "(Y/N) slow down!" Kokichi shouted. A dark feeling of dread grew in my stomach as I got closer and closer to Angie's lab. I found Himiko in front of Angie's lab. "Oh, hi (Y/N)." She said in her normal lazy tone. But the sharp scent of blood hit my nose before I even knew it. "H-Himiko...Can you ask Angie to come out for me?" I asked the small girl. "Nyeh, I would if I could. I've been trying to get her to come out for a while now but she hasn't responded." She answered. All color drained from my face. By this time the others had arrived just as I got down on one knee in front of the door knob and started fumbling around my uniform. I got out my lock picks and worked on the door. "Whoa, what are you doing? Himiko's a Student Council member. Can't she just ask Angie to come out?" Kaito questioned. I looked at the others fear visible in my eyes before returning to the door. The others asked Himiko what was going on and she told them what she told me. Shuichi, Maki, and Kokichi understood immediately. "(Y/N)! Do you smell blood!?" Shu asked frantically. "Yes! Also God d*mn this stupid door!" I shouted in outrage. Kokichi bent down next to me and told me to give him the lock pics. I gave them to him and he got the door open in no time. After that I flung the door open and looked upon a horrible sight. Not only were the wax effigies hung up by the ceiling but Angie laid on the ground. Cold, lifeless, dead.
The body discovery announcement played. Once everyone came in. "...Let us pray for Angie." Keebo said once everyone had somewhat recovered from the shock of seeing her dead. I got to work and pulled out my pencil and notebook. I looked at the body and noticed the small piece of tape under it. I dabbed my finger in Angie's blood. It was somewhat dry. I got a quick few sniffs in. I got up and started sniffing around everyone without them noticing. They were to busy with their conversations. Kiyo...he smelt like Angie's blood. I went back to investigating now that I had the Monokuma file. But I had a sad look on my face. They continued to gibber jabber as I investigated. Tsumugi said something that caused Kaito to freak out so he had to leave. Kiyo convinced the others to hold the Cadged Child seance. I got up since I had finished looking at everything in the room and had already painted a picture of how this locked room mystery was made. "I help out with the ritual. I've seen it preformed multiple times in the village." I said. Kiyo nodded and Keebo, Himiko, Kokichi, me, Kiyo himself, and Tenko all started getting the ritual ready. Kokichi went off to go and get the white sheet since we forgot to grab it. When he came back Shu was with him. "So it seems we have to many people." Kiyo said. After that we kicked Keebo out since robots and ancient rituals don't mix much. "We still have one to many people." Kiyo said. "Actually as long as they don't interfere or step on the magic circle anyone can watch. These things were very common at the village so many people tended to watch when someone summoned a spirit." I corrected. "Keheheh. I see." Kiyo said. "Very well. Shuichi you can watch but please do not interfere with the ritual." He said. "R-right." Shu stuttered. "So now we need a spirit medium. I think it should be one of the girls since Angie was female." Kiyo said. Something seemed odd to me. I've seen this ritual performed and never once did you have to match the gender of the spirit medium with the spirit you wished to contact. As an Anthropologist surely he knows this. I had my thinking face on. Then it clicked. If Kiyo is the one who killed Angie then contacting her spirit would be bad for him. This is a trap. More accurately, a murder plot. I smirked and before anyone could volunteer. "I volunteer as tribute!" I said. "Huh?" The others questioned. I snicker slightly at my own reference. "You need a spirit medium so I volunteer." I said. He seemed to catch on to what I was doing. "(Y/N) I don't think it would be the best idea. I'm not sure if a ghost would enter a vampire's body." Kiyo said. I waved my hand dismissively. "Oh don't worry about it. I used to be the spirit medium all the time back in the village." I lied. He growled lowly, only I heard it. I smirked seeing how I have him backed into a corner. If he refuses without a good reason then he'll look suspicious. I turned to Kokichi. "Just let me hand off some of my stuff and I'll get in position." I said. I walked over to the smaller male and took off my scarf. He seemed shocked at this. I tied it around his wrist tightly and handed him my knife and a pair of handcuffs. I'm always prepared. I leaned in closer to him while the others were busy getting everything else set up. "Keep my scarf safe for me." I said. Then I lowered my voice. "When the lights flicker on apprehend the person that looks suspicious in that time, weather it be they're away from their corner or if the start acting panicked. Don't start freaking out." I said. He nodded seeing the serious look in my eyes. He clutched the knife and held the handcuffs tightly. I ruffled his hair a little then smiled turning back to the others. I carefully made my way into position. Kiyo nodded and started getting everything else ready. The cage, the sheet, and finally the dog statue. The candle light was turned off and the singing started.
I waited silently in the black cage. My heart started pounding in my ears. I took a few silent deep breaths and calmed myself. Don't panic. You've got this. I thought. The calm yet creepy melody somewhat calmed me but also caused all my senses to be alert. Then...*THUNK* I was shot up and felt something sharp pierce my neck. Yep! If I was human I'd be dead! I thought wincing in pain. Wasting no time I snapped my fingers weakly lighting the candles once again.
~Shuichi's POV~
The moment the light came back on I was confused. Kokichi shot out and pinned an unsuspecting Korekiyo to the ground. He used (Y/N)'s handcuffs and cuffed both of Kiyo's hands behind his back and held the knife against the taller males neck to prevent him from struggling. "Don't move an inch. I won't hesitate." Kokichi growled. His voice was menacing. It was commanding but fear inducing at the same time. He had a fierce glare on his face too. One we had never seen before. He looked at us his glare not as threatening but still commanding. "Get the cage off of (Y/N)! NOW!" He barked. None of us questioned him as we launched forward and got the dog statue off of the cage and tipped it over. (Y/N) was laying on the ground in pain, bleeding out from the back of her neck. "Okay. That...hurt a lot more than expected." She said. "(Y/N)!" I shouted fear in my voice. "Don't worry. I'm immortal so I'll heal up here in a minute." She hissed a little in pain. Kokichi hadn't let his glare leave Korekiyo's figure. "Are you alright? Where are you hurt?" Kokichi asked concern lacing his tone. "D-don't worry about me...It's just a puncture wound to the back of the neck...nothing I can't handle." She said her voice getting a little weaker as she sat up slowly. "Oh, ouch. That did a number on me huh?" She questioned chuckling weakly. "Looks like you made the right call giving me your scarf. That could have ended badly." Kokichi said letting out a sigh of relief. I wasn't going to question the weird exchange and instead tried to piece together what just happened. (Y/N)'s voice was unsteady and a little raspy. I looked at the wound in the back of her neck and flinched a little. She coughed up a little blood which scared Tenko and Himiko. She looked at the two females and smiled kindly. "Be glad I was here and saw right through Korekiyo's scheme. This could have been one of you." She said grimly. Tenko nodded in understanding and bent down next to (Y/N). "Thank you (Y/N). I owe you one." She said with a small smile. The (H/C) haired female chuckled. "I think you owe me more than one at this point. (Y/N) looked really pale. Like paler than normal. "Ugh. I might be a little light headed from the blood loss but I should be fine." She said. "Tenko hold down Korekiyo so I can check on (Y/N)." Kokichi said sternly. Tenko shot up and didn't need to be told twice. She held down the silent Korekiyo and Kokichi kneeled down next to the injured Servamp. "You sure you'll be alright?" He asked in a serious tone. "Yeah, yeah. *cough*. I'll be fine." She said. I could tell it was straining her to use her voice. But I was more shocked by Kokichi's actions. Not only that but he seemed honestly terrifying a minute ago there. Was what we just saw the true Ultimate Supreme Leader? (Y/N) explained how she knew Kiyo was going to try something and told us that he was also the murderer of Angie. I asked how and she explained that he was probably setting up this murder plot when Angie came looking for a candle for the ritual not only that but she smelt traces of Angie's blood on him. After that I pieced together the rest. After that (Y/N) was completely drained and decided to use Kokichi as a pillow for her nap. When she was doing that Kokichi ordered Himiko to go and get the others, for me to go and get a medical kit, and for Tenko to take Korekiyo out of the room. None of us questioned him. He had this aura that made it impossible to defy him.
~Kokichi's POV~
Once Shuichi left to go and get the medical kit (Y/N) started to stir. "O-ow. That really hurt." She said her voice strained and honestly painful to listen to. "Nee-heehee. You gave me a scare back there." I said returning to my normal personality not wanting to worry her. "Hey...Don't think I didn't notice you going all Supreme Leader mode back there." She said chuckling painfully. I growled a little. "Don't remind me. I let my mask slip for five seconds and you can't let me live it down." I said rolling my eyes. Her eyes started closing again. "Yeah, yeah." She said yawning a little showing her fangs. A piece of her hair got caught in her mouth causing her to growl a little. "Stupid hair." She grumbled brushing it off of her face. I laughed a little at her. Shuichi came back with the medical kit and I treated (Y/N)'s wound. I picked up a thing or two from watching her treat wounds. I wrapped up her neck with a few bandages and helped her put her scarf back on to hide it. It would take her a while to heal but she should be better soon. After that she was good as new. A little loopy because of the blood loss but nothing I had to worry about for right now. I helped (Y/N) up. She was a little wobbly but she was alive. She used my shoulder for balance and we all walked out into the hall to see everyone had gathered together. Tenko still had the apprehended Kiyo in a firm grip but the male was silent. "Gonta no understand. Why Kiyo handcuffed?" Gonta asked. I sighed. "Isn't it obvious. He's the culprit." I said in a matter-of-factly tone. Everyone was shocked to hear this except for the people who were there. (Y/N) coughed up a little blood again. "(Y/N)!" Kaito and Maki shouted in unison. "I'm f-fine." She stuttered before smiling. "After all I just took a major hit but I revealed the culprit. He tried to kill me but ha!" She started coughing roughly again. "Don't push yourself. Let me explain it so you can recover." I told her sternly. "Do you honestly thing they'll believe it coming from your mouth?" She questioned. Shuichi took a step forward. "Then I'll explain what happened." Shuichi said. Me and (Y/N) nodded allowing him to continue. He left out the part about me taking charge. Thank God. I thought. He also explained (Y/N)'s theory about Kiyo being the blackened as well. Hearing it from Shuichi's mouth and (Y/N)'s mouth convinced me. It convinced the others as well.
Monokuma popped out a few seconds later. Only he wasn't bald? Strange. "Puhuhuhuhu~ It seems you've already apprehended the culprit. Weird, this hasn't happened before." The black and white bear said. I cursed Monokuma in the back of my mind while maintaining my normal joking expression. "Nee-heehee. So what do we do if we already know who the blackened is? Isn't the purpose of the class trial to find out who the culprit is in this grand spectacle?" I questioned. "Well, I honestly don't know what to do. This has never happened before. I guess still do the class trial and convince people who aren't convinced or something." He said before leaving. (Y/N) ordered Maki and Shuichi to go and find any evidence they could in the room. Meanwhile the rest of us sat down in the hallway. Tenko still had Kiyo in a firm grip. "By they way, why did (Y/N) have a knife on her?" Kaito asked. "Nee-heehee. She always has some kind of weapon on her. It can range from swords to pencils." I said answering for her. "Kokichi I'm more curious about that hold you put Kiyo in." Tenko said. I cursed in my mind but kept my smiling persona. "(Y/N) taught it to me a while ago incase I ever got attacked. Of course being the Ultimate Supreme Leader it's only natural for me to know how to defend myself." I said. "Oh, so that was (Y/N)'s move. But why was the knife involved? Or was that for extra measure?" Tenko questioned. I sighed. "Geez what's with all the stupid questions. Shouldn't you know? I held the knife over a vital area on the neck. Just pressing the knife to it would be enough to paralyze someone as big as Gonta." I said in a matter-of-factly tone. The others shivered at that comment. "I want to know why (Y/N) had handcuffs with her. Not only that but where did she get them?" Himiko asked. "Ummm...I don't know." I answered honestly. "I had no idea she even had access to handcuffs. Where did you get those?" I asked the (E/C) eyed female. She coughed a little. "Ryoma's lab...It's still open so I decided to use the handcuffs that were left in there...I just carry them around for situations like this." She explained. Her voice was still strained. Kiyo laughed slightly causing all of us to glare at him. "What do you want you degenerate male?" Tenko spat. "Kehehehe~ Oh no. I just find it funny that (Y/N) gave Kokichi a very specific set of items." He said creepily. "What? The handcuffs and the knife? That was to take down your sorry a*s!" Miu hissed. "That's not the item I'm referring too." He said. S*it. I hissed in my head. "She gave him a total of three items. The knife, the handcuffs, and her scarf." He explained. "So it's just a scarf." I lied. "But that's not true is it?" Korekiyo questioned chuckling darkly. "Noooo, I'm pretty sure it's just a scarf that I gave her a while back ago. She probably didn't want blood on it." I said rolling my eyes. "The wound was made to the back of her neck. If she didn't want blood on it why put it right over the wound?" He questioned. "To hide the bandages duh." I said. Keep it up. Keep it up. I thought. "Kehehehe~ Oh? Then do explain why when you had me apprehended you told her that giving you her scarf was a good idea? Not only that you said that it could have ended badly if she had her scarf. Explain that Kokichi." He said. S*it! Think of something quick. I thought. "Oh? Did I say that? I don't recall saying that." I said calmly. "Weak defenses like that won't work here Kokichi. Why did you say that? Perhaps it has something to do with a Servamp's weak-." "It's just an important scarf alright?" (Y/N) questioned cutting him off. "What?" He questioned in an annoyed tone.
"Kokichi gave me that scarf a while back ago. I've had it for a while now and it's grown on me." She said. "Geez and here I thought Kokichi over thought things." She said rolling her eyes before coughing a little. I saw what she was doing and smirked on the inside. I played along pretending to be offended until Shuichi and Maki came back. After that we went to the trial grounds and voted Korekiyo the murderer. Luckily (Y/N) and Shuichi's deductions were all correct. And then of course all this crap about his sister or something. (Y/N) visibly started cringing when he said he was in love with his sister.
~Your POV~
OH SATAN IT HAD TO BE INCEST DIDN'T IT! I thought cringing at Korekiyo's reveal. I recovered and clicked my tongue. Welp time for (Y/N)'s thoughts! Is this murder justifiable? Let's find out! I thought. "Well let me look at it this way." I said. "If your sister was claimed by an illness of some kind then she's dead." I deadpanned. I shivered slightly remembering he deemed all the girls except Maki and Miu worthy of being his sister's friends. "Look. This action can not be justified. Losing family is painful. Losing siblings, sometimes even worse." I said thinking back to the other seven, no eight Servamps. Almost forgot Tsu Tsu. Can't forget that little psycho can we? "Family is an important thing. But this is just not right. This is a psychopath's work. You aren't killing for your sister. You're killing for the sake of killing." I spat. With that I turned away. "Kehehehe~ Maybe to someone like you. You've lived for a long time. Do you even know what the emotion of love is?" He questioned. I was still looking away but that triggered something inside of me. "Do tell. Has there ever been anyone you've loved? From the bottom of your heart? Someone you would risk your own life for?" He asked. I felt my face heat up but none of the others could see. "Love?" I questioned. I sighed. "I don't see why people are so judgmental on that topic. I may not agree with you loving your sister but who am I to call it wrong? To me love is love. I've seen forbidden love, forgotten love, love that lasted well beyond the test of time." I said. I put a hand over my chest. "When you think of someone you love dying your blood turns to ice. When you think of the one you love your heart soars to new heights. I...don't have much experience in terms of love. I just know a lot about it. But if I ever loved someone it would be doomed to fail." I said a shadow covering my eyes. "I'm an immortal creature. If I fell in love the person I loved would just die while I stayed frozen in time. That is the true curse of immortality..." I trailed off as my checks were dusted a light pink. "But that doesn't mean I haven't fallen in love..." I trailed off again. I shook my head and grit my teeth. "But I refuse to let emotions cloud my judgement." I stated firmly pushing any other thoughts to the back of my mind. "I have full control over myself. I won't let things like love stop me from doing my job. I refuse to let it." I stated. "To answer all your questions. Yes, there is someone I love. And yes I love them from the bottom of my heart. And risking my life is something I do on a daily basis, so yeah. But just because I feel love doesn't mean I allow it." I said. "Because they'll just die. And it will rip me to shreds and prevent me from doing anything. For thousands of years I've been cold. And that will continue for years to come." I said. I didn't notice I had shed tears. I didn't notice the others had shed tears from my speech. After that I remained motionless and unresponsive. "So you do understand. Kehehehe~ If only I had known this beforehand." He said.
After his execution everyone started giving speeches of their own. Kokichi teased the others. And everything seemed normal. Until Kokichi brought up that some of the others were holding back a lot of emotions. It was true. The tension in the room was all because of tensed up emotions that everyone was trying to hold back. After he brought it up everyone had a nice long cry. Even Kokichi himself. Only since he feels weak when he let's his emotions slip I let him hide behind me. I shed a few tears but weren't letting things out like the others. Tenko hugged Himiko and tried to comfort the small red head. After a while everyone had calmed down. But a few people passed out. Tenko carried Himiko and I had to carry Kokichi. Gonta picked up little miss mastermind. Shuichi was walking next to me. It was nighttime so I didn't have any issues carrying Kokichi. "Is he going to be alright?" Shuichi asked. "He'll be fine." I responded quietly. "So even Kokichi had something bottled up." He said. I nodded. "Everyone does. It's something that always happens." I said. But then I sensed something. Something odd. I looked at Shuichi, gave him a quick apology, then I sprinted for the dorms. I fumbled with Kokichi's dorm keys for a bit before opening the door and getting him settled in. I ran back out and hid in some bushes. Then I noticed Kaito had stopped in his tracks. Shuichi and Maki had left him alone when he started coughing. Coughing up blood. I knew I sensed someone dying slowly. I approached him. "Kaito." I said lowly alerting him to my presence. "(Y-Y/N)!" He stuttered trying to hide the blood. "Don't bother. What's going on?" I asked. "You shouldn't be worrying. I'll be fine." He said. I sighed. "Kaito I can sense when someone is dying. You are clearly dying." I said. "J-just drop it. I don't want the others to worry about me." He said. I sighed again. "Kaito...I don't think you realize how serious this is." I said grimly. "If you're sick and you die then Shuichi, Maki, and everyone else will be effected greatly. This goes beyond just you. You have to think of everyone else as well." I started to walk away and waved my hand at him. "But if you insist I won't let the others know....But I will watch your condition. If it gets worse I'll be telling everyone." I said. And with that I left.
