//Your POV//

*One week later*

"Ugh, I'm so bored!!!!!!" I yelled, on the phone with Jaiden who was in Seattle.

"You should be happy you're off today," Jaiden sighed.

"But I wanted some real action today! Yet Chief said I needed a break, what the hell does he know?!" I rolled my eyes.

"Well...maybe you can go see what Max is up to and hang out with him," Jaiden suggested, "I think you two would be sooooo cute if you guys started dating again!"

"Okay, one, we never dated, just kissed, and two, he's working today" I corrected her.

I rolled over on my side, staring at the wall next to my bed.

I stared intently at the photos I pinned on the wall of me and him from childhood.

I really did wish we could've been together, it could've been great.

"Y/n, it's 11 o'clock in your time zone, he's not working at a super market at 11 at fucking night!"

"Well how do you know if he's awake?"

"If he's not, then wake him up," Jaiden said.

"Fine, But I'll surprise him. I won't call ahead."

"Um...I don't think that's a good idea, I mean- what about his parents?"

"I'll go to his window," I smiled.

"Okay I guess."

"And I'll bring donuts!"

"Sure, knock yourself out. Tell me about it in the morning, I'm heading to bed," Jaiden yawned.

"Alright, Bye!"

"Bye."

And she hung up.

I changed outta my pajamas since I was planning to go to bed but I couldn't sleep.

I threw on a long sleeve shirt featuring Ed Sheeran because of certain memories of camp. (*wink wonk*)

I threw on black stretch pants and black sneakers.

I also put on a coat cuz I didn't wanna get sick.

I quickly left the house before I woke anyone up and felt their wrath.

I went into my car and drove to the nearest Dunkin' Donuts (or whatever) since it was still open.

I got us each donuts (his being chocolate and mine being *favorite flavor*) and took the 20 minute drive to his house.

I parked my car in a parking lot that was 24/7 open and free ( h a l l e l u j a h ) .

I walked all the way down to his house,
despite his neighborhood being shady as hell.

I tried to think about how I would get to him....

and then I noticed there was a tree really close to a window.

"But how do I know that's not his parents room and I'm just gonna fall on their faces and die?" I asked myself, then sighed, "Fuck it. I'll have to look into the window first."

I put the small bag of donuts in my mouth, made sure my phone was secure in my coat pocket, started to climb the tree.

I inched my way up, little by little until a I was able to sit myself down on the sturdy looking branch next to the window.

I tried to be as quiet as possible as peeking through the window.

The room was dark, but I was able to make out some things when my eyes adjusted.

There was a lot of clothes on the floor, empty cans of soda and crumbs of food.

Overall, it was a pretty messy room.

I noticed there was a mattress on the floor, with a figure wrapped up in sheets..

And that's when I heard growling coming from the room.

I then spotted a dog, which looked like a Labrador, growling at me through the window.

'Shit.'

The figure on the mattress starting to sit up and groaned.

I had nowhere to hide so I just sank under the window, sort of laying down on the branch and hoping whoever was there didn't look down.

I heard the window slide open.

...

"Y/n?!"

Looking down at me from his window was Max, sporting messy hair and tired eyes.

From the surprise of him yelling, I rolled over, almost falling off the branch, but was able to grab on and pull myself back on.

When I was finally able to sit, I took the bag of donuts out of my mouth to talk.

"...ayyyy I got the right window," I smirked awkwardly, "Hey Max. Howzit hanging?"

"Y/n, what the fuck are doing?!" He asked.

"I wanted see if you wanted to hang out, but I thought this way would be more fun...guess not for you. I woke you up, didn't I? Sorry, Max."

"I'm not mad about that, I'm mad that you did it this way, you could seriously hurt yourself if you fell from here," He squeezed the bridge of his nose with two of his fingers.

"Oh..." I looked down.

He was right, it was pretty high.

"Just get in here. I'm not tired anyway," Max sighed.

I climbed in and handed him the bag, "I got us donuts."

"Thanks, I guess."

As soon as I hand over the bag, I'm immediately tackled to the ground by the dog.

It kept licking my face and it's tail wagged while Max was obviously mortified.

I on the other hand was laughing hysterically.

"Sparty, get off of her," Max tried to push him off of me.

I pet the dog on the head, "Awww! He's a good boy??"

I looked up to Max, "You never told me you had a dog!"

"Keep your voice down," Max shushed me, "my parents are sleeping and I don't want to deal with them if they wake up."

"Sorry," I quieted my voice.

Max continued on what I said about his dog, "His name is Spartacus. I found him when I was a senior in high school. Most of the time he's in my room, he doesn't go to the bathroom inside at all. He's a really good boy."

Max sat down on his mattress and patted next to him for me to join him.

He gave me my donut and we both started eating.

Every now and then he'd pick off a piece of his and tossed it to Spartacus.

"So, What made you want to come here?" Max asked me.

"I don't know..guess I was bored and I was wondering what you were up to," I shrugged.

"Why didn't you text me?"

"Felt too predictable."

He nodded.

"Well, do you want to watch a movie?" He asked me.

"Sure," I smiled, stroking Spartacus' head, which was now resting on my lap.

"I think he likes you," Max chuckled, "So...

What movie do you wanna watch?"
