chapter ten

A few days and rumours about Harry and Draco spread throughout the school like wildfire. Word on the street was that Harry was Draco's boytoy. Thought it should've made him offended, all it did was make Harry become more flustered around Draco than he already was. Draco just thought it was hilarious.

"They're not wrong," he had said, winking at Harry flirtatiously when he told Draco about the rumours. Harry had blushed and scowled at him.

"It's alright," Ron said consolingly as they walked to Physics class together. "Stuff like this blows over in a few days."

Harry sighed, entering the classroom with a small pout. Their teacher, Professor McGonagall, ignored them as she swiftly passed them in the doorway.

"Chop chop, boys," she said sternly. "We haven't got all afternoon."

Ron stuck his tongue out at her once she turned around, making Harry snicker.

"Right, class," she said once the second bell had rung and everyone was seated. "Today we're going to be learning about..."

Harry could feel himself dozing off. Who needed to know about physics anyway, right?

"Psst, mate. Don't fall asleep. McGonagall is one angry lady when someone gets caught falling asleep," Ron shook his desperately but discreetly. Harry groaned and cushioned his head on his pillow. Not only do schools force you to sit in a dingy classroom for an hour, they also controlled your activities during that hour.

"I do hope your paying attention back there, Mr. Potter." Harry's head shot off the desk, face turning red. "Uh, yes miss!"

She rolled her eyes and turned away from him, kissing her teeth disapprovingly. Harry jumped when a balled up note was thrown onto his desk from the other side of the room. Ron looked shocked.

"Who threw that?" he asked the other side of the class silently. Everyone just shrugged, looking at each other accusingly. Curious, Harry opened the note and read the inside.

Potter,

Meet me in the ROR. 12AM.

Harry pocketed the note, giving Ron a shrug.

"It's nothing. Just leave it."

Harry quietly crept through the school towards the Room of Requirement. The room was empty when he got there. He jumped when the door suddenly slammed shut behind him.

"Potter, you really are naive. What if I was a murderer?"

He sagged in relief when he turned around to face an amused Draco. "Oh, Lord. It's just you. Thank fuck."

"Well, who else would it be?" Malfoy raised an eyebrow.

"A murderer?" Harry said, chuckling nervously. Malfoy just laughed.

"No murderer would dare come near you while I'm watching over you, Potter," Malfoy told him confidently, puffing out his chest. Harry rolled his eyes.

"No offense, Draco, but you look like a pale noodle," Harry pointed out. The blond boy recoiled with hurt.

"Now that was uncalled for!" Malfoy cried, putting a dramatic hand to his chest. "I'll have you know that I'm very muscular!"

Harry sniggered. "I'm sure."

Malfoy stepped closer to him, winking. "I can show you if you want."

"No, no!" Harry exclaimed, holding up his hands. "Just- what did you want?"

Malfoy tensed a little. "Well, I just wanted to tell you the rest of our story."

Harry's eyes brightened and he went to sit on a beanbag, listening keenly. "Go on."

Malfoy took the bean bag across him and took a deep breath before resuming the story from where he had left off.

"Draco," Harry said, tugging the blond's sleeve through the bars of the cell. "What have they done with my parents?"

It was the next day, and Malfoy had snuck down to the basement to see his new friend.

Malfoy shook his head. "I don't know. My father doesn't tell me anything because 'I'm too young' and I could 'jeopardize the operation'."

"He's not mad that you came down to see me?" Harry asked tentatively.

Malfoy smirked and angled his head a little so Harry could see the blossoming bruise on his collarbone. "He was a tiny bit angry when he caught me.But he can't stop me from seeing my cr- I mean- friend."

Harry flushed. he hadn't had a best friend before. "I have to get out of here, Draco. Will you help me?"

Draco nodded without hesitation. His eyebrows furrowed, however. "But how?"

Harry paused for a moment. "Couldn't you try nick the key? How high do you think the security levels are?"

Malfoy looked uneasy as he started to fidget. "Pretty high, I'd reckon. I can't do it on my own, Harry. I'm only eleven."

Malfoy had a valid point. Suddenly, an idea popped into Harry's mind. "Sirius! You can get him to help! I can give you his phone number. I've got it remembered by heart!"

The taller boy's eyes widened. "By heart? Blimey, I can barely remember mine at times. I'll write it down on my hand quickly."

The blond took a pen from his pocket and looked expectantly at Harry, who recited the digits from memory. His voice shook a little.

"Are you alright?" Malfoy asked, reaching through the bars of the cell to hold Harry's hand. Harry let him.

Shaking his head, the brunet boy squeezed his eyes shut. "I feel so useless. I should be doing something. Not sitting here in a cell getting Sirius pulled into danger as well. My parents could be- could be- for all I know you could be- you could be-"

"I could be what?" Malfoy asked slowly. Menacingly.

Harry swallowed. "I don't mean it like that. I just- you're father's boss or whatever is holding my parents hostage for seemingly no reason and I barely know you!"

"Then get to know me," Malfoy said desperately, stroking Harry's hand with his thumb gently.

"I don't know if I can trust you," Harry whispered, shaking his head. Fresh tears dripped down his face onto the cold, dirty floor.

"You can, Harry. I'll get you out of that cell. I swear it," Malfoy said determinedly, squeezing Harry's hand and gently tugging him. Harry blushed.

"What are you doing?" Harry asked tentatively, crawling closer to Malfoy. Malfoy took his hand away from Harry's and brought it up to stroke his cheek. He felt Harry's skin heat under his hands.

"I've never kissed a boy before," the blond stated randomly. Harry looked perplexed.

"I haven't kissed anyone. Not even girls," he said, whispering it like a secret.

"Would you like to kiss me when you get out of your cell?" Draco offered, curious. Harry thought about it for a minute.

"Maybe," he said, giggling a little. "Isn't it weird to kiss boys?"

"Girls do it all the time," Malfoy pointed out.

"We're not girls!" Harry laughed. Then he stopped. "Are you a girl?"

"No!" Malfoy said, looking offended. "Definitely not! Are you?"

Harry shook his head quickly. "No!"

Malfoy breathed a sigh of relief. "Girls are scary."

"Not as scary as your face," Harry teased, laughing. His face brightened considerably as the blond's offended face.

"Yeah. Compared to you, my face is nothing."
