An inspirational LGBTQ+ figure! 

Martha P. Johnson was an American gay liberation activist and self identified drag queen. She was also a black women, trans, and an activist trying to fight for equality. Martha served as a mother figure to all the drag queens, trans women, and homeless youth of Christopher Street in New York City (probably where she lived). Together alongside Sylvia Rivera, she was at the beginning of the Stonewall riots. Sylvia and Martha together found S.T.A.R Johnson. Along with Rivera, they were central figures in the beginning of the gay liberation movement of the 1970's United States.
