#12- Girl X Girl

Prompt: The love between Life and Death

One day, a long time ago, in a place seen by no mortal eye, a woman was created. She was called Life.

Her job was to help the natural beings alive on the planet her Master created.

She was a stunning woman. Anyone who saw her would instantly fall into a deep love. Her skin was tanned beautifully, and her darling brown hair fell into waves just above her shoulders.

But it was her eyes that could enrapture any being. The brightest of blues, with the colors swirling in a slow dance.

She loved her job very much and she loved the people of Earth. She hadn't been around very long before another woman appeared.

She was given no name and no job. It was confusing, to say the least. But Life didn't mind. She enjoyed her new company.

The woman had sleek black hair, that fell almost to the ground, and beautiful pale skin that would match the whitest of shows. Her eyes were a deep purple and they looked stunning on her.

"You're beautiful," Life said as the woman looked around, confused at who and where she was.

She looked up sharply and a pink dusted her cheeks and her eyes met those of Life.

She did not speak, but the corners of her mouth lifted in a smile and she dipped her head in the slightest of nods.

Life had an idea. Now, they were in a room filled with what humans would describe as windows. All around them was beautiful galaxy. And below Life's feet was the Earth.

She reached down and gently touched. A small light appeared in her hand, and then died out.

The other woman's eyes closed and she would not respond to Life's callings.

When she opened them again, she spoke for the first time, "My name is Death. This is my job. Those beings cannot live forever and I am to take them to our Master."

Life laughed, loud and boisterous. She loved Death and she loved her job.

Death smiled at the sound, and her chest fluttered. She loved the woman before her.

From then on, things were much easier for the two. They watched the Earth with fascination and predicted what the humans would do next.

They also chose to celebrate some of the holidays and traditions of the humans. It was a fun game.

Life's favorite things that they took from the humans were dancing and music. She loved to sing and hum and twirl Death around and around.

Death's two favorite things were sleep and marriage. Sleep was because Death split into multiples of herself in her mind to lead each person to the afterlife. Sometimes it was overwhelming.

Marriage was because she loved the idea of eternity. Her and Life were to work together in harmony for eternity and they loved each other. What better way to sanctify it than through a promise to love and be there for each other forever?

So Death asked Life is they could be married. Her face flushed and she couldn't meet her eye, but Life was overjoyed.

She immediately began to sing and dance and spin and laugh. Death quickly overcame her embarrassment and laughed as well.

So the two were wed, unofficially of course. They had no priest and no courthouse, but it didn't matter to them.

They were happy and they loved their jobs and they loved each other.
