Levy and Lily walked back to the guild. They both walked to the bar. "Mirajane, have you seen Gajeel?" Lily asked in a calm manner.

"No, sorry. I haven't seen him since you three left for that job." She replied with a frown.

"Damn, something must've happened!" Lily said nervously.

Levy teared up. "Maybe it's true then..." She thought to herself.

"Let's find Natsu! His sensitive smell could be useful." Lily said to Levy.

"Y-Yeah. Let's hurry." Levy said.

"Mira, is Natsu here perhaps?" Lily asked.

"Yeah, he's over sitting next to Lucy." Mira replied.

"Thanks Mira!" Levy said as the walked to Natsu.

"Natsu, we could use your help." Lily said.

"Hmm, yo Lily! How's things?" Natsu asked.

"Not so good, I'm afraid. It seems Gajeel has disappeared on us." Lily replied.

"We could really use your sense of smell to find him." Levy said.

"Sure, it's a slow day so I guess I could help out. Could you take me to the general location where you last saw him?" Natsu asked.

"Yeah, of course. Follow me." Lily said. He led Natsu and Levy into the forest.

"Alright! I got it!" Natsu said in an accomplished tone.

He got into a crawling position and shoved his face to the ground.

"Natsu... Your so... Weird." Lucy said. Lucy wanted to tag along seeing as how she had nothing to do as well.

His crawling led to an opening and a puddle of blood. "Damn... That's Gajeel's! Gajeel... You metallic bastard! What were you doing?!" Natsu asked himself.

"Where's Gajeel though?" Lily asked.

"He may still be alive somewhere. Let's split up and look!" Natsu said.

Levy stayed while the others looked for Gajeel. An hour passed and they returned. "Any luck?" Levy asked as tears filled her eyes.

"Nothing... No trace of him were left." Lily said.

"I found this..." Lucy said holding out a piece of fabric that looked like it was from Gajeel's clothes. It was stained with blood and dirt.

"I didn't smell anything that could have been Gajeel's." Natsu said.

"Gajeel.... Where the hell did you go?!" Lily asked.

After a week, Gajeel hadn't returned. The only assumption was that he was gone.

Everyone was dressed in black and depression filled the air.

The master spoke, trying to hold back the tears. "And to finish the ceremony, the Dragon Slayer's roar to ascend our brothers dragon soul to eternal rest."

Natsu held back his tears. Wendy whipped the tears from her face and held Natsu's hand. They unleashed their roars and watched as they collided in the air and lifted into the sky.

"Gajeel! Your time was too soon! You will always be a member of our guild! May you find rest with the first master in Tenrojima!" The master said.

After a little while longer everyone went back to the guild. Everyone except Levy.

"Damn it Gajeel.... I'm so sorry." She said as she wept at the loss of her friend. "I loved you! Please come back!" She yelled into the sky, praying to have her dear friend back.
