As the night fell upon the grounds of Trench, Kai and Linh still remained at their post; watching over Tyler's grave. Kai kept watch, while Linh rested upon the glass lid and looked down upon the child.
Linh never interacted with Tyler most of the time, but she watched him as he grew up in the Bandito lifestyle, and his never ending love with Josh.
Josh loved Tyler more than anything in the world, and he fought tooth and nail to keep him alive, but the poor child met his fate when he learned the truth of his flowered life.
As Linh watched over the child, she didn't think that he looked to be dead. He looked so fresh, and so beautiful, it was almost as if he was just sleeping.
The girl looked up from the tomb, and looked over to Kai, who was half asleep while watching.
"Kai?"
The Bandito woke up and shook his dead.
"W-What?"
Linh chuckled.
"Did you fall asleep?"
"A little bit." Kai replied.
He stood up and walked over beside her.
"What is it, dear?"
Linh looked back down upon the child, as he lay peacefully in the tomb.
"Look at our beloved flower. He doesn't look to be dead."
Kai looked down at Tyler, and he saw how pretty he was. He agreed with Linh, but wasn't so sure.
"He was dead when we found him."
"But, look now." She said. "He still has color on his cheeks, and his lips are glowing with life."
Linh turned to Kai; grabbing his hand.
"He may have been dead when you and Josh found him, but he now looks alive."
Kai started to heed Linh's words. He began to see that Tyler resembled life, and started to think that maybe he wasn't truly dead.
But, there was no way to prove it.

The next morning, right at the brink of dawn, Ari and Olene walked into the crypts, as it was now their turn to watch over Tyler's tomb. When they arrived, they found Kai and Linh leaning against the tomb; fast asleep while locked in embrace.
As Olene stood by, Ari came over and looked into the tomb, where Tyler lay in repose. He began to remember what he had told Tyler, when they were in the woods together.
(Flashback)
Ari looked away again and started walking away from Tyler.
"What does he plan to do when the fighting is done?"
"He wants to take me home."
"Where is home?"
"In our little house that he shared with Jenna, in the neighborhood surrounded by woodlands."
Ari turned back to the child.
"How will he take you home, as the leader?"
Tyler thought for a moment, but with everything that was happening right now, he wasn't sure on how to answer.
"I-I don't know."
Before Ari could say anything else, Kai stepped in.
"Josh can't take you home." He said. "You're a Bandito, and your life is with us now."
"I know." Tyler replied. "But, if Josh takes me home, he'll return."
Once again, Ari spoke, but he started walking towards the near bushes of the forest.
"Yes, it is true that a Bandito is relieved of their duties upon death. If you want to go home, you must die."
When he heard this, Tyler was heavily disturbed.
"D-Die?"
"Yes, sweet flower, you must die."
(Present)
Reliving this horrible memory, Ari pressed his hand upon the lid of the tomb and burst into tears.
Hearing her fiancé's sorrow, Olene came to his side and grasped his hand.
"I'm so sorry, darling." She said.
Ari looked into Tyler's sleeping frame and wept softly.
"I would give anything to tell him that I was wrong."
"What do you mean by that?" Olene asked.
Ari looked to his fiancée.
"Before this happened, I told Tyler that if he wanted to go home, he would have to die."
He looked back down into the tomb.
"My prediction came true."
Ari broke down; quietly sobbing. Olene hugged onto him, trying to comfort him.
"Don't fret, my dear." She said. "I'm sure you didn't mean it. This was all Ender and Wren's doing."
Before Ari could reply, Kai and Linh started waking up. The two turned and saw them stretching their arms and legs together.
Linh, who saw them first, slowly stood to her feet; yawning.
"Good morning." She said.
"Hello, Linh." Olene replied. "Did you and Kai sleep well?"
"I wish we could say we did."
Kai also woke up and greeted Ari and Olene.
"Good morning, friends." He said.
"Kai, Linh says you didn't sleep very well." Olene said.
"Well, when you're constantly watching over a dead child that your master loved deeply, that makes it harder."
"I won't accept that the sweet flower is dead!" Ari cried.
The three came over and stood where he was, which was right beside the tomb. Olene quickly took Ari's hand, while Kai and Linh were nearby.
"We feel your pain." Linh said. "I too agree that this sweet child is too fresh looking to be dead."
She looked down into Tyler's tomb.
"It's almost as if he weren't dead at all."
"There has to be more to this." Ari said.
Olene looked back to Kai and Linh.
"Kai, how long was Tyler in the water before you and Josh found him?"
"I don't know." Kai replied. "Josh was the one who found him, but if I had to guess, maybe for a few hours."
"Did he look pale when he found him?"
"He was just, cold and blue. It looked like he had died by drowning."
"But, look at him now." Olene said. "He isn't pale anymore. All the color is residing on his skin. Tyler had to have been dead long enough before any color returned."
Linh came over next to Olene and observed her clue, which astonished her completely.
"Olene, you're right."
Ari also saw his fiancée's observation, and agreed.
Kai, who was the last witness, began to ponder everything he had heard, and decided to go back to the same place where Tyler was found dead.
~
When the Bandito placed his two feet into the lake, he saw that it was left unchanged. It was as if it was never disturbed. The water felt cold, also as cold as the child when he met his fate, but that was not what brought him there.
Ari, Olene, and Linh, are convinced that Tyler didn't die when he entered the water, and that something else may have happened. Kai was determined to find the culprit, and bring some hope that Josh's innocent flower child may still be alive.
As he walked along the currents of the lake, he tried to recount his steps. He tried to remember exactly where he was when this awful tragedy took place.
Then, he found a clue.
He found himself at the exact same spot where he found Josh, who was frantically searching for Tyler. He could see the specs of ice that were left behind.
Kai picked up the spec and examined it. He noticed that it didn't feel cold and brittle, but shimmery and light. He started questioning what this type of ice could be, or if it was really ice at all.
Then, more specs of ice appeared, which led him down a trail, right to the exact spot where Josh found Tyler in the water.
The spot was covered with petals of sunflowers.
Kai, overwhelmed with emotion, kneeled down before the flowers and allowed a few tears to fall. He began to recall seeing his master holding his beloved flower's body in his arms; lamenting in grief.
However, as his tears landed into the water, the droplets revealed something glowing below. Kai dipped his hand into the water and picked up the glowing object, which was a magic orb.
As Kai looked at it, he began to remember seeing Wren having the same magic orb, which she had used to keep Tyler fully submerged in the water, and to ultimately kill him.
However, when Kai examined its contents, he can see that the magic had not been completely used, which told him everything that he needed to know about what happened to Tyler.
Wren may have succeeded in drowning her flowered son, but she failed to kill him.
Now knowing the truth, Kai felt a sense of relief flowing through him. He got the answer that he wanted, and it gave him hope.
Tyler wasn't dead.
