Chapter 2: Falling

Erwin's POV

Walking up to Levi, he seemed, distracted lately... after the burial, he seemed, clouded. He never pays attention to me, or whatever his advisers tells him. Whenever he had time alone, I caught him looking out over the city below the castle. Always in the same spot... perhaps, he found someone?

Looking to where he was staring off... the poor side of the city- "What do you want, Erwin?" He asks me, staring me down.

Attempting to smile at him, I answered. "Well... I wanted to see what was on your mind... are you in love, Levi?"

On his pale face, I see it. That tint of red on his cheeks... a blush. Instantly, I knew that he found a lover... "Well, it's very unlike me, but... I'm willing to let this go, Levi. Go. Go and woo your little lover into your arms-"

"Shut up, Erwin." He says, sighing before trying to climb over the glass-free window and climbing down the vines. "Just... don't tell them where I went."

Smirking, I promised. "Alright... but in return, I shall meet this lady..."

He scoffs, "Not until she loves me..."

"This lady... she doesn't know you're royalty?"

Levi shakes his head. "And I rather keep it that way... please. I don't want her to know... she loves me already without me being royalty... and I don't know if she would run if she finds out about my blood."

"Of course, my king-"

"And even think of calling me that, Eyebrows."

Levi continues his journey down the vines, "Tch, good luck with your lady."

Hanji's POV

"If I had oil... combine it with sugar..." I kept muttering useless pieces of thoughts under my breath. No one listens to me... I just do what I can do.

After canning 3 peaches into one jar with oil and sugar, I hoped it would last a week. Sinking onto my bed, I tried to sleep... but this one person who banged on my door kept preventing me from sleeping.

Groaning, I got up, tired and annoyed. "What do you want?" I shouted as I opened the door, but immediately regretted saying those words. "L-Levi..."

He smirks, "I wanted to come and see you, Hanji. Is there something wrong with that?"

"Y-Yeah... I-I didn't know you were coming!" Quickly, I opened the door and let him in. Looking at him more closely, he wore a dark brown cloak... the sun was brightly shining... he must've been suffering badly under it in the heat! "T-Take your cloak off... I say, reaching into some of Moblit's clothes.

"Why would you ask me that, Hanji?"

"Y-You're... um..." My face burned badly with warm in them. I-I... looked at him with something. I don't know how I looked at him... but he smiled, gentle inside. "I have clothes for you... my friend, Moblit, comes here often and he leaves his clothes here."

"And he's not here?"

Shaking my head, I felt my heart ache a bit. "Moblit... went out of town. And he came back with a bride. So, I forced him out of my care."

Feeling a tear drop down my face, Levi already was in front of me, wiping them away. "Hey... it's okay. At least he's no longer here, causing you so much heartache, okay?" His words were so gentle to me... it's like he knew how to talk to the people. Caring deeply... "Thank you for caring for me..."

Blushing, I gave him the clothes. "O-Of course! Y-You're a guest-" He came close to my face, and I could feel that he was so overpowering to even have him in presence. "Ah!"

"Heh..." He chuckles softly, "Am I really that scary, Hanji? Or do you not like me here...?" Levi touched my neck with his cold nose, "Tell me, Hanji..."

Feeling his nose go up and down on my neck, I felt a gust of warm wind on my neck... so calming and so... gah, I can't. "A-A bit..."

He chuckles softly before kissing my neck. "You're so sweet... and I see that no one has been paying attention to a sweet... lovable woman like you."

"W-What does that mean?" My breath was constantly being taken away... the more he stared at me... the more I wanted to be with him. My face badly burning with embarrassment...

"You make me fall in love with you..." He says, his voice so mesmerizing to my ears. "And that I need to have you here... with me." He says, kissing my neck and holding my hand tight. He pushed me against the wall and kept kissing me.

Looking down into his eyes... "Are you, a man better than me, loving a peasant girl like me? I'm flattered..." I manged to say. "After all... I'm well below-"

"Your ranks doesn't matter to me... never. Beauty... doesn't always express about who you are inside. But... seeing you when I met you... oh, I already know who you are. An old friend of mine... and you're being hurt over something petty like your rank here. And, I'm just falling for you so much."

"Oh?" Soon, he got off of me and touched my chin. "L-Levi..."

His smirks were so devilishly, so strong and passionate... "Hm... I can afford to spend another minute or two here, before, I have to leave."

"Aw... you have to leave?" I asked, pleading him to stay, but I knew he had a life better than being with a person... a poor woman like me... I don't deserve him... but at least he still remembers me...

Levi chuckles softly, kissing my cheek. "Tomorrow night, Hanji, meet me in the garden in the castle. You'll know where I'll be meeting you..."

He starts to leave, and it makes me wonder... how he views me? Am I just a friend he wants to visit to take time away? Or am I someone he actually cares and does have feelings for me? Either way... I'm glad I bumped into him again...

Levi's POV

Walking into an empty alley... I hit a brick wall. Angry. I acted way too desperate... my fist's knuckles had skin ripped off, and it already started to bleed. Was I moving too fast or was I too deeply in love? Sighing, I did have to organize a date with her... I still can't tell her I'm royal blood. If I do... she might leave me. But I have to tell... sooner or later. Right now, I want her to love me before I tell, because some might say yes because I'm royal.
