Chapter 6: Drunken Nights
Levi's POV
She's been living with us for 3 days, and it seemed she had settled in. Of course, Nanaba came over every night to ensure that Hanji was safe. But in time, she was able to trust me more and more as she lived with us. There was a few complaints from Isabel about being unable to practice our songs, but they both understood that I truly did love Hanji.
"Come on... please... just one run?" Isabel slowly pleaded, whimpering with her puppy eyes. "While she's asleep?"
I sighed, giving into it all. After all, we were running low on making the deadline for our next song for this new album we were starting. "Alright. I don't think it should make that much of a noise to wake her up."
"Alright!"
I chuckled softly, seeing Hanji walk into the room- freshly out of the shower. She smiles softly, walking towards me. From the freezer, I pulled out her ice cream bin and a spoon from the drawer. Sliding it on the granite counter, I chuckled. "I'm sure you came back for that."
"I did... thanks. Oh... and if it's no trouble... can I have some more wine?" She asks. Ever since she got back, almost every night... she wanted something to drink. Talking to Nanaba in private, she said it's abnormal. Hanji hardly drinks- only on stressful days at work. "Sorry for being such a hassle."
"I'm just worried that you're gonna get addicted to alcohol or something. Maybe calm it down? I know I shouldn't be like... bossing you around... but I am afraid of something bad happening to you under my care. I'll limit you to... 2 glasses, alright?"
"2? The highest I can tolerate is 5."
"Leave it at 2." I growled softly.
"3?"
Then the little debate began to unravel. She argued she wanted a few more drinks while I tried to restrict her. I've given into her pleas, letting her drink 3 glasses of wine. With a heavy sigh, I just... poured her a drink. I watched her gulp it down. I nudged Isabel and Farlan to get our stuff ready in the recording room, just leaving Hanji and me alone.
After her 3 drinks, she started to get nauseous and I had to carry her to her room. She kept whining about her ex... and it just started to annoy me. She stunk of alcohol, and it just made me feel just weird. Instead of taking her to the bed, I took her to bathroom.
"Hanji, you need a bath." I say, laying her in the tub with her clothes on. "Bubble bath more likely."
She struggled to sit up, just slipping. Groggily speaking over and over. "I-I don't think I can... help me?"
"Help... help you?" I blushed when I thought of that. "No... I can't... I can't actually help you bathe."
I was about to walk away when she quickly tugged on my shirt. I nearly slipped on the tiled floor because of that. Standing my ground, I turned down to look at her. "I... I just want to know... why Erwin did that..."
"Hanji, you don't need to worry about him. Not now, alright? He's not here-"
"But... I want to know... was it because... I'm not good enough? Explain it to me, Levi... please... why did he do that? That... that terrible deed? Levi..."
Rolling my eyes gently, I knelt down and sighed. "I don't know why... everyone's different. Trust me, he sounds like a jerk. Don't beat yourself over it."
Yet she still held me tightly. Her cheeks grew rosy red and her eyes were a bit glazed from being drunk. "I can't... I can't beat myself over it... Levi... can you... do me a favor? This isn't the drunk me that's speaking... I'm speaking quite clear."
"I'll be the judge of that."
Hanji laid her head on my shoulder, groaning softly. "Can you tell me my flaws?"
"Your flaws?"
She nods, gripping my shirt as she murmurs. "Yes... my flaws..."
"Well first, you won't take a bath. You stink." I then turned on the faucet, feeling the cold water running down. It soon turned warm, and Hanji shrieked a bit. "It's not gonna hurt you. It's warm water."
She nods, quickly taking off her shirt. Before there was anything else to me removed, I walked away and out of the bathroom. My heart began to pound in embarrassment. As much as I wanted to go back to Isabel and Farlan to finish our next song... I had to stay here. Hanji... I promised Nanaba I'll take care of her.
I just didn't realize this was one of many nights... just a fragment of time of her drunken nights.
