Chapter 16: To Be Revealed

Hanji's POV

Waking up in that hotel room... it was like I don't remember what happened. Everything after dinner seemed to... disappear. Turning over to the side, I saw Levi slumbering there. Smiling softly, I kissed his forehead. His eyes fluttered open, revealing those gray eyes.

"Morning, love..." He says with a grunt. I chuckled a bit when he struggled to push himself off the bed. "Hungry?"

"I want... pancakes."

"Pancakes?" He used his slender hands to rub his eyes, struggling to stay awake. "Really? What time is it?"

I turned to the side, seeing my phone. One tap, and I was blinded by the bright light. But seeing it through, I read the time out-loud. "10:21 AM."

He groans, falling back to the soft bed. "Really? That late in the morning...? Jeez... maybe I shouldn't have had that one glass of wine. That really messed me up. How was your soda?"

Being pregnant has its perks; this perk was that I couldn't have alcohol at any point of time. "It was alright. Though I miss the taste of wine... I'm just glad I'm not in a position like you. Come on, you gotta drive. Your rule to me was that I shouldn't drive when I'm pregnant."

"Ugh... I did say that..."

"Get up... I want pancakes. Doesn't that sound good? Butter... syrup... come on... please? I want pancakes. When a pregnant woman wants something... shouldn't you give it to her? Can't you get me pancakes for breakfast?"

Levi chuckled, rising from the bed and planting a kiss on my lips. "Alright... fine. Let's go and get pancakes."

My child self leaped out and corrupted my adult self. My arms wrapped around him as this irresistible smile grew and grew. "I love you!"

His hands rose up my back, and he smiled back to me. For some reason, that smile made me feel so... happy inside. My heart began to flutter just at the sight of that smile. "I love you, just as always, my Hanji." He leaned forward, planting another kiss on my lips. "Hurry it up then. Don't want to be late for the breakfast special."

There goes his weird, erratic behavior again. Constantly, he kept checking his phone- like he was waiting for something. His phone wasn't on mute or vibrate- which is weird. He was... really waiting for something. When he got what he needed, he stopped whatever he was doing and texting back. Though I read his facial expressions... it was more of a... worrying facial expression.

But it did eat at me. Once I reached my limit, I reached forward and put my hand on his phone. He looks at me with his gray eyes- I swear that he was staring at me like I wasn't supposed to read whatever he was texting. "Something wrong?" He says, turning off his phone and putting it off to the side.

"Yeah, you. Something's wrong with you. Why are you doing that?"

"I need to make sure something goes right, Hanji." Hearing that sounded like it was a lie, but it felt like the truth. "Something came up recently, and I need to ensure that it goes the way it was supposed to go."

"How recent?"

"Yesterday."

"For work? Or for your little side job, Levi?"

He winced when I said that second part. I guess he was expecting me to say his job as a singer. But it was relieved quickly, as I didn't actually say it. "Wanna go looking for cribs for the baby, Hanji?"

"You're avoiding the question."

With all that reassurance last night, for some reason... his words just seem... unnatural. "Hanji, trust me, alright? Don't get worried about me. It causes you stress. Just calm down, and just breathe. I'll focus all of this afternoon with you. Cancel everything else today. Just for you."

I scoffed softly, shaking my head a bit. "It's like you're buying me back..."

"That's... that's not what I'm trying to do." Levi stuttered the first few words as he continued to speak. "Listen, just don't worry about it. Promise. I rather not have you involved with... what I'm involved in now. Just... let's focus on the baby together."

Reluctantly, I nodded my head. "Okay... fine... but you have to explain everything about your little stress problem once it's fixed. I need to know."

"A done deal."

My mind was finally cleared with the theory that Levi was cheating on me in plain sight. One look at the cribs in the baby section of the department store, we finally picked one. A dark wooden crib. White would've been easier to dirty- in Levi's words. So we got that crib. Levi and I had a debate about what kind of toys we should've gotten the baby. We left the store without buying toys- just a crib.

Levi promised that we would set up the crib once we got home... and that... it made my heart leap in joy. Finally taking care of the baby... it was some sort of bond that I couldn't let go of. The drive back home was anxious yet exciting. My leg couldn't stop shaking- but if it did, my fingers tapped on the door.

"Hanji, calm down." Levi says with a small chuckle. His gray eyes never left the road ahead. "You're scaring me a bit."

"Sorry... I'm just... eccentric at the moment. Finally setting up the crib in our room. Can you believe it? A few more months, and we can see this baby's gender. Then, we can plan names... plan pictures... celebrate a few-"

"You're really taking this deeply, aren't you?"

I nodded my head, gazing upon the road home. "Of course."

"Hold your excitement until we get home. Just don't run inside. I don't want to run over to you if you trip or something. At least attempt to contain your excitement until we're inside of the house. At least I can catch you before you fall."

Smiling softly, I nodded my head with a slight promise holding me down. "Alright."

A second after Levi turned off the car, I bolted out of the car. Levi quickly shouts my name, but I couldn't wait. Not yet. I opened the trunk and attempted to take it out. Thankfully, Levi stopped me. He scoffed, rolling his eyes gently when he grabbed the crib,

"Hold on, Hanji. You can't carry heavy objects."

"Hurry up! Faster! Faster!" I shrieked, chuckling a bit when Levi took his sweet time with the crib. "Come on, Levi..."

He scoffs once more. "Sheesh..."

A step inside the house, and there was this weird chemical smell in the air. I stopped in my tracks, trying to find the source of the smell. At that time, Levi walked in with the crib. He didn't seem to be bothered by the smell. I followed after him, trying to tell him about the smell, but he ignored me.

Quickly, I opened our door- but Levi didn't walk in. "Hey... where are you going?" Complaints began to fill my mouth when Levi just stood there. "Levi?"

"You wanted to know what was I stressing about, correct?" A nod of my head, I confirmed it. "Well... here's the source. Do you really want to see it, Hanji?" Curiosity filled me up. I nodded my head energetically. "Open that door, but beware."

"Come on, it can't be that bad." My hand laid on the doorknob, slowly turning it and pushing against it. "What kind of stress is-"

"Surprise!" Taken aback by those cries, my hand laid on my heart to try and control my breathing. Nanaba, Isabel, and Farlan were standing with a small cake out in front. On the white cake laid these green words, "Congrats!"

"W-What is this?" I turned back to Levi, seeing him smirk. "Levi, you were... planning this?"

"Ever since you thought I was cheating... I asked of them to help me out with making a nursery. This was one of the surprises I was planning for you- and that's the truth. Hear me out, okay? Was the secret worth it?"

A smile fell upon my face when I turned back to him. I kissed him, nuzzling my head into him. "It was worth it every second of it. Now, I think it'll be better to plan surprises without actually worrying me. That whole time, I was really dedicated to end your life if you were cheating. Hide it better next time... though it would be much more difficult with my high IQ."

"Oh... I've learned my lesson, Hanji. Now... get inside, enjoy some cake, and let's build our baby a crib."
