Chapter 56: Away...

Hanji's POV

Waking up to an empty bed... I couldn't help but feel some sort of disappointment. On the other days, I had morning sickness or just needed to puke, Levi was always there. For some reason, today was different... why do I feel a pit in the bottom of my stomach?

Carefully, I got up and looked around. Raven was still asleep, curled up with Tottie. I smile before grabbing my room key and heading downstairs. Taking the elevator to the main lobby. A small glance at the clock, seeing it was 5 am. Why do I feel something bad is happening...?

The elevator dings and my journey downstairs is complete. I didn't have to turn the corner when I heard their voices.

"Are you seriously going to do it?!" Petra's voice, followed by... Levi's.

"I hear it from Hanji, and I don't need to hear it from you!" I quickly hid behind a pillar as they walk into view. "So please, drop it."

Levi walks toward me as Petra quickly follows after him. "Hanji would kill me if something bad happens to you!"

"She wouldn't! Not you!" Levi brushes Petra off as he sighed heavily. "This is stupid... I don't even see why we decided to tell you first and not Hanji."

"You said she was asleep and you didn't want to wake her."

"That was before you guys told me it was about your ex-husband. Now, did you sign the papers?"

"What? No, I didn't-."

"Petra, just sign the goddamn papers." Levi continued to walk toward me, and our eyes met. "Hanji? What are you doing downstairs?"

Reluctantly, I stepped out from behind the pillar, revealing myself. Petra's eyes were also wide with surprise to see me down here. "I... I woke up, couldn't find you in the room... came downstairs to hopefully find you. And... I did. Levi, what's going on?"

Levi sighed, walking over to me. "We found Petra's ex, the guy who broke your leg. And... we're planning to... you know..." Before I could open my mouth, Levi quickly says,  "And you're not coming."

"What?! No, Levi, that is dangerous! I need to come with you-."

"Hanji, you're pregnant, and I don't want him to hurt you again. Not you or the baby. I promised that he is never going to hurt you ever again, you hear me? You're staying here."

"You're not going to go alone, Levi.  You need someone to be with you-."

"And there will be." Petra?! "Erwin's coming with me. Just me and him. It's fine, Hanji. Please, don't worry. If you're worried about Erwin being executed for killing a human, I'll be doing the killing blow." Levi reached his hands to me, pulling me down for a small kiss on the lips. "I'll be fine, okay? And when I come back with a few injuries, then you can berate and punish me as you see fit."

I didn't like it... not one bit. Levi is going away... with Erwin... Erwin will keep him in check for me... but I'm scared... "Even just a scratch... I will punish you..."

Levi smiles, "Fine by me."

"When will you leave?"

"As soon as I can... but I want to say goodbye to Raven first."

"How long will you be gone?"

"A week, two weeks at most." I look down, sighing as I know I cannot fight this. One of the few fights I had to lose to Levi. "I'll be back, I promise. I would do anything to come back to you."

"I know..." I forced a smile before kissing his lips. "Levi... I will murder you if you come back dead."

"How does that make sense?" We exchange a small laugh as we both went upstairs to Raven... who was still asleep.

"Do you have to go?" Raven quietly asks Levi as she clutched onto Tottie tightly. I could tell she wanted to cry or plead with him to stay... "Daddy..."

Levi knelt to the ground, kissing Raven's forehead, "I won't be gone too long, okay? And I need you to do a job." Levi took a glance at me, smiling, "Listen to Mommy and take care of her, okay? She needs your help with your little sibling."

Raven glances over at me, "You'll be back, right?"

"Of course."

"Good luck, Daddy!"

Levi then approaches me, taking my hand and kissing the back of it. "I'll be back. I'll remember our promise."

I smiled softly, kissing his lips. "Be safe..."

"I will." Erwin then tugs at Levi, "Okay, I'll see you soon."

I waved goodbye, but Raven was the one that darted after him. I call her name, but she only transformed back into her wolf form, running after Levi. Of course, I ran after her, worried she'll be a stowaway and she might get lost. But Raven stayed outside of the hotel, watching the car pull out.

She then starts to howl, not that powerful since she's still young. I could see Levi rolling the window down, poking his head out, and waving to us. Raven didn't stop until they were out of sight when she turned back into a human.

"Mommy, I want Daddy back..."

I pick her up from the ground, holding her tightly, making sure her stuffed animal wouldn't fall from her grasp. "I know... I want him back too. But he'll be back. I know that for sure. Want to get some ice cream to cheer up?"

"But Daddy's not eating ice cream..."

"I know... but when he comes back, we can eat cake. Ice cream cake. I promise. And Daddy always keeps his promise..." I'm lying to myself... I know Levi might not keep his promise of being unharmed... but I don't want Raven to cry...
