Chapter 44: Let Fate Decide
Levi's POV
Petra began to tell me about how she met her ex-husband. She was at a coffee shop when she met Alex Falrin. They began to flirt with each other after seeing each other there day after day. That was 4 years ago. A year after they met, Petra got pregnant and gave birth to Klaus Ral. After his birth, Alex proposed to Petra and they got married shortly after. That's when Alex's true colors were revealed.
Petra revealed how he got controlling and tried to monopolize the custody of Klaus. When she finally had enough, she moved out but was unable to have Klaus. She tried her best to get him... and it wasn't until today when she wanted to fully divorce Alex and gain full custody of Klaus. That explains the black eye as he gave it to her.
"I'm surprised you came to my house than to go to a hotel or something."
"He's a police officer. I feared that he would find me at a hotel. That's why I immediately thought of you...he doesn't know you at all. But I'm planning to go to my dad's-."
"He moved, did you know?"
"He... he what?" Petra's eyes widened, "Where to?"
"Across the country. You changed your phone number before telling your dad. He sent me letters over the past few years, worried that he hasn't heard from you. Are you okay with traveling across the country to your dad with your son?"
Petra sighed, "I don't know... I just want to get out of the police's jurisdiction. But I know sometimes, police officers have connections to other stations, and I'm just...scared."
I let the spaghetti sauce simmer as the spaghetti noodles were cooking. "Keep an eye on the stove." I walked away from the kitchen, seeing Hanji smiling with Petra's son. As she said, they were watching a train movie that Eren likes. That boy was smiling... and it lit a soft fire in my heart.
I tapped Hanji's shoulder, scaring her. "Hey, can we talk, Hanji?"
I dragged her upstairs to talk. "Levi, what's going on?"
"I wanted to update you about Petra's situation. Part of me wants to let her and her son stay here for as long as it takes. But a part of me says no... mostly because I'm scared. I'm scared of what you might think."
"What happened?"
I relayed everything back to her, seeing her nod in agreement. "I agree... I think it's fine to let her stay for a bit..."
"And I don't want to hide anything from her. She doesn't know about Raven or you and Annabelle. I'm surprised she didn't ask about the wolf yet."
"What wolf- oh... me..." Hanji chuckles, "How silly of me. I think it's safe to tell her what I am... what I am and what Raven is... I rather she is aware of the truth about us instead of hurting us in the future. Oh... she'll freak out when she realizes I was Annabelle."
"Still tell the truth that I knew you were a werewolf when I brought you into this house for the first time?"
Hanji nods, "It's for the best..." Hanji sighed, planting a kiss on my lips. She then proceeded to brush her body against mine. "Levi, I love you..."
I smiled, kissing her back. I gently pushed her against an empty wall, feeling her body with my hands and a smirk on my face. "Right now? You're very naughty, Hanji..."
We made out upstairs as I kept feeling her entire body. Petra's voice called out, informing me that the spaghetti is done. Pulling myself away from Hanji, I took her hand and we walked downstairs. We soon began to start making bowls of spaghetti before eating at the table.
For some odd reason, Klaus didn't eat when we were eating. "Klaus, why aren't you eating?" Hanji asks.
He shivers a bit, "C-Can I?"
"Of course, you can. You don't need to ask to eat dinner, Klaus." Hanji says softly with a smile on her face. "Not here, okay? It's alright. And you can watch TV in the living room, okay?" I looked at her weirdly, but I knew exactly what she was trying to do.
Klaus then picked up his food and carefully walked into the living room. We didn't talk until we heard the children's movie starting back up.
I sighed, turning to Petra, "Hanji and I talked it over... you can stay here as long as you need to. But since we're allowing you to stay, there are a few things you need to know. And please don't freak out." Nudging Hanji's arm with my elbow, Hanji began to speak.
"I... I'm a werewolf."
Petra froze, looking at Hanji with fear. "W-What...?"
"Long story short... there are two types of werewolves. The ones that kill humans and the ones that live among them. I'm the one that lives among them."
"H-How... did you meet Levi..."
"He accidentally hit me with his car... then took me in as a wolf."
Petra soon put the pieces together, "A-Annabelle...?" Hanji nods her head to confirm it. "You... were a wolf... oh my god..." Petra shook her head. "Levi, you believed her-."
"I did. She was the one who helped me find the werewolves that do kill humans. I love her, Petra... I love Hanji." I kissed Hanji's lips, smiling softly. "And I'm glad to be her husband and father of our child."
"Child...? You have a kid?"
I nod, "She's sleeping right now."
"How old is she?"
"6 months."
Petra's face continued to fall into despair. I nearly forgot the reason why we broke up. She wanted a family. She wanted me as her husband and she wanted children. I kept leaving for the werewolf hunts, and she couldn't take it anymore. Realizing that I had what she wanted with a different woman... that must break her heart.
I apologize to her... but Hanji... despite her being a werewolf, she's someone I can rely on while on hunts... and we can raise Raven together. We can also have her trained as a human and as a werewolf with Hanji's pack. I learned a lot of things from Hanji and her pack... and I couldn't have been more in love if I had stayed with Peta...
Hanji opened my eyes to the werewolf world...
And I love her...
