Chapter 38: Dog Treats
Levi's POV
Hanji's been hating the idea of me leaving her home while I do my hunts. I can't help but need her to be home. She's already 3 months pregnant and it's already showing. If something happens to her... not only would she get hurt but the baby. And speaking of the baby, she's been arguing with me that the baby's a girl and not a boy.
I got home from the grocery store, buying a few things for dinner tonight when I spot Hanji on the living room couch. "What are you eating?"
She holds up a bag of dog treats, smirking, "These are delicious. I don't know why humans get all upset about eating these things. Dogs are lucky to be eating these snacks."
"Hanji, they're dog treats. Dog. Treats."
"So? It's delicious. Here, try one!" She tried to stuff a dog treat in my face with a smirk. "Come on, Levi. It's better than beef jerky."
"Thanks, but no thanks. Those are dog treats, and you're-."
"A werewolf, I know. But still... it's pretty good. Tasty as well."
"I'm never going to eat bacon or beef jerky ever again." I began to put the groceries into the kitchen as I hear someone getting to their feet and running toward me. "Hanji! No, get that dog treats away from me! Hanji, no!"
"Hanji, yes!" She giggles, kissing my lips. "I missed you..."
"I missed you too, but you taste like dog treats, and I don't like dog treats. Brush your teeth and ensure that your mouth is squeaky clean and free from those dog treats. No more kisses from me."
She began to whimper, and I could hear it... very dog-like...
"Aw... come on, please?"
"It's either that or no more dog treats for you. I still can't understand why you're eating dog treats that are for dogs. Not for... for werewolves. I never thought you guys would eat dog treats."
"It's very delicious..."
"Brush your teeth. No more kisses from me."
Hanji rolled her eyes, dragging her feet to the bathroom. "Fine..." I watch her quickly slip her bag of dog treats into her arms and upstairs. I shook my head in denial, hoping that it was not her secret craving. I hope she can find another food addiction that's not dog treats.

I love my wife...
While she was taking her afternoon nap, I decided to go out to the pet store and buy her a few dogs toys. If she was going to eat dog treats, might as well buy her some toys. Speaking of her toys... I don't think we ever got to remove the chip in her neck that was implanted when she was a wolf... I chuckle to myself, it's like a tracker. After Hanji gives birth to our baby, we'll get the chip removed.
When I returned home with the toys, I could've sworn I saw a familiar car outside, but I don't know who it was. It drove away before I could've gotten a closer look. Who was it? I wondered, sighing softly.
I twist the ring on my finger, feeling it tight. But I never thought to take it off. Other than showering, at night, and during my hunts, that ring has always been on my finger. I made a promise to Hanji that I'll always display it... that seemed to make her heart leap. Yes, I know that there are humans out there that cheat despite being married, but I know that there is no other woman that would steal me away from my wife.
Speaking of her being my wife... it's a little weird to be called her husband. I still need to get used to the fact that I'm married and I'm a husband... and I'll be a father soon. This year just fills my list of titles I've earned. What else am I going to earn?
I walked back inside of my house and climbing up the stairs to find the rare and unique Hanji sprawled out on the bed. One hand was on her growing baby bump while the other was above her head. I watched her chest slowly rise and fall, telling me that she's still alive. I smiled, tossing the bag of toys on the side before climbing into the shower.
I'll make dinner after I shower... but seeing Hanji like that... that's adorable... what will she say about the dog toys?

"Seriously?!" Hanji screeched at me as I held smirked with my head held high. She threw one of the squeaky toys at me, and I dodged it. "Levi, I'm not a dog!"
"Then why the hell were you eating dog treats?"
"It was delicious!"
"I thought it was funny," I chuckled, seeing Hanji's face turn as red as a tomato. She was about to throw this wooden stick at me, but she withdrawn the thought. "Come on, it's a joke."
"I know... I know, I know, I know." She sighs heavily, breathing deeply. "Sorry, I just woke up, I'm just... getting so exhausted... it's going to get worse as the months go on, right? Oh jeez..."
