Hanji's POV

We finished eating our pizza as we began to get ready for bed. Unlike me, Levi wants to continue looking for different places where werewolves could hide. Now that I told him about the possibility that werewolves could be sleeping in different places, he wants to find out places where they'll be.

"Levi, didn't you say we'll work in the morning?"

"I did."

"Then why aren't you sleeping? I've noticed you have trouble sleeping."

"Most of the time when I'm sleeping, you're not in the same room as me. How do you know I have trouble sleeping."

I shrugged my shoulders slightly. "It's your heartbeat. When I know you're asleep, I hear your heart beating softly... steadily... I listen to it... sometimes..." I say while giving a sheepish smile. "Weird, I know... but it's very soothing to hear, I only hear you sleep about... 2 hours at a time. You sleep... what? 4 hours total?"

"Does it matter?"

"You should sleep."

"Later."

"Then I'll sleep later."

"What? No, go to sleep."

I crossed my arms, almost growling at him. I plopped myself on one of the beds. Then, I stared at Levi. Though I'm sure he would win any staring contest. "Then you need to go to sleep too, Levi. Why don't you want to sleep? Don't you have sleeping pills? Did you stop taking them?"

Levi closed his laptop as he sighed heavily. "When I sleep, I see her. I see Petra. I know I agreed to the case to get her out of my head... but I remember that whenever I was gone, I slept as much as possible to believe that I was sleeping next to her. Wherever I go... I still see her... I still feel her warmth in my arms. No matter what, she's still here."

Another human feeling that I still need to understand.

"Oh..."

"It's not your fault," He says, getting up from his seat, turning off some of the lights. "Just don't worry about it. We'll work on it tomorrow, okay? This I promise." He then crawls into his bed, and I don't hear his steady heartbeat until 2 hours later.

What can I do to soothe his pain? I could feel a thorn in my heart every time I feel his pain...
