(Y/N)'s POV

'How could this have happened......

It should have been me.....no him'

I thought to myself as I looked down at the body I held do tight in my arms.

~~~Earlier~~~

We were outside of the walls on an expedition , and me and Levi separated from the rest of the soldiers so cover more ground so we went into the forest.

As we were arriving into he forest we saw a horde of titans, Levi looked over at me as if saying ' Are you ready?'.

I nodded my head, and we used our maneuvering gear and we started slicing the napes of the necks.

After we got all the titans done we settled on a big ass tree limb. I started to check on my gear and I realised mine was almost out of gas. I started to panic on the inside, ' what if I don't have enough to make it back to the rest of the group?'.

As I was having an internal panic, I didn't realise a Titan was coming our way, until Levi shook me out of my panic. I looked at Levi and then over at the Titan and I gasped.

"I thought we got all of them Captain?"

"Tch, we must have missed one."

I started to get ready but Levi came over and took off my maneuvering gear.

"Sir what are you-"

"Your low on gas I assume?" He interrupted me.

I looked at him astonished, "How did-?"

"It doesn't matter (Y/N), take mine." He started to give me his but I declined.

"No Levi I couldn't..."

He looked at me with his stoic expression,

"Just take it brat."

"But-"

"Damn it (Y/N) just take the damn gear!"

I flinched when he yelled his last statement and took his gear, then I saw him take mine and put it on him.

"Captain Levi mine is-"

" I know " He looked over at me.

"Are you seriously going to kill that Titan with low gas?"

He just looks at me.

"What if it runs out while your fighting the Titan and you get yourself killed?!?!" I started to panic.

He walked over to me and he put his hands on my shoulder making me look up at him.

He had a small smile on his face

I blushed, because Levi never smiled, I felt honored to stand in this moment and see it.

But I never knew this will be first and last time I would see that smile.

He looked at me with that smile on his face and said

"If it has to be that way then so be it, I'll die protecting you (Y/N)."

And with that his smile faded.

"Go back to the rest I'll take care of this one."

My eyes widen as I heard what he said.

"No Levi I can't."

He looked at me over his shoulder, "What was that?"

"I said I can't Levi....I can't leave you alone." I started to tear up.

Levi walked back over to me and put a hand on my cheek. "It's ok I have accepted my fate (Y/N)."

More tears leaked out of my eyes and I shook my head.

"But why?, You're Humanities Strongest you can't die now."

"If it's to protect you then I will"

"But what are you protecting me from Levi?"

"Dieing in this battle"

With that he leaned down and kissed me on the lips, my eyes widen but then I shut them to enjoy the kiss. Levi pulled away and then he used the gear to get to the Titan.

I was stunned and blushing. I touched my lips feeling that his lips were on it.

As I was distracted I didn't notice what was happening with Levi.

But when I was about to go save him I was too late....

~~Present~~

I saw his body laying in a pool of his own blood. I gasped and raced my way down towards him tears blinding my eyes. I kneeled next to him taking him in my arms.

"Levi.......why?"

"Why did you have to do that you idiot, you're Humanities Strongest, it should be me in your place."

"And just when you kissed me.....did you mean it Captain?"

I looked down at him in my arms, then crying on his chest holding him tight.

"Does this mean you return my feelings......... my love?"
