Third Person POV

"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray. You'll never know dear, how much I love you. Please don't take my sunshine away."

A (e/c) eyed girl quietly sang to herself as she cleaned her dorm in the Scouts' HQ.

"(F/n), it's time for dinner!"

"Coming!"

She replied, setting down the duster she had. Opening her door to reveal Eren, they walked side-by-side to the mess hall.

"I heard you singing again."

He bluntly spoke up after a moment of silence.

"You did?"

"Yeah... You have such a b-beautiful voice."

He looked away to hide his blush.

"Aw, thanks, Eren."

She sweetly smiled (up/down) at him.

"Oh, looks like we're here. After you,"

Eren held the door open for her.

"Thanks."

When they walked inside, they got their tray of food and went to find a table.

"There's Mikasa and Armin."

Eren pointed the two out.

(F/n) nodded and the two sat down with the others at their table.

The whole time they ate, someone in particular was watching them. Especially (f/n).

"What'cha lookin' at, shorty?"

"Tch. I'm not looking at anyone."

"Oh~ But I didn't mention a person..."

She giggled.

"Shut up."

He glared at her.

"All right brats, it's cleaning day. Group 1 can clean the stables. Group 2, mess hall. Group 3, hallways. Group 4, bathrooms. And group 5, yard work. When you finish, then clean your dorm."

The soldiers saluted to him before leaving to clean the place they were assigned.

"Oh, what about me, Captain?"

(F/n) asked, walking into the mess hall where they were.

Levi turned around and narrowed his steel blue eyes on her.

"Tch. You, brat, can clean my office."

"O-Okay, sir."

She saluted.

"Don't just stand there, get your ass to my office and clean it already!"

"Y-Yes, sir."

She scrambled out of the mess hall and to the cleaning supplies closet in the hallway.

As she was cleaning his office, she started to quietly sing again.

"The other night dear, when I lay sleeping I dreamt I held you in my arms. When I awoke dear, I was mistaken. So I hung my head and cried. You are my sunshine my only sun-"

"Would you shut the hell up, brat?"

Levi interrupted when he entered his office.

"Sorry, s-sir..."

She mumbled, cleaning silently now.

Time Skip

It was at the end of the day now and (f/n) just got in the shower before bed.

Since Levi wouldn't allow her to sing while she was cleaning, she decided she would finish now.

Getting out of the shower, she changed into her night clothes and brushed her (h/l) (h/c) hair out.

*Morning*

(F/n) accidentally slept in today and she was currently running to the mess hall where there was an important announcement.

Thankfully, she made it just in time.

"Good morning, Scouts. I wanted to inform you that we will be going out on an expedition in about two weeks. So prepare yourselves. Train hard and get plenty of rest until then. That is all, you may be dismissed."

The Commander announced.

Everyone saluted before going to get breakfast.

"A mission already? Seems like not that long ago since our last one."

"Really? It feels like it's been forever!"

Hanji shouted from the other side of the table.

"Hey, what's (f/n) doing?"

Everyone looked over at her, at the other end of the table. She was humming again.

"(F/n)?"

"(F/n)? Hello? Earth. To. (F/-)"

"What?"

"There she is."

Connie said.

"What is it?"

"Why do you sing that song so much? Literally like twelve times a day."

Eren asked.

"Because my mom would always sing it to me before bed, when I was younger."

"Oh..."

(F/n) looked down at her lap, remembering her mother.

She passed away a few years ago before (f/n) joined the military.

*Night before the expedition*

"Hey, (f/n)!"

"O-Oh, hi."

She smiled back to Eren.

"So, um... Armin, Mikasa and I were going to go hang out outside. Did you want to join?"

"Oh. Um... No thanks. I gotta do something before the expedition tomorrow."

"Like what?"

"Sorry, I can't say. It's personal."

"Oh."

"But hey, maybe some other time after the mission. Okay?"

"Okay. Promise me though."

"Promise."

She giggled before slipping back to her dorm.

When she sat down at her desk, she pulled out a pen and paper.

She started writing a letter and was carefully writing in cursive.

*Knock, knock*

"(F/n)? You in there?"

It was Hanji.

"Uh, yeah..."

"Can I come in?"

"I-In a minute, I'm doing something."

"Okay!"

When she finished the letter, she sealed it in an envelope. After she wrote the person's name, whom she'd give it to, she put the letter back in her desk.

I'll give it to him when we come back from the expedition, tomorrow.

She walked over to her door and opened it, revealing Hanji.

"Finally!"

She groaned, coming in.

"What was it you needed?"

"Just wanted to tell you that I know a secret."

"A secret?"

"Hehe, one of Corporal shorty's secrets!"

"You're insane."

(F/n) sighed.

"Can't I tell y-"

"Please don't."

"Suit yourself."

She shrugged, leaving the room.

(F/n) rolled her eyes and sat down on her bed.

"Tomorrow's gonna be a long day."

She mumbled before humming her song again.

*Expedition*

"Armin! There's a thirteen meter abnormal Titan behind you!"

(F/n) yelled out to him.

Armin started screaming and he whipped his horse's reins to make it go faster.

He's never going to outrun that Titan! I gotta act fast or that's the end of him!

Drawing out her swords, (f/n) swung towards the Titan.

She went for the Achilles' tendon but nothing happened. This wasn't right.

What the hell?

While she was too distracted with the fact that the Titan didn't fall over, it stepped right on her.

"(F/N)!!!"

Armin screamed, tears pouring out of his ocean blue eyes.

Eren heard Armin screaming while he rode a bit ahead of him with squad Levi.

Eren's eyes widened as he watched his friend turn around and go towards the body on the ground.

"Captain! Look!"

Eren shouted, pointing towards the Titan that was about to reach out for Armin.

"Shit."

Levi quietly cursed, ordering his squad to turn around.

A few took care of the Titan while the others went to assist (f/n).

Levi's breath hitched when he saw the condition she was in.

Her lifeless body lay there, every bone broken and squished.

*The next day*

Levi walked into (f/n)'s dorm room with tear stained cheeks and red eyes.

He was gathering up her belongings to send back to her family in Wall Maria.

He packed up everything in her dresser first and now her desk.

As he took her stuff out, something fell on the ground.

"What's this?"

He asked himself, picking up the envelope.

He flipped it over and saw:

"Levi"

Written on it.

Furrowing his brows, he sat down on her bed and opened it.

"Levi,

I don't know what to say, so I'll keep it simple. You are my sunshine. You don't know it, but you've been there for me this whole time. My only sunshine. There's been a few times where I've thought about ending it all. But I didn't because of you. You make me happy when skies are gray.

I may have seemed so happy and perky, but on the inside I was a mess. You'll never know dear how much I love you. I love you, Levi. So much. You're the reason why I'm still here today. So thank you, Captain.

~(F/n)"

"I can't believe she was in a dark place... And she's gone now, anyways... But she loved me?"

Levi broke down again.

The door creaked open and Hanji walked in.

"Oh~ Levi..."

She gave him a face full of pity.

"What's that?"

She asked, looking down at the letter in his hands.

"R-read it..."

He handed it over to her.

"Oh my God."

She mumbled, wiping her eyes.

"You a-are my... Sunshine..."

"Levi...?"

"My only s-sunshine..."

"Man. Ever since (f/n) passed, Captain Levi has done nothing but sing that stupid song."

Jean rolled his eyes.

"Shut up, horse-face! That's all he has left to remind himself of her!"

Eren punched his shoulder.

Honestly, I'm not a fan on how this one turned out.

It was all good up until the expedition when it all got jumbled and a mess was made. Fuck.

I'm not even gonna try to fix it. Screw it.

Whatever. I've worked for a few weeks on this one and just didn't have any ideas for it besides the song that inspired me :P

Idk if I'll keep this one up cuz it's dumb with a capital DUMB

I lost my mojo on this one to try and make it sad :<
