(TIME SKIP (Because I'm lazy) BROUGHT TO YOU BY LEVI'S SHEER AWESOMENESS: A week later)

The ball was NOT merely a day away. It wasn't near... it was here. By now, thanks to Levi Heichou's epic, mad, cleaning commands, the castle's exterior and interior shined like a brand new coin. The tables had all been set up, as well as the rest of the decorations. He had been setting up the a part of the ballroom into a makeshift (yet fancy) stage for the orchestra ensemble, and every room shined like a brand-new coin fresh out of one's pocket. It didn't hurt that he had forced practically the entire Survey Corps to clean the castle inside and out everyday before the ball, but now the day was almost here, and all they needed to do was get themselves ready. Big problem, considering this was a big, fancy, royal-people worthy (even though the poorest man was invited) party... right? NOT!! As a thanks for preparing the castle, Queen Historia had gifted the entire Survey Corps complete help a.k.a. Free tuxedo/dress fittings from her tailors, free spas and makeovers, etc. And these people were Historia's best, so the Survey Corps would definitely be covered. They had all decided that it should be best to do it all tomorrow, since that was the day of the ball, and that would mean the Survey Corps would all look a fresh as daisies. However, there was one thing that Historia could not help with... and that was their dates. Though some people needed to find out who to take PRONTO, Levi had it covered. He knew who he wantedAll the Survey Corps needed to do was get a date and get fancy... unless if they didn't want a date. That means they just had to get fancy. But Levi knew who he wanted to ask. He looked across the ballroom at Petra, who was double-checking that everything was done right. Her orange hair seemed to fly in the wind (it should be in mind that a few windows were open for some sunlight), and her amber eyes glowed in the light. God, each and every day, she grew to become more angelic.

"Levi Heichou?" Eren said, immediately bringing the love-struck personified stone out of his daydream.

"What is it, Yeager!"

"Ummm.... Auruo had a question," Eren said before doing... meh, Levi didn't care.

Levi turned his head to find his personal mimicker staring at him with confusion in his eyes. It had been a week since Auruo made a fool of himself by literally mimicking Levi with his back turned. To be fair, the tongue-biting copycat wasn't aware of the fact that Levi was right behind him, but it was still stupid.

Meh. He's apologized several times, Levi said as he looked Auruo in the eye.

"Ummm... Heichou, I-I- I ne-,"

"What is it, Bozad?"

"H-Heichou, I-I,"

"Speak up!"

"I NEED SOME ADVICE!!"

Levi raised an eyebrow before going back to his usual face-expression.

What does he need advice for?

"What is it,"

"You-you see," Auruo took a deep breath in order to help his stuttering disappear, "I want to ask this girl to the dance, but I don't know how I should do it."

Levi raised his eyebrow once again, but this time, he didn't even bother to put it back down. It was strange Auruo came to him for dating advice. He himself didn't even know how to confess his feelings to Petra. But then again, there must have been something about Levi Heichou that gave off the idea that he knew stuff like this, so he decided to give him an answer anyway.

"Well, if this girl is very special to you, then just go up and ask her out. Be straight-forward, but not too straight-forward. And you also have to be kind. But do know that is this person rejects you, don't feel all depressed or anything s**tty like that, because they don't deserve to have the good-hearted person that is you. And if she does say yes, then she is very lucky."

"Really? Thanks, Heichou!" Auruo said before saluting to the captain. After that, he ran off to the other side of the big room.

Now that that's over-with. But Levi had to admit. Auruo may be an annoying copycat who bites his tongue a lot, but he is kind, and whoever dates him would be lucky to have him. Levi turned his head around, hoping to double-check that everything was prepared for tonight. However, he turned around... only for a certain Titan brat to smirk in his face.

"That was beautiful, sir," Eren snickered, "You should try all that corny crap out sometime with Petra."

Levi could feel the anger boil inside of his blood, but he wasn't about to make a mess when he just got everything perfect, but he knew he had to get back at Eren with something. But suddenly, just like a lantern in his mind, Levi had an extremely brilliant idea.

"That reminds me, Yeager... how are things with the Female Titan."

Upon hearing those words, Eren immediately stopped smirking and blushed. After Levi saved Annie from execution, well, long story short (A/N: It's okay, Ereannie shippers. You'll get the long story soon, in my future Eren x Annie story, "Redemption"), Levi assigned Eren to get information from Leonhart, which meant spending a lot of time with her. But that's not what you're here for. Now let us get back to the story, shall we?

"Her name's Annie," Eren said, practically whispering.

"I don't give a crap. How are things?"

"Well, you should know that I've got a lot of information and-"

"I don't mean the information, idiot. I'm talking about... you know."

Eren didn't know what to say and just stood there as his cheeks became the color of the sunrise when it's red color. This was almost intriguing for Levi.

"Ummmm, well-Oh! Auruo's coming back!" Eren said as Auruo ran up to Levi, panting like a maniac.

"Heichou! Heichou! I did it! I took your advice, and she said yes!!!"

Levi could have smiled, as he was happy for Auruo, but then again, he doesn't do stuff like that. He's Levi Ackerman, Captain of the Survey Corps!

"Congratulations, Auruo!" Eren exclaimed.

"Thanks, Eren." Auruo said, smiling.

"Good job," Levi said before patting Auruo on the back, "But might I ask... who's the lucky girl."

"You-you really wanna know?" Auruo asked.

"I do, so I can congratulate her for catching a good fish from the sea," Levi replied, "So who is it."

"Okay, here goes.......... (A/N: Again, please don't kill me. This won't last long, I promise!!!).................................. It's Petra!!"

At that moment, Levi felt as if a cold, hard, sharp slab of metal went through his chest... again and again. Did Auruo just say that the girl whom he asked out to the dance was......

"Petra?" Eren finished his thoughts for him, "As in Petra.... Ral? Our Petra?"

"Is there any other Petra you know, Yeager?" Auruo chuckled.

"N-no," Eren said, "Congrats."

Fascinating tidbit: Eren wasn't that excited for Auruo, as he had gradually become a part of the Rivetra Club over time.

"Thanks," Auruo smiled, "What about you, Heichou?"

He didn't know what to say. On one hand, he felt obliged to be happy for Auruo, as he had more guts than him. On the other hand, he loved Petra with all of his heart, body, mind, and soul. Now she was taken... and it was his own fault for giving Auruo advice. He wanted to be angry at Auruo, shout in his face that Petra was his! Eventually, he picked a hand.

"Congratulations," He said in a blank voice before patting Auruo's back, "Auruo's got a girlfriend!"

Auruo smiled to himself before running off to the other side of the ballroom. Once he was out of ear-shot, Levi turned to face Eren before moaning in a sad voice,

"Auruo's got a girlfriend," Levi looked down to the floor, not wanting to look Eren in the eye.

"Oh, Heichou, I'm so sorry," Eren replied, "You want a hug??"

"Yeager."

"Yes?"

"Absolutely not!"

The orchestra ensemble had resonated across the ballroom as people dressed-up from their head to their toes were having a blast. The commoners danced the night away to the melodious tunes of the orchestra, and the upperclassmen held goblets of champagne within their fingers. They all talked, laughed, and awaited for the queen to make her grand entrance. Somewhere in the chuckling crowd of the Squad Levi soldiers, Auruo was exchanging witty banter with Petra (A/N: DON'T WORRY!!! LEVI AND PETRA WILL GET TOGETHER SOON!!), and a certain, down-in-the-dumps captain had been watching them from the sidelines, his heart breaking by the minute, yet his face didn't show it.

Next to him stood Eren Yeager, who stood there with his arms crossed as he also stared at the witty Auruo. He was seriously wishing Levi was in place of the tongue-biting copycat. But just when this party couldn't get more heart-wrenching, it did... considering the orchestra had put on the slow-dance for the couples, and Auruo had just started to dance with Petra. And to make everything even more heartbreaking for Levi... the song that they were dancing to was a melody named "Call Your Name," (A/N: It's basically if the AoT "Call Your Name" was a piano piece) a song Levi knew very well. At a young age, Levi had been taught piano by his mother, and often, as practice, they would play a piano duet, as if they were performing. "Dance of the Fireflies" would always the finishing touch, as it was always their favorite piece. But ever since his mother died, he hadn't played the piano, not even once, and yet he could still remember every key vividly, as well as the song. As the song got to the part where the piano instrumental would crescendo, Levi watched as Auruo dipped Petra with a flourish. He couldn't watch anymore.

"I will go get some more champagne," Levi said before leaving Eren be. That's what he said.

He didn't go to the refreshments table. He didn't go get two more glasses of champagne. He had walked out of the castle and had hitched a ferry (meant for the party-goers who didn't reside in Wall Sina) to Wall Rose before walking back to his room in the Survey Corps building, where he fell into a deep sleep as "Dance of the Fireflies" resonated in his ears. That night, he dreamed about Petra with her hair in curls, her petite figure laced in a cream-floral tube-dress that went down to her ankles. She was the apple of the Levi Heichou's eyes, and she still is, but he can't get her now.
