Chapter Eleven: Coming Home
Author's Note: Do know that this scene may be emotional, so prepare for the feels.
It was like living in a dream. A dream from which Levi Ackerman Heichou never wanted to wake up. Petra Ral was back. Back for good. It was all Levi could think about as the Survey Corps rode back to Wall Maria. He also snuck a few peaks at Petra (A/N: I know. I made Levi such a huge pervert. I'm so evil) He almost lost focus after seeing her ginger-colored hair flowed in his wind, her serene amber eyes, her milky skin, and her beautiful smile. He could have sworn Petra smiled at him. But do know, his face remained blank and pale.
It wasn't long before the gate of Shiganshina came in view from the horizon. The clacks and stomps of horse hooves could once again resonate in Levi's ears, however that did not stop Levi's over-hearing from hearing the words that could have broken his heart if it wasn't practically made of stone.
"Home," he heard Gunther whisper.
Levi wanted to talk to him, talk to them, but he didn't know what to say. He wasn't exactly a conversation starter. Well, he was, but he mostly excelled in conversations like different ways the Military Police do (or in this case, did) that was self-serving and/or illegal, taunts for the Marleyans, and cleaning. So I guess you could say that it was a relief when it was actually Eld, who happened to be riding next to him, was the one who mustered up the courage to start a conversation with the cold-hearted Asian-Eldian, Levi Ackerman.
"Permission to speak, sir?"
"Permission granted."
"I simply must ask," Eld said, before clearing his throat a little, "What has been going on in Paradis for the last four years,"
"Well, Eld, I honestly think there is too much for me to tell you at this moment, but do know that we succeeded on the intentions for the 57th Expedition, and we trekked to the basement, which actually held the information about the outside wall,"
"I see," Eld said, "But I was actually-"
He didn't need to continue his sentence, as Levi, being the true-topic sensor that he is, finished it for him.
"Wondering what was happening to Mrs. Gin," Levi replied. Of course, he didn't blame Eld for wanting to talk about his wife, as he hadn't seen Hannah in 4 years.
"Erm..." Eld blushed heavily, but Levi assured him that he didn't need to be embarrassed.
"I actually spoke with her after we found out about the information, when I went to deliver the news to your families," Levi replied.
"Really!?" Eld asked, looking happy.
"Yes. She called herself your widow, but I'm pretty sure she mentally changed her marital status when I revealed the news. Oh, and in case if you were wondering, your mother is still alive, and with the news, I am sure she is doing very well." If Eld wasn't pretty happy before, he was now, knowing that his mother was okay as well.
"Hannah also told me to tell you to bring you home, and I promised her that I would," Levi said.
"Well, Heichou, as you obviously know," Eld replied, a smile on his face, "you have succeeded."
Levi, of course, didn't do much accept nod simply.
"Oh, and I'm glad to see that Eren is doing well," Eld soon said afterword, "I must say, we've all missed him. Especially Petra."
Levi didn't know why, but upon hearing that, his blood began boiling at little. But of course, he cooled down knowing that Eren wouldn't attempt to "steal" Petra away from him, because not only is she years older than him, but the boy awaits someone to come out of her crystal comatose (A/N: I AM SORRY, BUT I SHIP EREANNIE REALLY HARD).
"Oh, Levi Heichou?"
"Yes?"
"We learned enough information to know about as much as you all probably know."
"I see. Well, we'll talk about it later."
"I know, but I must pull a Hange here," Eld replied, almost making Levi grin, or even laugh, "But how many years is he away from his..... expiration date," Eld became quieter on those last words, sounding like he still didn't want to believe it. Levi didn't either, but he replied anyway.
"Four years," he replied.
"And which of the Nine Titans is he?"
"The one known as the Attack Titan,"
"I had a feeling that one was him," Eld chuckled, but was interrupted from the gates opening, and the sound of Hange's chirpy voice.
"MISSION SUCCESS!!"
Levi could swear the civilians than threw a party that moment as the Survey Corps paraded in on their horses.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A "Welcome Home" party was thrown for the Squad Levi soldiers, with Petra, Eld, and Gunther smiling politely, and with Auruo showing off like a complete show-biz typhoon. And Levi achieved his promise sooner than he planned, because it turns out that the Squad Levi's soldiers families were staying in Shiganshina to await the arrival of their children. How did Levi know? Well, let's just say that a tear-faced Hannah ran to the podium the four soldiers were standing on, and just about trampled everyone there.
"ELD!!" She shouted as she ran into Eld Gin, her beloved husband's, arms. The two had their little lover's reunion before Eld's mother got in on the action. It was just like this for the rest of the soldiers. Gunther and his family enjoyed one of Gunther's home-made childhood snacks that was made just for him, Mr. and Mrs. Bozad had bawled at Auruo's arrival, refusing to let go of their son. And do know that Auruo's siblings had hugged his legs, and a few of them even punched him in the arm, while wrapping their arms around him and bawling a few seconds after. But Levi's favorite reunion was probably Petra's.
When Mr. Ral came to the podium, he looked almost as lively as he had been four years, even more knowing that his daughter was back. And yet when he and Petra saw each other again, they didn't do anything except stare at each other. But it wasn't long before they ran into each other's arms, each of them sobbing.
"PAPA!"
"Oh, Petra! You're alive!" Mr. Ral sobbed, "My Petra's alive. My baby is alive!"
They continued to sob in each other's arms, but soon, Levi could feel one, or at least ten hands on his. He turned to see all of their families with huge smiles on their faces.
"Thank you," Hannah said with tears in her eyes.
Levi simply nodded his head before walking off to find his horse, upon which Mr. Ral, who was still busy hugging his daughter, shouted out a large "Thank You" to the Survey Corps. Yes, he couldn't have said it better. They were all home. She was finally home.
Author's Note:
Sorry if that chapter was super sucky, but if it made you cry, well... don't say I didn't warn you. Just kidding! I cried three times while writing this chapter. But what do you think will happen between Levi and Petra now that they are home? Find out in the oncoming chapters!
Again, I don't own Attack on Titan! All rights go to Hajime Isayama!
Happy Reading,
