29. Roses & Thorns

"Welcome to Level 7!"

Being jolted to a standstill quite suddenly, clueless as always, not knowing where they exactly were and it was murky overall. That stomach-churning feeling befriended them without showing mercy when their gazes wandered around for any signs of longing.

Pure duskiness had even infected the air all over.

"Argh!" was the sound of Moon's groan when she founded herself smashed hardly with something on the side.

Painfully opening her eyes whilst clutching onto the newly created bump on her forehead when she got hold of herself, everything now started to come into view which only worsened her expression.

A window.

"God! Are you alright?" Before Taehyung can reach to look after her, Jimin was already there.

Jimin gently removed her hand from her forehead to properly examine the swelling. He then himself firmly pressed his palm onto the area. Soft breath hit her face when he leans closer, cupping her cheeks as his lips moved to give slight blows.

That was it, and Taehyung had no say rather than staring at them with questionable eyes. It felt like his heart had been ripped out of his chest. Confusion and anger infiltrated his bones. There was thunder in his thoughts, despair coursing through his blood, and a numbness clouding his eyes.

He tugged his steps back and turned his face to the side as he just couldn't withstand the heartbreaking sight.

He was drawn out of his conflicting, miserable trance when golden rays of light enlightened the place.

The glass windows which were making their vision blurry, wrapped with fog till now slowly visibalizing the outside view, awakening them to see hazy green flashes of light whizzing by, mottled colors ever-changing.

The surprise once again caught them off-guard.

A Train.

As Namjoon curiously glanced through the creamy walls of the window, the sky above was full of darkness with wandering coppery clouds. It was grey, unpleasant, and sombre outside with the heavens threatening to rain, deeply calling their troubled souls.

"It seems like it will pour soon," said Namjoon settling himself on the lower berth along with the others.

"Let's see where this train journey will take us, Bon Voyage!"  Yoongi heaved a sigh which he didn't know he was holding, taking a spot beside Jungkook.

"Huh? What's that?" Jin pulled down a mini silver trunk that was just lying desolated on one of the top bunks.

And when he disclosed it, a merry squeal escaped his mouth.

It was loaded with lots of food items.

In a blink of an eye, they all were taken like monkeys swooping on their stuff.

After satisfactorily munching on their food, four of them including Jungkook, Yoongi, Jin, and Namjoon had drifted into their peaceful, deep slumbers. The mild motion of the moving train lulling them to relax, and they finally got their much-awaited rest.

Meanwhile, Hoseok and Bee were engaged in their own conversation while chomping on whatever savoury they had.

Bee got confused when Hoseok chuckled all of a sudden.

"Why? Is there something on my face?"

"Yes, you've spilled some juice." Hoseok pointed in between his cute giggles.

"O-oh where?" She awkwardly moves her thumb around her mouth.

"No, no, there."

"Here?"

"Let me-"

As soon as Hoseok stood up from his seat, the train shook him with a sudden jerk and he couldn't get a hold of himself and fell forward, straight over Bee. His lips crashed right on the corner of Bee's lips, making the spilled drop of juice sucked up.

Both of their eyes grew wide as he quickly jumped back.

They both froze right on the spot, their cheekbones resembled freshly ripened cherries.

"S-sorry, I-I didn't mean to-" Hoseok was mortified as a feeling of great embarrassment flushed his face, his palms were sweaty.

"Well...maybe, there's no need for any apologies." She fiddled with her fingers.

Hoseok's eyes almost hollowed out of their cavities when Bee's rosy slender fingers grabbed his jaw and before he could process anything, she had already sealed the little (unnecessary) distance between them.

Thin lips brushed against each other, slightly pursed, sending the butterflies in the deepest pit of their bellies.

A moment of pin-drop silence filled the air when they separated.

In the shadows, her face was so close to him that he could smell her sweet fragrance. Staring into the ocean of each other's eyes, and willing to lost themselves completely within those depths, their cheeks painting with at least fifty shades of crimson hue, hearts throbbing wildly in their chests, and she again pressed her lips against his delicate pink ones like a bee that landed on a flower.

He could only cling to her as a wave of emotions surged within him and every defense washed away.

Eventually closing his eyes, Hoseok kissed her back as his hand slid down to her waist, locking the proximity, and securing every space between them.

He softly caressed her skin as the kiss deepened, her lean fingers gracefully traced along the curves of his jawline before it turned out to be a passionate one. It was a kiss that contained the sweetness of waiting for real love.

Warm, cozy breaths tickled each other's faces as they attached their foreheads after pulling apart.

"I wanted to tell you something for so long." She mumbled, looking right in his chestnut orbs.

"What?"

"I love you."

Her eyes glistened while eagerly waiting for his response.

"I love you too, Bee." After another moment of quietness, Hoseok cozied her petite body in his embrace.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

The weather outside was bleak and brisk; the greasy off-white smoke was coming from the train chimney making the atmosphere smoky and misty. The dark alleys seemed to lure into exploring them.

Leaning her head against the window, and enjoying her quality time, Moon glimpses at the beautifully serene view outside. It was indeed a source of great joy as she watched the moving sceneries. The compartment was getting cold, making her hug herself.

Despite everything, the calm journey was offering her the serendipity to stare outside the windows for countless hours.

"Why are you here all alone, Taehyung?" Jimin tapped on his shoulder, taking the empty spot next to him.

"Nothing." Even if he didn't want, Taehyung returned a forced smile.

"Jimin, can I ask you something?"

"Yes, of course, from when do you need my permission, huh?"

"C'mon tell me, what is it?" The latter nodded in assurance.

"Do you perhaps...like Moon?"

Complete tranquility took over Jimin by the sudden question which was enough to make Taehyung raise his concerns even more than he already did.

And then that one word left from Jimin's mouth which Taehyung wasn't willing to hear ever.

"Yes."

That certainly was the second when Taehyung felt the ground had slipped from under his feet. His heartbeats nearly ceased right away, as if forgot how to beat anyway.

"I had a crush on her since when we first met. I didn't realize when this friendship blossomed into something else." Jimin continued, his tone laced with shyness.

"Love."

"My heart smiles when she smiles and it cries when she cries." Jimin's every word scorched Taehyung's heart and tore every bit of him apart.

"But hey, I know you're her friend  too so don't spoil anything to her. I'm myself gonna tell her about my feelings soon."

"I can count on you, right?" Jimin looked up, anticipating the last confirmation.

"Don't worry, I will not tell anyone." Taehyung's heart was screaming silent cries while his tongue slipped those words.

"What happened, aren't you happy?" Jimin asked after catching his friend discomforted.

"No, I'm so happy."

"I'm so happy about you two, Jimin-ah. I'm sure you'll be the perfect match for her and you will always keep her happy."

"Excuse me, I've to use the bathroom," Taehyung couldn't take it anymore so he walked out, leaving puzzled Jimin behind as fresh tears now streamed down his cheeks.

On one side, there was a spark of new, pristine love while on the other, there was the end of someone's life-longed love. How ironical, isn't it?

Love is like a rose, beautiful and fascinating, but every rose has its thorn.
