Dear Rose,
Daniel. That was his name. A name so bland, how could I forget.
Our usual intricate conversations at the cafeteria had been intoxicated by that of the name of: Daniel Stowe.
Supposedly, he was a new student out of town from some big city. But you know what they say, after all.
With a big city, comes a big ego.
Or maybe I was just pessimistic like that.
I never really knew who this "Daniel" character was, and I really didn't care. That is until you brought him to our table one day.
"Mei, guess who I brought!" You said excitedly, bringing a broad shouldered tower, with tumbleweed colored hair.
I looked up from the illuminated screen of my smartphone to find green pearls casting down at me. A firm hand approached.
"Hi, I'm Da-"
"Daniel, yeah I know."
The corner of his lip turned upward in a playful smirk, although brief.
"It seems I've already been introduced."
His voice was crisp as he spoke, pleasant to the ears, I'd give you that. Thick and creamy, resembling the smooth combination of milk and honey, Daniel had a calming yet exotic accent as well. Australia, maybe?
But oh how you have changed, Rose. You never once used to talk about boys, much less anyone in that manner, with admiration before. I remember how you said they were "despicable and incapable of integrity" and yet you never thought twice when it came to Daniel.
Soon enough you guys started dating. It was obvious you both felt something for each other. Although I didn't understand it, no matter how hard I tried to.
His arm was always around you, and you were unknowingly always stuck like glue to him.
It was a puzzle sequence that seemed to have no room for me.
Your daily routine went from home, to school, to Daniel. It became fixed just like that. The two of you drowning together in playful love. It made me cringe.
But don't mind my distaste. I just love seeing you smile regardless, even if it was for pointless actions.
all the love and disgust -
mei
