we are each other's past present and future

THE PAST
i knew you'd be it for me, i wanted you to be my ending

The story of Jungkook and Serenity came to life again because of one person and that was Kim Taehyung.

His bus plan was a success.

So after Jungkook and Serenity listened to music on the bus ride, just like they did when they were younger. The only thing that had changed was the fact that their feelings had cultivated stronger.

Serenity invited Jungkook back to her house, not sure how things were going to go between them. The last time she saw him, he was jumping on a bouncy castle with his hands in the air as the kids screamed at him to let them play.

There was so much for them to talk about yet the silence was needed. It helped to gather their thoughts, the surprise of seeing each other so adoringly.

The evening they spent together was astonishing. The fireplace offered solace and warmth as they sat in front of it, keeping their distance as their notions, sensations and words hung in the air that never had a glimpse of tension. Gentle words hidden with I miss you's, catch ups on what their future gifted them hidden with, I wish we came back to each other earlier. Their socks against the carpet, their hands clutched in their laps, their eyes remained fixated on each other's facial expressions, taking in every small action, word including the nervous bite of lips, the laughter and the silence that followed. Serenity remembers exactly what it felt to look away from the amber glow of the fireplace into Jungkook's chocolate filled eyes, feeling at home once more.

Unfortunately time exists, sliding it's hands around the clock and it was three thirty am when Jungkook left with a sigh. The two didn't expect to talk for such a long time, ignoring the yawns and worn out smiles, they continued to delve in each other's space because it was one they had missed.

Serenity was slightly agitated when she dropped him to the front door of her house. "Will you get home okay?" She asked as he stood in front of her.

The way he looked in that moment nearly brought tears to her eyes. His enchanting frame almost as tall as the door, hands tucked into the pockets of his denim jacket as a sheepish smile played on his lips. The dire blanket of stars behind him couldn't compare to the way his eyes look. Swirls of auburn that held unexplainable feelings, she could read what he was feeling and it made Serenity more sentimental when she realised Jungkook had always been himself with her. He's never wore a mask, hid his faithful feelings and has always shown her his vulnerable, open and sensitive state.

Happy. Fresh. Warm. Longing.

The boy rubbed his eyes, the bracelets on his wrist showing as his jacket stretched. She hoped his layers of clothing, jacket, flannel and sweatshirt helped to keep him warm in the cold of the night. "Would it be too much if i kissed you?"

His words hung loosely in the air. Stay, Serenity wanted to say but she forced her mind to speak. She knew that Jungkook felt jittery, he felt as though he was asking for too much and that his simple ask would ruin their entire night.

But it wouldn't so she said I don't mind with a laugh as she waited.

Serenity expected a kiss on the lips but the kiss gifted from her past lover was one on the forehead. Short, sweet, filled with stardust as his lips lingered there. She felt her eyes close and he stepped away, taking the warmth with him as he started to walk away to a fancy car.

Serenity couldn't help but laugh until her stomach hurt when she saw the driver of the car. Taehyung. His fingers made a finger heart for her as he drove off with Jungkook who was still smiling.

Serenity stayed outside for a little longer after that. She remembered a time in which she was alone, at the same house she sits in front of. How she talked to the stars as they stayed for her. She remembers her words, I wonder where Jungkook is, I hope life is treating him well. I miss him so much, do you think we'll meet again soon? And that was a week before she sent the letters... what excellence.

Jungkook and Serenity eventually got back together. After long dates, more time spent together in which their love had returned... or did it ever leave?

The couple got married, a few years after they had found their way back to each other.

But who proposed?

Yes, Serenity.

Jungkook was afraid to propose. The idea had crossed his mind several times but the anxiety and fright had creeped into his bones every time he thought about bending down on one knee for the love of his life. He didn't want to jinx it since he once planned to ask her to be his girlfriend, and she left the same day with tears.

Serenity remembers that part of the letter breaking her.

She started to plan her proposal to Jungkook, wanting it to be humble and elegant with hints of originality and cups of her everlasting affection.

Serenity didn't want it to be cliche.

But Taehyung did.

He was ready to buy plane tickets to Paris for his best friends, with a wallet in his hand, a beret on his head and a boxy smile playing on his teasing lips.

The day Serenity prepared for with nervous headaches, sweaty palms and sloppy thoughts had arrived. There was no fantastic scenery of the eiffel tower, no whim beverages, no bubbling champagne, no ironed suits and fancy dinners, no violinist playing in the serene background and definitely no Taehyung clapping his hands together as he squealed in the corner. But she hoped, her proposing on their small apartment balcony, after finishing their evening meal, cuddling into each other with their love was enough to make it a memorable moment.

The day everything went wrong for the poor female character. She spilt tea down her dress in the morning, Jungkook was sick with a cold, sore throat and scrunched up tissues around him, a client of hers had complained about her, claiming she was the worst and most useless therapist he had ever come across, her car broke down on her way home, she saw Jin crossing the road and ran away from him and she broke down in tears when coming home. She hadn't cried in so long so everything had built up, a healthy cry was needed for Serenity. The only thing that made her get back up and motivated her was seeing the small, velvet box holding a precious ring.

However, Serenity surely did it.

She got down on one knee, looked up at the sick boy she had fallen for as he abruptly stood up, shoving the blanket off his legs as they stood on their balcony.

Tears formed in his wide eyes, muttering words that didn't make sense as his mouth stayed open. The sight of his girlfriend on one knee, shaking slightly, behind a blanket of stars startled him.

Serenity couldn't stop the tears that had formed upon seeing Jungkook crying at the sight of her. She didn't want to cry, she wanted to hold a brave face so she smiled and breathed in deeply.

"I know fate is sending me a sign to not propose to you, to not do this because gosh, today was horrible." She let out a timid laugh, still on her knee. "But i've had enough of fate deciding to do what it thinks is right for me. Like no, fuck you, let me control my life but anyway-"

Jungkook took her hands in his, making her stand up as he kissed her.

And the rest is history, Jungkook crying softly whilst watching Serenity walk down the alter, Jimin beside him as he patted his shoulder, throwing cake into Hoseok's face who had warned Jungkook the day before the wedding by saying, "make sure you're the right one for her.", adopting Ceyla, two years later their second daughter was brought into their lives- Sarah, and Serenity and Jungkook finally being gifted a happy ever after.
