Late in the evening it seemed as though Charlie and Nancy were awake. Tonks had gone to bed because she had work the next day but she nonetheless stayed up later than she had planned too. She hadn't seen her best friend in years and wanted to spend all of the time she could with her. Even though neither she or Charlie spoke it aloud they both thought the same thing; they didn't want to waste any time with her just in case she leaves again.
Nancy and Charlie were sat on the sofa in the drawing room in silence. They just sat watching each other not saying a word for a while as the whole house slept.
"Are you sure I'm not imposing?" Asked Nancy after a while.
At the sound of her voice, Charlie snapped from his daydream, "of course you aren't, Nance, my family and Tonks are thrilled to see you and even though you do not know any of the others very well, they like you. Don't ever feel like you're imposing because you're not."
She let out a sigh of relief and tucked her hair behind her ears. "This may sound odd but can I have a cuddle?"
"Since when do either of us ask the other for a cuddle? We never used to. So why start now? Come 'ere!" He exclaimed opening his arms.
Nancy crawled across the sofa to Charlie and he listed her into his lap, wrapping her up in his arms and resting her head on hers which lay on his chest. Nancy held him tightly, she had longed for a cuddle on the sofa like they used to do nigh-on everyday in school. And Charlie was right. They never asked each other, they just snuggled up with each other. She was glad that this didn't change in time like they did physically.
"Promise me you're not going to disappear again. I don't think I will be able to cope if you do." Charlie crumbled, clenching his eyes shut to with hold tears.
Nancy's heartbeat quickened. "I don't think I can, Charlie. I wish I could but I honestly do not know what life will bring me. I could be dead tomorrow."
"Don't say that. Don't ever say that Nancy." He shook his head. "You're not going to die anytime soon."
"You don't know that. With everything that's going on anyone can die at anytime. I hope I don't go anywhere Charlie, I really do, I've just got the people I care most about back and to be perfectly honest I don't want to lose you all again. Especially at a time like this but I have no idea what I am going to do. I don't have a job, I'm back living with my parents. It's like I'm a child again."
Charlie pulled back so that he could see her. "Then I will help you get a job, we are looking for extra wardens at the sanctuary. You don't have to get a place to yourself, you could live with me, I have plenty of room."
Nancy bit her lip, "but my parents..."
"Do what you want to do, Nancy, stay in England if you want, come to Romania if you want it's your decision. I won't try to push you t do anything. As long as I still have you in my life that's all I care about."
Nancy smiled, "thank you, petals."
Charlie rolled his eyes, "seriously?!"
"You chose to wear that flower crown in fifth year!"
Charlie smirked, "and I rocked it!"
"That you did."
The two continued to reminisce on old times for an hour or so until Nancy involuntarily let out a yawn. "Uh oh, someone's tired. Let's head on up to bed."
"No, no, it's okay. It was a little yawn."
Charlie shook his head, "nope, it's our bed time. Now they were not prepared for your lovely presence so you're in with me tonight. Just like old times, unless you have a boyfriend that I should be worried about and if so I'll sleep on the floor."
Nancy rolled her eyes and stood up pulling Charlie with him. "No boyfriend. Not since I dated Dane Mclaggen," she shuddered at the thought of the blonde boy she dated for over a year back in fourth and fifth year. "I haven't given a relationship a thought since," she lied. Of course she had. She likes Charlie- no. She loves Charlie.
As Nancy walked up the stairs in front of Charlie he couldn't keep a smile off of his face, she is single. The two crept into the bedroom being careful not to wake Tonks who slept in the bed by the window.
"Are you still a leftie?" Charlie Asked Nancy as she collected some pyjamas from her bag. She nodded. "So if I sleep closest to the wall we can cuddle, I still sleep on my right. So it fits. You on your left and me on my right."
Nancy whispered, "sure." She quickly stripped and put on her pyjamas not caring that Charlie was stood staring at her in shock. "What? It's nothing you haven't seen before. In fact you have probably seen more when the three of us along with Bucky, Ned and Pepper snuck into the prefects bathroom in sixth year."
Charlie blushed, "I just didn't expect you to drop nearly everything there and then!" He hissed. "And how the hell did you get that scar on your hip?!"
Nancy subconsciously placed her hand over her hip. "Where I first lived, after the first three weeks, I realised that it was big on gang culture after I got stabbed. Then I moved and got my job and didn't leave there until I came back."
Charlie moves towards her and raised her shirt slightly, his fingers brushing over the scar making he shiver. "Why you?"
"It wasn't just me. Three of us, two other women got stabbed in the same town centre on the same day. It was a planned attack on any women they saw vulnerable. We were all 18 or 19."
Charlie shook his head and kissed his fingers pressing the gently against her hip. He changed quickly and laid down, bringing her to lay down next to him. Charlie held onto Nancy and buried his head into the crook of her neck.
"I'm okay, Charlie, it was years ago." Nancy told him quietly.
"I don't care. I don't want you hurt."
"I'm not hurt."
"But you were."
"And now I'm with you and Tonks again, and my parents. I'm not hurting anymore."
