Aurora adored her professors, the classes, the classwork. Never before had she been so fitting into this area that it felt...Sort of nice, especially when she had try-outs to prepare for on that Wednesday. Although it was before dinner, it was no doubt the perfect time. She had been worried in coming to the field with Alchemy on the brain. It never was good for them to coexists near one another.
"I did enjoy that book you gave to me Aurora, it was a pleasure read last night." Aurora giggled, it was nice that Severus would be in this class with her. And it was even better to sit down and validate a proper conversation, to not have to slow down or be interrupted by Lily on something clearly off topic and not about potions.
"Tell me you didn't spoil it all in one night." Severus scoffed, the girl was quite the catch. And didn't derate him on any sort of state. Almost like Lily in that sort of way, and it was charming never the less.
"We all don't have the prowess in touching a book and absorbing the information." Aurora put on her glasses once more and scrunched up.
"Do recall that I'm blind without these lovelies." She spoke, only making it more than easier to find her weakness. He didn't doubt she could handle herself well without them, but when the time comes he needed a backup plan for that course.
Severus was a boy who liked to plan things accordingly, he knew the maunders would come sooner or later. They were just distracted with the night they were going to have under the whomping willow. He knew Lily told him to leave well enough alone, but since Aurora is living in the same house and surely enough will eventually come to greet Mr.Lupin eventually, he thought there was no harm in telling her...In the near future.
As of now, he was quite perceptive that she needed to focus on a few more things. Rather than a werewolf in her house.
"Ah good day class good day, now then...I would like to introduce a new student in our mist. Ms.Halliwell, her father was a very beloved Alchemist in his time. So please, make sure she feels welcomes." Aurora politely smiled, but it dawned on Severus that she was orphaned.
"Don't listen to the blood walrus, he's about as considerate as a pineapple." Aurora held her hand over her mouth, trying her best not to throw her head back and cackle. This was the side of Severus that Lily didn't necessarily approve of, the morbid side. "And his parties?"
"A bore, no doubt going to be collecting you by the end of the month." Aurora hummed as she continued writing whatever nonsense and symbols that layered the bored.
Her handwriting was spectacular, not thin and hidden like his own. He was defiantly going to enjoy this class now that he had a partner and wasn't alone.
However, a Hufflepuff in their year. Clementine, found her way up to Aurora as they were packing. "Hello, my name is Clementine...But everyone calls me Clem. We have charms together actually, I just wanted to say I think your glasses are very adorable." Aurora smiled to the blond Hufflepuff and nodded.
"Thank you, I do like how you fashioned that braid, witch weekly?" Severus was surprised at how similar the girl actually was to Lily. About anyone could come up and start a conversation, however the second the girl walked off to her common room. Aurora let out a huff.
"Merlin if I kept smiling I think it would've stayed forever." Severus held back his own laughter, knowing full well that it was now lunchtime. He promised ether the girls that he'd help Aurora track through the maze, but he allowed her to lead in hopes it would help with her sense of direction and where to go.
"Huffelpuffs are easy to intimidate, Merlin I can look at one and they'll tremble in fear." Aurora couldn't understand how houses were more traits rather than career paths, it was odd indeed but it was never the less investing.
When Aurora plopped down beside Alice, the girl flinched.
"Merlin, Wells you scared me." The girl breathed, and Aurora smirked down to her small group and allowed her satchel to fall on the floor while her glasses found their way up. "How was Alchemy?"
"Brilliant, it was a change from my previous professor." It was too easy for Mary to change the conversation as no one knew how to follow up with a conversation on bloody alchemy.
So instead it was mindless chatter before Professor McGonagall came and asked for her to her office. It was a nice change of setting, of course, tea and cookies from the kitchen. But this was more of a formality for the team than anything.
"I suspect by now you've met the other chasers?" Aurora rolled her eyes at the mere mention.
"Yes, they're quiet entertaining...I'll leave it to the day before telling them. I like surprises." Minvera's usual thin lips greeted her with a widening smile.
It was then a tail of best matches and both of them were at the mercy of a countdown. While the Transfiguration professor was already in the mindset of ordering the girl a fitted uniform.
However, on the other side of the tower, Remus was dealing with cold sweats. Probably on the mist of his body and wolf knowing that Rory was in the proximity. Perhaps the werewolf himself was intrigued by the gal who was attracted enough to do what she did.
Merlin does he wish they went farther. That he could have lavished her, he'd catch himself daydreaming at what he'd do, what he wanted to do.
It was unhealthy even he knew that, but it gave him comfort or something else. Unattached.
He never thought once it was wrong to get attached to a muggle. His father had done it, and they seemed more than happy with one another. So when he came down to the all too familiar moldy smell of the shrieking shack, he let out a sigh.
"Oh come now Moony, get to sleep both Saturday and Sunday!" Sirius offered out, Remus knew of the two's plan of finding a girl for him to be interested in, and it'll be the same outcome as last year. He was sure of it.
His mental discussion was screaming for him to stay completely out of it.
Throughout the night it was sort of...Strange, neither of the lot of them knew if they should let Moony out of the shack due to his odd stance. It was thought he wanted to get into Hogwarts, and it was a massive struggle. The lot managed to get him into the forbidden forest and it was enough to distract and easier throughout the entire night.
Sirius was the first up, struggling to get to his own clothes as it was definitely a rough night. Although it wasn't hostile, it was still a wicked reminder of what two months away did to Moony. Perhaps it was the return to their home, the pack...Whatever it was...
In this moment of thought, Sirius continued towards his beaten mate and tried his best to dress him without pain.
Even if it wasn't a rough night, it was either extreme or terrible. Never a normal night, for Remus' attitude to Moony's, and Moony's attitude to Remus was never the less strong-willed and ruthless.
It's hard to image, to picture the transformation to a wild animal.
A dark creature, as a depressed Remus would label himself to be.
**
Lily was sort of peeved that Remus wasn't at Saturday or Sunday breakfast, lunch or dinner. She was right in predicting that his illness was coming soon. And although Aurora didn't seem to mind in not meeting new people, it struck Lily as a sort of break.
Of course Halliwell was kind, but it was a little overbearing having to remember new people, map out Hogwarts and relay a whole years worth of information that is not following her provided syllabus from Ilvermorny.
For the most part she was caught up, however in some areas it took a moment or two of understanding before managing it fully.
As much as Lily found Aurora to be a doll, there were a few things she did not fathom oh too well. For one, her swearing, although it tickled Mr.Black, Lily could only predict how far it'll go in winning the boys affection.
The obsessive reading she seems to do. Although Quidditch hasn't started just yet, it didn't matter as most of every time could she be found planted in the windowsill of the Gryffindor common room. An excellent choice as Alice pointed out, but most knew that she charmed it to fit a person. Not that anybody seemed to mind, and their head of house seemed oblivious.
Speaking of which, Aurora didn't tell a single soul that her godmother and father were headmaster and deputy headmistresses of the school before them. It'll only be a matter of time before it comes obvious but as of right now, Aurora liked to keep her secrets...Secret.
Lily still wondered what happened over the summer with the mystery boy in the club. To the muggle-born witch it sounded so utterly cheesy to happen to a pureblooded witch that it was manic to even believe it to be true.
However it was, Aurora had the drink spill on her shirt to prove it.
The last thing that Lily wasn't so fond of, was the letters her and Jacob. It wasn't love letters, and Mary did not allow Lily to read it. Claiming that 'Lily is a pure flower and shouldn't reading erotic novels,' so it set the mood for what the two were writing about.
Obviously, Aurora wasn't exactly a pure flower with the way she flaunted herself at the nightclub, even engaging of this sort of communication was scandalous in her eyes.
"Merlin sake Aurora, what were up to in America?" Aurora Kindly smiled and put her glasses down. "Whatever could you mean my lovely Alice, I was mistakenly perfect!" She giggles, making the entire rest of the girls laugh alongside them.
Peter couldn't pinpoint where on earth he had seen her before, or heard of her before. Even digressing in this information with James, it was better than Remus who was still a bit stricken with sore limbs. But as of right now, he was feeling his friends hype of a new sports season.
"Well, I need some luck today Mary, look...Perfect." Mary giggled, but anytime Lily tried to get her hands on the letter it would fail to be seen. Jacob was thorough, a smart wizard who had promises of being a fine healer.
The invisible ink only would allow Aurora to read it, but her holding it out to a friend was caution enough to it being legible. Since lunch was the only thing in the middle of break and tryouts, the new girl seemingly wanted to relax. To get dressed and clean her broom before coming out of a sudden retirement.
Of course, whether or not she was on Minvera's team or not didn't matter. But it was all too easy to feel the proud gleam of hope radiating off her godmother as she was damn near excited to see her little goddaughter racing up into the air.
With that being said, Aurora found herself out near Hagrid's hut as the girls all wanted to see the try-outs in action. "I just want you to wipe that bloody smirk off of Potter's face for me, please?" It was one of these times that Lily Evan's could be the pinnacle of a monster, how angry she could easily get.
Or how worked up the boy with glasses could make her.
━━━━━▼━━━━━
"No worries darling, this'll be enjoyable." She cheered, heading off with her friends towards the pitch. Of course the first years wanted to get a glimpse of the players and their team before the first game so it wasn't odd for a crowd, but when James' eyes targeted Lily's hair...His heart began to palpate all too heavily.
"Oi mate, Mary probably bugged her to come and watch..." Sirius smirked, waving to the muggle-born witch as well. But then Aurora had so easily placed her elbow onto James Potter's shoulder.
"I suppose you're right Black, but Lily's here for me." She smiled politely, when Aurora removed her elbow off the boy's shoulder ether of them looked to her in complete question.
"Er...Wells, you know this is—"
"Tryouts, for Quidditch, as in our houses team?" Aurora closed her eyes and huffed out.
"Merlin you two are draft aren't you?... I know what this is, Professor McGonagall demanded that I be on the team." She issued, it's true she wanted to play and that the whole bit about the professor was a lie. But it did spark interest in Sirius.
"What did you play over in the states love, must be different across the pond." The prior knowledge all these years was oh so easy.
"Chaser." She smiled, and Sirius knew in the instant that she held all the reigns at the moment.
She knew their workings, their insides and outs. He did not like that endearment one single bit, her vast years of knowledge to their settled taunts would not be won over by the likes of her.
Yet to his future surprise, that was all going to change.
"McGonagall tell you that our last one graduated last year?" Aurora hummed, soon focusing her attention on the current team captain as it was too easy to follow
Instead, the given people were positioned in groups as to which position they wanted to pose for. Aurora found herself too close to comfort with the given glances each and every few seconds.
As the given continents went about, the team captain kept both Sirius and James as chasers due to the fact that they defiantly being kept on the team. Now it was Aurora's turn as she managed to steady a pace right beside Sirius.
"Oi! Good luck darling. But this is more of mates' position." She connected two fingers together and saluted off into their direction as she took the ball all too easily for the opposing team and hindered their taunts as she made them eat her dusk.
"Oi, newbie!" She threw it off towards Sirius as she had been instructed, and the battled it between the two but allowed her to make the throw. Something in her knew that her professor was watching and so when the keeper had blocked the immediately play. She pushed forward, making both the chasers behind them flinch.
━━━━━▼━━━━━
They thought she messed up the play.
However, they were both jaw-droppingly shocked when she pushed up off her broomstick and lingered in the air long enough to throw a curve ball into the corner of the ring.
The keeper, who was all too questionable if she needed help just watched as she sat in between the rings and summoned her broom close enough to drop down onto and continue back to the ground level.
All the try-out contestants came forward, rushing to give their applause. More so James and Sirius as they had witnessed it through their own plays. "That was bloody wicked! How you landed it, I surely thought you messed it up!" Sirius honestly exclaimed while James just patted the girl on the shoulder.
Okay so perhaps Potter had a bit of a problem remembering that Aurora was indeed a girl. But she reached for her mask and took it off, letting hand in between her fingers as she looked up to both of the smelly boys and smiled politely.
"That was a nice throw from you Black..." She offered out, all of them were sharing the out of breath trait. But James was surely offended without any sort of given compliment. Which he pouted up and voiced on it.
"Not allowed to give a compliment Potter, gotta earn it." Was all she said, and that did get a nick from Sirius off beside him as she was off to get a sip of water before the announcements for the team were made.
It was obvious that she was going to be the third, although it just so happens that the male that had gone prior to her performance was in the lead for the position. He turned sour until he was chosen for beater.
But it was an added bonus for their head of house to make her way up to the field, and more importantly to Aurora. The smile on the young girl's face wasn't easily copied, but Minerva pulled all the stops to try and replicate. Ether witch showed their own enthusiasm in their own way, but something was definitely off as Sirius had thought earlier, he just couldn't tell what.
"Mr.Potter, Mr.Black...I hope you find your new Chaser not to be a target in any sort of...Games you play outside the pitch." She dictated, and Aurora smirked. The attention was more so to the flirt than the boy in the glasses, making it much more pure of a catch.
"Oh of course professor, would do anything for our fellow teammate." He so passionately provided and Aurora huffed.
"I'm pretty sure our professor meant that you'd stick to being gentlemen and not...Whatever you are." She allowed her hand to wave, and Mr.Black wished entirely that McGonagall would have his back, her hand connected to the young girls instead.
"Perhaps not in those words, yes, your Uncle sends his best...You three better wash up before dinner, we won't have our team looking like baboons." A steady confirming nod from all of them. But Aurora broke off for a moment to see Lily fling herself into her arms.
"Merlin Lilypad, at least wait until a game!" The boys heard the new girl cheer before being escorted by the crowd.
"L-lilypad?" James questioned and Sirius scoffed into the air. "You missed a few names, Wells got you covered on creativity mate." It was James' turn to scoff now as he nicked his best mate.
"Oi, who almost messed up her play then?" He taunted, and it was a back and forth raid.
The entire team was now posted outside the wall, and Remus excused himself from meeting the new girl once again. Knowing his friends would want to share the spotlight in annoying the living daylight out of the poor girl, however...He was left in awe that Lily agreed to study with him in Potions while Aurora had to assemble a group of Alchemists for the class on Friday.
With that being said, Lily smirked. Aurora needed to get over Jacob and this unhealthy writing habit of hers, and Remus needed himself a girlfriend. And thus, a smirk grew on her face that would have Mr. James Potter fall to his knees.
"I'm sure you'll like Aurora, she's really busy...She was supposed to join us." Remus popped his head up for a moment and looked back over the array of colors that made up the Alchemists of their grade.
"She has enough to worry about at the moment, I heard she made the team?" He questioned, oh he heard alright. His roommates were living each and every play as though it was their last breath and they needed to relay it once more.
"She was brilliant off in the states, personally I think McGonagall already adores her...Have you seen her in class, I swear she defiantly saw the notes we were passing." Now that intrigued the opposing Prefect as he tilted his head in question.
"Passing notes in class, I'm shocked Ms.Evans...Surely Ms.Halliwell can't be all to blame." It was perfect for Lily now, he was going to be at her mercy.
"Oh nonono, I mean...We have so much to catch up on, letters never did us any justice and I just...It's beautiful to have her as a roommate and not have to wait two days for a reply." He could obviously see the beauty that Lily was experiencing and he huffed out impatiently.
"Unfortunately for her, she's caught Sirius' eye." Lily scowled pulled her hand into a fist.
"I felt it coming, but really though. Aurora isn't his type." Now Remus was starting to get an understanding, he's seen her...Or well he's seen a glimpse of her reading and studying in the common room or even now in the library. He found it very strange to see her glasses going from her face, to the top of her head to the table.
All in one subject.
"Out of the bunch, she likes you the best." Now he truly didn't know what to think of it. Whatever exactly had she told Aurora of himself? That he was a prefect who couldn't manage his friends?
Merlin help him now.
"That doesn't sound too promising." He mustered, returning back, but Lily caught him before he could even begin to read his revisions.
"Of course it's promising! I told her you're more of the agile one, you know...Not the troublemaker. That you spend your time reading and studying." Remus rose a brow, although that is what Aurora was doing now, and has been caught doing everywhere else. At least she had other activities to match up with, he had nothing.
"Brilliant, I'm the boring one of the group them?" He questioned and Lily groaned in frustration.
"Christ Remus of course not! I'm just saying that Aurora and you would defiantly do some good, she's brilliant at Potions." Remus thought for a moment that it would be nice to have someone else to question in this area.
Although she stays silent in class, or in this case passing notes as he so thoroughly found out. It wasn't that a bookworm sounded bad in his eyes, he just didn't know why he wanted to impress the new girl.
"Let's see, about a few years of stories and information and you leave me as the bookworm what cannot make a potion to save his life...I'm joking Lily, I don't mind...But I will remind you that I did beat your score in DADA." The redhead scowled, oh it was a sure four points. But it was enough to last the entire summer with a sort of elevated—Oh who was he kidding, even with that win Rory still plagued his mind.
"I didn't mean to offend, honestly. She said very good things about you too."
"She doesn't know me Lily, and frankly she should ease into containing Sirius before I'm introduced." He issued, and he prayed that that was the last of it.
"She's really pretty..." Lily spoke up once again, and realized what this was about. Frowning and dropping his quill in response did he shake off the feeling that either of his mates put Lily up to this. James can't even get a foot near her while Sirius and her have always been slightly enemies.
Perhaps Peter, but he really didn't think his friend was all that mindful.
"Lily I am not looking for a girlfriend..." He carefully spelled out, but that's when Lily pouted.
"But she's perfect! She can help you in potions and...And you said you live on a Hippogriff farm, she does too!" It seemed the girl was pulling things out of stoppers, she defiantly had this planned out.
"Now you sound like Sirius...I am not treading into dangerous waters when he has her eyes on her." Lily groaned a disagreement. "Sirius isn't her type."
"And I am?" Lily rose a brow, seemingly having that enough to answer the question.
"Look, we have OWLS this year, she needs to settle in. Being suddenly taken is not how she'll want to go her first year here...Besides, you promised to help me with potions, not finding a gal." He reminded and it was then that it was truly the end.
However, it gave him a nice change of thoughts. Wells and Rory.
