The Wall
Most days, praying and worship come with such ease, that they just flow from me, but sometimes it doesn't. Then, I just can't find the words to say or establish the connection between me and the Holy Spirit with such ease. But He is still there, and God still listens. I push against this because God tells us to pray ceaselessly, yet I am easily distracted from my prayers on those days, and it makes me feel guilty. And guilt is a device of darkness. It robs us of our joy in Christ Jesus, and it stops us from being thankful.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
So, my advice? Pray, even if you just end up reciting the Lord's Prayer over and over or some familiar prayer verse that comforts you and focuses you on God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Even if you just lean into the presence of the Holy Spirit and quietly sit there when you don't know what to say, the Holy Spirit will say it for you.
Romans 8:26
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.
