I'm melting

It was hot. Not warm, hot. A blistering heat that bashed innocent people as they went about their daily business.

Two rather sweaty men raced each other through the car park, towels in hand and laughing as the slight cooling breeze embraced their bodies.

Stones turned to sand beneath their feet, laughter turned to shrieks of delight and surprise at the sudden change.

Children and dogs bounded alongside them, revelling in the sun, warmth and enjoyment of being young and free.

Exhausted yet feeling like he could fly, Awsten stopped in his tracks and flopped to the sandy floor. Geoff stopped too but took the smart choice of laying his towel down first before collapsing.

Awsten saw that Geoff was comfier and in a better position than he was, so he took it upon himself to make it better by rolling over and squishing him.

"Oof. Awsten you're so fucking heavy, get off!" Geoff grunted, unsuccessfully attempting to free himself.

"Language Geoff! There's small children and innocent ears present."

Geoff rolled his eyes and lifted his head, taking an exaggerated look around. "There's no small children here, no innocent ears so fuck off."

"I was talking about me," Awsten huffed, "but I guess you don't care."

"Correct, I don't. Goodbye." Gathering all of his strength, Geoff wriggled away from underneath him. "Geoff please." Awsten whined, dragging out the vowels.

"What do you want? I'm going to cool down. Houston's too fucking hot man." Geoff called back to Awsten who was rolling around on the floor. A mother nearby looked at Geoff dissaprovingly.

"Excuse me, please could you not use that vile language around these children! They are young and impressionable." She said haughtily. Geoff shrugged and looked at the four closest children.

Sure they were within earshot but they were all too wrapped in their own imagination and sand castles to be paying any attention. He wasn't causing any harm.

Awsten looked up from the ground and saw a woman looking pissed off and Geoff looking defensive.

After realising that Geoff was in a situation he would rather not be in, Awsten decided to help him out.

Standing up and running over, Awsten leapt onto his back urging Geoff forwards and away from the kids. He didn't detach himself until they were in the water, kicking and splashing like they were children again.

"Thanks for that Aws." Geoff said with a laugh. "It's ok Gee, I will never let you down. What did she want anyway?"

They both sank down and swam along side each other, careful not to swallow a mouthful of water.

"She told me that my language was disturbing some nearby children that weren't even listening." The brunette responded. "What, were you speaking French?" Awsten joked. Geoff smiled and shook his head.

"Do you wanna play a game?" Awsten lowered his voice.

"Not if you sound like that."

"Like what?"

"Like you're about to fucking murder me." Geoff said.

Awsten snorted. "I wouldn't murder you here, too many witnesses. I'd get you to swim further out and you would 'accidentally' drown and it would be such a tragedy. No one would know either. It would be the unsolved case of Geoffrey Wigington, accidental drowning."

"And on that note I'm leaving." Geoff mumbled, hurriedly heading back to shore.

"Where are you going?" Awsten asked, struggling to keep up. "Away from you!"

"Rude!"

"Oh fuck off." Geoff laughed. Water became sand and Geoff stumbled whilst standing up. Two steps later and the same small boy had leapt onto his back once more except this time they were both drenched.

The impact knocked Geoff off his feet. Awsten wasn't heavy by any means it was the shock and surprise that sent the two tumbling.

The brunette groaned and rolled around on the ground again. Although there was one difference. Both men were covered in sea water and, now, covered in sand.

Gritty and damp Geoff sat up with a grimace. "Ew, ew, ew it's sticking to me! Geoff get it off!" Awsten squealed.

Geoff looked over at the blue boy and sighed. "Hell no, you decided to push us over so you suffer too."

Annoyed and salty, Geoff trudged back up the beach to where their towels were. It was a suprise no one had stolen them, they weren't protected at all.

He was aware of Awsten trailing miserably after him, brushing his arms and legs in a vain attempt to get rid of the grains.

"That won't work. Here take this," Geoff passed him his towel, "this will work."

"How do you know?"

"Because I'm older and smarter now shut up and brush off the sand."

"Nope, I have a better idea." Awsten decided. He discarded his towel and ran off. The brunette honestly couldn't care less so he focused solely on himself.

Ten or so minutes later a pleased, yet sopping wet, Awsten came back, water dripping off his hair and nose. "See all gone! I just washed off in the sea."

"Awsten what the fuck! Now you're gonna make it worse. Just take the towel and dry off. You'll get cold too." Geoff instructed. Awsten grumbled but reluctantly took the towel, rubbing it over his body.

"I don't understand how I'll get cold though. It's really fucking warm." The blue boy resorted to fanning himself to try and cool down.

"Stop being a spork and follow me. We'll go back to the car, cool down and go see Otto. Sound like a plan?"

Awsten shrugged. "Sure whatever just get me away from the seagulls."

"What's wrong with them? They're just birds."

"They're fucking evil Gee!"

"Pussy." Geoff muttered loud enough for Awsten to hear.

"Language young man." Awsten said in mock horror. "Hypocrite! And I'm older than you so your argument is invalid."

"Your face is invalid."

-

"Ugh can it get any hotter?" Grace complained, leaning against the counter and sweating profusely.

"Hell yeah it can 'cause I'm here baby!" Awsten announced as he entered the shop. Grace rolled her eyes playfully and turned around to greet him.

Otto seemed to lack the strength to lift his head and wave so he remained face down on the painted wood.

Awsten raised an eyebrow at his friend but shook his head and turned his attention to Grace. Pulling her into a sweaty hug they held on to each other until the blue boy ruined the moment by opening his mouth.

"I always bring the fire, I am fire. Is it just me or is it getting hotter in here?"

"Awsten shut up or I will hit you." Geoff's voice sounded from behind Awsten. Grace sniffed Awsten and frowned. "You smell damp and salty."

"We went swimming." Awsten said. "In the sewer's?" She asked. "We may as well have done. Everyone knows the sea isn't the cleanest place." Geoff chimed in.

Grace looked over Awsten's shoulder and smiled at the brunette. He smiled back and walked over to Otto. "Hey man, you ok?"

Otto gave him a weak thumbs up before dropping his hand back down. "Can I chuck cold water on him? That will cool him down right?" Awsten suggested; Otto magically managed to muster up enough strenth to raise his head and give Awsten a warning glare.

"If you dare I will ban you for a day." He threatened.

"A day? That's nothing!" Awsten scoffed.

"Yeah but bae's too nice and you're his best friend so don't push it. It could be two days." Grace giggled. She leant over the counter to press a quick kiss to Otto's lips.

Otto smiled. He couldn't deny that every kiss, every hug, every smile from Grace brought so much warmth and love to his heart. He would do anything for her. He would die for her.

She momentarily disappeared to the bathroom. Otto slid some paper over to Awsten and placed a plastic object beside it.

"Another one?" Geoff asked exasperated. This guy was really pushing it. Awsten nodded and read the note.

Dear Awsten,

I keep feeling like bursting into song and sending random song lyrics from different songs and mashing them all together in a weird, shitty song remix.

Don't you try to hide with those angel eyes
If you were church I'd get on my knees
This is a rebel love song!
I'm gonna swing from the chandelier!
Today I don't feel like doing anything
Baby, baby, baby ohhhhhhhhh

Ok I lost it a bit, not entirely sure where I was going through that. I hope you didn't cringe too hard at the last one. Oops?

Anyway it's really freaking warm and thought you could do with a little gift, have a good day! You deserve the world.

Moth People xox

Awsten picked up the mini fan and laughed. It would definitely come in handy. "Moth People? What kinda name is that?" Grace appeared behind Awsten and looked over his shoulder.

"Holy shit Grace!" Awsten gasped. "You scared me!"

"Shut up and fan me." He switched on the fan and held it in front of her face. "Oh my God that feels so good Aws!" She sighed, loving the cool breeze dance across her skin.

Not for long.

Awsten nudged her out of the way and positioned himself in front of the fan, eyes closed.

"You enjoying that?" Geoff asked from beside him. Awsten just nodded.

"He's all yours." Geoff said to Otto. Otto looked up and saw Awsten smiling to himself with his eyes closed, a mini fan pointed at his face. His girlfriend stood next to the blueberry boy looking sad and flustered.

"You ok Grace?" He asked. She nodded and gave him a reassuring smile. "I'm actually gonna go get some air." She said.

"Wanna come back to mine?" Geoff offered. "We have ice cream." Grace nodded. "Yeah sure, sounds good right now. Bye bae!"

The blonde shuffled over to kiss Otto goodbye before linking her arm through Geoff's. The two exited the shop leaving Otto alone with Awsten and three other customers sitting silently in their own respective booths.

"This is really small. Do you have a bigger one?" Awsten had given up on the hand held fan.

Otto sighed and rested his chin on his hand.

"I think the freezer's empty, just go sit in there for a while. You normally do."

I'm thinking of starting a new Gawsten, a soul mate AU, what do y'all think?? Xox
