Doris meows in disagreement, following directly behind you.

"I was very polite!" You say defensively, turning around with your hands on your hips.

Meow! Doris sits in front of you, judging you.

"I came here to be independent and get away from all the noise, not make friends or be buddies with the mailman." You untie your (H/C) hair, letting it fall back into place. You tuck a strand behind your ear, glancing back at the door.

Doris places her paw on your leg.
Dammit Doris!

You run to the door, swinging it open.
The mailman was already halfway down the street.

"HEY!" You call out, waving frantically. He jumps, dropping a few letters on the ground. He stands frozen with a bewildered look on his face. He quickly gathers his composure and begins picking up the mail.

You snort, amused by his awkwardness. He runs over, halting in front of you. He stands with his hands on his knees, trying to catch his breathe.
"At....your....service...mam!" He stands up straight, a glint in his eye.

"I'm sorry about earlier, I'm just not a social person. I really do love this city, and if I'm going to stay here, the last thing I need is my neighbors hating me." You play with your hair shyly, staring at the ground.

"Don't even worry about! I'm totally used to weird stuff happening around here." He says gleefully.

You give him a puzzled look.

He laughs nervously, shoving the letters in his hand into his mailbag. He rubs the back of his neck, making eye contact with you for a brief moment. He blushes, and quickly changes the subject. "I don't think I caught your name earlier!"

"It's (Y/N)." You say quietly.

"Wow! (Y/N) is such a prett-NICE! Nice name! It's a nice name!" He laughs nervously, his eyes wide.

You laugh lightly, amused by his awkwardness.

"Well, uh catch you lazy!" He turns around but quickly stops in his tracks. "LATER! I meant later!" He begins to leave again, disappearing down the street.

You head back inside, softly shutting the door behind you. You rest your head against it, sighing with a small smile on your face.

Doris prances past you gleefully, glancing back at you a letting out a small meow.

"Oh hush, Doris!". You slide down to the floor.
