6.
I closed the letter John had written to me, teary eyed. I had re-read it about five times, feeling with each word his presence in front of me, his pink lips whispering those loving words to my ear and sending shivers down my spine. This is why I loved him. But he doens't love you back.
"Awe, this man is going to be the end of me," I murmured to myself.
I grabbed my jacket and my bag, and headed outside. Walking around the city, I eventually found a coffee shop and pushed the door to come inside. The tables were practically cut from each other, and inside there was a home-like aura floating around the place. I took in a deep breath and smiled, something I hadn't done in quite a long time. I walked up to the bartender, a medium sized man with striking grey eyes and whose raven hair fell up to about his shoulders, and asked:
"A café latte please,"
"Right away," He looked up and gave me a half smile.
I turned around to see all the tables were occupied, so I walked towards one where only a young man with chestnut coloured hair and curious black eyes.
"Excuse me, may I sit here?" I motioned to one of the empty seats beside him.
"Oh! Yes, of course!" I put my coffee down.
"So, are you new to London?"
"Yeah, I came here some months ago," I smiled at him. "Oh, are you... waiting for someone? I don't want to intrude," I quickly apologised.
"You're not intruding." He brushed it off. "I'm just waiting on my... boyfriend."
He looked down, as if ashamed, and I could perfectly understand why.
"That's cool!" I smiled, trying to make him more comfortable around me.
"Wait, you don't mind?"
"Not at all,"
"By the way, what's your name?"
"(Y/N) Jefferson, yours?"
"Samuel, Samuel Seabury."
"A pleasure," I smiled again, when a tall, greyish-blue eyed man came in.
He looked around, and his eyes lit up significantly when he saw the man beside me's eyes. He walked discreetely towards us.
"Hey Sam,"
"Hey Geo," Sam answered, his cheeks turning a slight tinge of pink.
"Um... if you don't mind me asking, but who are you?" Samuel's boyfriend asked me.
"I'm (Y/N). You must be Samuel's boyfriend right?"
I noticed his cheeks blushed too as he nodded.
"George,"
"A pleasure."
I smiled as I took out my sketchbook and started drawing, while the couple just chatted. Nevertheless, and to my surprise, I drew a handsome man, bronze coloured curls tied up in a loose ponytail, chestnut coloured eyes- large and inocent, a broad slime and freckled face. No. I couldn't get John out of my head.
~Some months later~
I reopened the large iron box where I kept my stuff and dropped another letter. Then thought again and sat down in front of it, tipping it's contents onto the floor. Hundreds of letters, three completed sketchbooks and a couple of small american flags.
John's P.O.V.
I re-read the letters (Y/N) sent me, one by one, in order... and it broke my heart.
I fell down to my knees and cried like I hadn't done for years, clutching the letters that had kept me alive for about six years now. And I still missed her like the first day. Tears flowed down my hazel eyes like a river. I missed her...
I heard the door being burst open, but I didn't move one inch.
"J-John?" Alexander's voice was laced with surprise.
"Laurens?! Oh, John, are you okay?" I soon felt a couple of arms around me.
"E-Eliza?"
"Shhh. It's fine. Alex and I are here."
I managed to wipe my tears and smirk, even though it was forced. I saw Alexander's jealous eyes stare at me.
"Alex?" I chuckled.
"I...er..." Eliza looked flustered.
"When's the wedding guys?"
Alexander opened his eyes widely and blushed like mad.
"John! Anyway, what happened?"
My smile faded and my eyes began crystalising once again.
"What is it?" Eliza asked softly.
I thought of the chances I had, that were marely none, so I reluctantly handed her the latest letter I had recieved from (Y/N), to then point at the pile of letters that were spread around the corner of my room.
"May I... read it?"
I nodded slightly.
"Can Alex read them too?"
I shrugged.
~Your P.O.V.~
I heard my phone ringing, so I got it.
"Hello?"
"Hi (Y/N), I'm Samuel. From the café, remember?"
Soon you remembered you had given him your phone number.
"Oh! Hey Samuel! What's up?"
"Nothin', just came to tell you Geo-"
His voice was cut by muffled giggles and finally laughter.
"George! Stop!" I heard Seabury's voice in between laughs.
"Oh! Is it (Y/N)? Hey (Y/N)!" I heard George's cheerful voice.
"Hey George!"
"We wanted to ask you if you would come to us to..."
Samuel's voice cut his boyfriend's.
"There's a historical... thing at Hyde's park about America's founding fathers and Christopher Jackson (Sorry not sorry)."
"But wouldn't I be... intruding you guys or something?" I asked.
"Nah," George's slightly high pitched voice cut me off. "We'll meet you there at 5, okay?"
"Okay, and thanks! You both are my first friends in London," I giggled.
"Great! See you there!" Samuel's cheerful voice was the last thing I heard until the line died.
I changed into a turtle necked, black jumper, some light blue jeans and brown boots and left my apartment to meet up with my new friends. Once I reached Hyde park, I looked around and hoped to see my short, chestnut haired and my brunette, blue eyed friend; after a while I finally caught a glimpse of them and paced towards them.
"Hey Sam! George!" I called out, smiling,
"Hi (N/N)!" They greeted. "Ready to go?"
"Sure!"
Soon we were enjoying the fair, with a cotton candy about the size of our head each. George had a small crown, assembling a kings', Sam had one saying: 'Lin Manuel Miranda was a problematic founder' (Bitch fight me) and I had one saying 'Anthony Ramos deserves more love' (Sorry, I love Phillip Hamilton, John Laurens and Anthony Ramos). They reminded me of my friends, especially Anthony Ramos reminded me of...
" 'Ey (Y/N), you okay?" Samuel's voice pulled me out of my mind.
"You kinda zoned out there..." George put an arm on my shoulder.
"J-John..." I muttered.
"What?"
"Who's John?" Sam asked.
"Oh shit! Did I say that out loud?" I shrieked.
Samuel and George looked at each other and smirked momentarily. I started getting flustered by the second.
"So you have a special someone by your side Jefferson?" George asked with a smug grin.
I couldn't help but smile sadly.
"Ha. I wish."
"What do you mean?" Sam asked, noticing the ever so slight crack in my voice.
"I mean I'm in love with a guy I can't call my own."
I let those words escape my lips slightly softer than before. I felt tears form at the rim of my eyes, but I wouldn't let it show. Not in front of them.
"Oh shit..." George muttered. "If we can help you in anything..."
"Your company is more than enough, thanks," I smiled. "I... I think I should g-go home now."
They looked at me with sad eyes, and then pulled me into an embrace.
"If you need us for anything, we'll be here (N/N)" Sam whispered.
"Thanks guys. I really do appreciate it." I whispered.
