Scream

Fields of golden yellow unfold before you
Bask in the glory
Or suffocate under it

Gone are the days
Of innocent joy
Reminiscent echoes of laughter

I'm strained to remember
When I was not an actor
How many muscles did you pay
To force that smile upon your face?

What do you do now
When you hear a familiar dark orchestra
These voices sound so happy
But their words are full of pain

I see a field devoid of color
Grey lines extend halfway to the horizon
To touch a cloudy white sky

Do your fingertips do the same?
When you fall to your knees in desperation
Hoping anyone will hear you

Only when you hop over
Can you truly scream out
All the agony, guilt, humiliation

Only then
Can terror manifest itself over your face clearly
For all the world to see

Once you open your eyes,
You're somewhere else entirely
Wondering if you ever truly screamed
