It was after school as I sat in detention, when suddenly the door opened and Sam walked in. 

" Hey Ryan." she whispered.

" What the hell are you doin here?" I whispered back.

" I didn't want you to spend detention alone." she giggled. 

I rolled my eyes and mentioned for her to sit by me. 

" So how was the day?" she asked.

" It was okay I guess. Tyson Ritter talked to me for some odd reason. He said what I did was ballsy and cool."  I said shrugging.

" Tyson Ritter? Like the speech team genuis  Tyson Ritter?" Sam asked.

" SHHHHH!"  said the librarian. 

I glared at the librarian before nodding at Sam. 

" Oooh that's exciting." she cooed. 

" I mean I guess." I said. 

" Hey Ryan.." she said.

" Yeah?"  I asked.

 " Did you uh.. hear the rumors of us being together?" she laughed awkwardly. 

" You mean there are rumors of us dating?" I asked.

" Yeah. " she said, blushing.  I laughed softly. 

" Well uh.. I guess I'll have to prove those rumors." I said, my bolder side coming out.  I leaned in an tucked a strand of dark hair behind her ear and kissed her cheek.  She turned bright pink and looked away. 

" Um.. sorry. I just.. I was kinda joking." I mumbled. 

" Nah its fine, I liked it." Sam murmured. 

This time it was my turn to blush. 

Soon it was time for us to go home.  We walked out the doors of the school to see Gerard's car parked in the drive. 

" Gerard?" Sam asked, smiling.

" Yeah I'm not really supposed to be driving since I got my car keys taken away, but I persuaded my mom to let me take my car to pick you up."  he explained as we got in. 

" Cool!" I said and got in shotgun. We drove to Gerard's house and Sam and I kept exchanging looks and blushing. Gerard didn't seem to notice, or at least he didn't show it.  Gerard pulled into his driveway and we all got out and went up to his room to do our homework.  But a sudden guilt took over me. Sam likes me.. but I knew for years that Gerard had the biggest crush on Sam.  Jesus.  What the hell was I to do now?
