No More Avoiding (Omega/Alpha AU) Part 4
((Played'Love Like You' on repeat when writing this))
Two weeks had passed, a whole two weeks. Fourteen days of both Keith and Lance avoiding each other completely. Lance's Alpha came back the day after everything happened. Lance was able to reason with it, and Alpha agreed to not interfering anymore as long as Lance stayed away from Keith for a little longer, as Alpha just needed some space from the omega.
Lance gladly agreed, as he also wasn't ready to speak to Keith yet either. But that conversation was five days ago, and Alpha was okay with the presence of Keith now, but Lance still feared talking to him. Every time Lance saw Keith, he walked the other way, and every passing in the hallway he would walk faster. And as time passed as he did this, he would catch a glimpse of Keith's face filling up with pain more and more every time. It made his heart ache in a way he didn't even know it could, as his mind would always fill with the thought of how this was all his fault.
So here Lance was, sitting in the training deck, eating batch of cookies Hunk made him and staring at a wall. He passed Keith this morning the moment he came out of the training deck, and Lance turned around and retreated back around the corner. When he poked his head back down the hallway, he saw Keith walking the opposite direction before disappearing as he turned into another hallway. Lance went into the training deck after that and now he was just staring at the wall, drowning himself in his sorrows and cookies.
Alpha was pulling at his senses, trying to get his attention, but Lance was too focused on the blank wall to notice. Alpha couldn't speak to Lance, unless Lance went to his mind space, so all it could do was pull at Lances senses or growl, but every time Alpha tried growling Lance just ignored him. It gave Alpha no choice but to forcefully pull Lance into the mindscape, praying that it doesn't hurt him.
Just when Lance had tried to grab another cookie, he suddenly felt like he was being sucked into a black hole. Everything around him went black and he couldn't see the wall he'd been staring at anymore. He recognized the place and just sighed as he let his body float around in the empty darkness, waiting for Alpha to start speaking.
"You're a moron Lance" Alpha's voice came, and Lance lazily looked underneath him to see Alpha standing on nothingness and crossing his arms. "Mhm" Lance responded looking away, feeling gravity starting to weigh down on him and his back softly hitting the nowhere to be seen floor. Alpha just stared down at him and sighed, already knowing this conversation won't go anywhere if Lance keeps acting like that.
"You know you have to talk to Keith eventually right?" Alpha stated and Lance just rolled over and shook his head. "Well, if you won't, I will" Alpha said, and Lance snapped his head up at him, seeing as Alpha's body started to fade. "What are you doing?" Lance asked quickly as Alpha disappeared. "Something you obviously can't" Alpha's voice echoed through the mindscape and Lance quickly got up to his feet. "You better fucking not" Lance snapped, but his physical body was already moving, and he could only watch as the hallway appeared and Alpha walked down the familiar hallway towards Keith's room.
Alpha could feel Lance pounding at the back of his head, but he only ignored it, honestly tired of this cat and mouse chase. Sure, Alpha had more of a disliking towards Keith now due to the events that occurred during that one particular night, but Alpha's been living with Lance with his entire life, and him being all depressed won't fix anything. Lance may not know it yet, but his feelings towards Keith are more important to him than he might think, so Alpha had to sort this out before it gets stretched out even further.

Keith did try talking to Omega and reasoning with him, but Omega was by all means pissed about being drugged away. He even attempted to hurt Hunk, but Keith luckily got in the way before that could happen. Omega also despised Lance at this point, always wanting to move away whenever he got close, but seemed happy to see how Lance was already avoiding Keith. Keith on the other hand was not happy about the whole Lance avoiding him thing. This morning when he had walked out of the training deck, he almost bumped into Lance on the way out, but the moment Lance made eye contact with him, he spun back around the corner.
It was starting to become stressful on how this was going, it was ruining the already broken relationship Keith has with Lance, and Keith has debated if he should get another dose of that shot Hunk gave him, but every time he's thought about it Omega gave him a pounding headache that wouldn't leave until ten minutes after he's stopped thinking about it. Apparently it was 'Keith's punishment for being rebellious', as Omega had put into words.
A knock on his door snapped him out of his thoughts instantly. Omega snapped at him, telling him not to let anyone in but Keith just ignored him and muttered a 'Come in'. When the door open though was when both Omega and Keith lost their shit.
"Lance?" Keith asked, fear slipping through his voice without intentionally wanting it to. Lance stood there, not responding. No, it wasn't Lance, he seemed off, it was someone else. Omega screamed at the back of his mind to tell him to leave but Keith continued to ignore him. "What do you want" Keith said, his voice going cold, knowing that it didn't matter because he wasn't actually talking to Lance.
"I'm just here to deliver Lance to you" 'Lance' said, and Omega was already fighting for control at this point, moments away from ripping everything into shreds. "Wait, don't let Lance take over yet" Keith said quickly, grabbing onto Lance's arm and walking out of the room. His pounding headache started to itch at the back of his head as he headed to the infirmary, along with Omega's non-stop screaming.
Once Keith made it to the room, he felt like he couldn't even think anymore with the headache making him dizzy, but he still made it inside the room. He reached for the cabinet and opened it, grabbing the needle quickly and giving it to Lance's Alpha. Once it was gone from his hands he sat down onto the infirmary bed whilst Lance's Alpha stared at him.
"Can you inject that for me? I can't at the moment" Keith said, and 'Lance' nodded, not asking questions. Keith tried to stay still and focus so that the needle won't hurt him to much, but he accidently jerked his arm when the needle made contact with him. But a little pain wouldn't hurt anyone now would it.
Keith felt the headache melt away along with Omega. He sighed out of relief, leaning back and hitting the wall as he relaxed. "Thank you" He muttered and 'Lance' just nodded and sat beside him. "I'm going to let Lance talk to you now, make sure he doesn't try to escape" Lance's Alpha said, and Keith just nodded and sat back up.
Keith felt relieved when he sensed Lance was back, but Lance just looked away from him, eyeing the door. He flinched when he felt Keith's hand rest on top of his and looked back at him. Keith noticed Lance's eyes seeming to become glossy as he stared at him. Only did Keith realize they were tears when one had escaped and rolled down Lance's face. Keith quickly pulled Lance into a tight hug, and he heard the soft sob when Lance rested his head on his shoulder as he hugged back.
They just sat like that, in silence, not words spoken and only soft sobs to be heard. Keith started rubbing Lance's back in comfort, feeling a wave of sadness wash through him as he did. He wasn't the type to cry, but he couldn't help but let a few silent tears fall from his face.

About half an hour passed, but it felt like an eternity to both Lance and Keith. Lance had stopped crying, but neither boys pulled away from the hug, both fearing of what would come next if they did. So, they sat there, in each other's embrace for however long it took for both of them to calm down.
Lance eventually pulled back, keeping his hands to rest on Keith's shoulders as he stared down at the white sheets. The silence between them was peaceful, one wrong word could shatter it instantly, so both boys kept quiet.
Keith moved his hand to Lance's face, lifting it up to look at him. Lance tried to avoid eye contact, but Keith cupped at his face with one of his hands and he couldn't help but look. A weak smile was plastered on Keith's face, as he looked around Lance's face, barely keeping eye contact, and Lance just cracked a smile back. He placed his hand over Keith's, and eye contact was finally held between the two.
"I'm sorry" were the words that broke the silence, it came from Keith, whose smiling was slowly starting to fade. Lance knew it wasn't the time to argue, so he kept his opinion to himself for now, "I am too".
Lance kept his smile, but it had a sadness to it now. Keith returned the smile, sadness shown in his smile as well, but something else showed in his eyes. Lance could see the emotion clearly, as he was starting to realize it within him too.
His eye's flicked to the smile, then back to Keith's eyes. Keith's smiled faded once again, but so did Lance's. He leaned forward slightly, and Keith did the same. The warmth of each other's breath brushed against their lips. Their noses touched for second, before Lance titled his head. Keith's eyes fluttered shut and Lance's followed.
Their lips connected into a soft kiss. It was way better than the one they shared a few weeks ago, it was glorious compared to their first one. It was a hesitant kiss, as both boys didn't exactly know why they were doing this, or how they were supposed to be feeling. But all they knew was that this was what felt best. And nothing about this was wrong, and no one could tell them otherwise.
