FOURTEEN.

FOURTEEN

Her father drove the car off the motorway.

"I still don't understand why this is happening," Cleo says, her hand was outside of the window, waving through the wind as the car drove.

"Because its for the business, sweetheart," Her father says from the seat in front of her.

"The business my ass," Harry mutters from beside Cleo.

Their mother throws both her children a glare.

"Both of you, quit it," She says, before turning back round to face the windscreen.

"This is bullshit," Harry mutters and Cleo silently agrees with him.

It was bullshit, it was stupid, how could her parents want to move house?

She wasn't really thinking about anything but Simon, how she told him she loved him and how he kissed and touched her so delicately, but he created a fire on her skin. Simon Minter was special to her, she had to see it through that his father was arrested. She gulps, eyes shifting from the scenery out the window, she brings her hand back inside and winds up the window.

"What about my A Levels?"

"We'll get you into the local college and you can continue them there," Her mother says and Cleo sighs deeply.

"But my friends-"

"Darling you haven't had Sapphire and Claire round in weeks, plus I spoke to Sapphire's mother. Apparently you're dating someone,"

Her father let out a deep breath.

"Who is he?" Her father asks and Harry squints his eyes towards Cleo.

"Simon, he's called Simon," Cleo breathes.

"I knew it," Harry smiles, he seemed proud of himself for guessing.

"Its nothing major," Cleo mutters and her father shakes his head.

"I told you boys bring babies so stick to books," He says, waving his hand in front of him.

"I do stick to books, what me and Simon have...Isn't like what you're thinking," Cleo says and Harry smirks under his hand.

When their parents begin to engage in a different conversation, Harry reaches forwards, pointing at a purple bruise on Cleo's slighlty exposed collar bone. She rolls her eyes and pulls her jumper up, she twists her body as best she can to face the window.

How could she move away from Simon at such a critical point?

The car turned and came to a steady stop, they were here. It had taken them 2 hours to arrive and the whole place looked homely enough, it was clearly a middle class area, fancy, large houses and posh cars pulled up on the driveways.

"I don't like it," Harry says as they climb out of the car.

"Quit moaning," Their father says.

"George this house is gorgeous," Their mother smiles.

"Isn't it just, Kathy?" He grins proudly.

As the couple walked towards the house Cleo glanced around her, this place looked like her dream home, she loved the look of it, it was gorgeous- but it didn't make her want to drop everything she had and move in.

"Come on you two," George calls over his shoulder.

The estate agent was waiting at the door, a wide smile on his lips. Harry and Cleo remained silent throughout the whole of the house tour. Cleo thought it was a beautiful home, but it wasn't her home.

"What do you guys think?" The estate agent asks the family as the leave the house.

"Its brilliant, we'll be by your office later this week to sign the documents," George grins.

"Fantastic, have a lovely day," The woman smiles, shaking both Kathy and George's hands.

The children climb into the car and their parents soon follow.

"What an amazing house," Kathy breathes, her smile stretched across her face.

"I don't want to move," Harry protests.

"Well its not about what you want, Harry, its about the business," His mother snaps and Harry just rolls his eyes, pulls up his hood and folds his arms.

"I'd like to know how you're affording all this?" Cleo questions, she was still curious.

"I got a promotion," Her father says as he pulls away from the house.

"Yes, and I'm on the road to a promotion," Kathy tells her and Cleo leans back against her seat, she felt uncomfortable, as if her parents were lying to her when they probably weren't.

The journey home is long and boring for the twins sat in the back of the car, but when they get home they both go to their rooms. Harry goes straight to his video games and Cleo finishes off some boring homework.

As she sits there tapping her fingers against the desk, thinking about what else she could write in her essay, her phone buzzed. She turned it over and glanced at the text message. It was Simon. It had been a week since she'd lost her virginity to him in the shed just outside in her back garden.

From Simon:
Hey Cleo
I had a text from Harry saying you
told him we were dating?
what was his reaction? i don't want
to get beat up x

To Simon:
He just smirked and said 'i knew it' x

From Simon:
You okay? x

To Simon:
We need to talk
but can we please do it tomorrow

From Simon:
Whats wrong with right now?
i can be at your house in minutes?

To Simon:
Don't come to the house

From Simon:
How about the shed?
or will going in there make you want
to repeat what happened last time? x

To Simon:
Theres a mcdonalds a few roads away
do you know it?

From Simon:
Yeah???

To Simon:
Meet me there x

Cleo stood up and pulled on her coat, she pushed her phone into her pocket as well as her house keys before heading downstairs. She tried to be as quiet as possible as she opened the front door, and to her surprise she escaped the house with no issues.

She walked hastily towards the McDonalds she'd mentioned to Simon, the big logo lit up the street below and Cleo could see Simon resting his back against the wall, hood pulled over his head.

"Hey," He says as she approaches.

"Hey," She replies softly. The pair head inside and Simon takes Cleo's order before she walks off to find them a table to sit at.

Simon returns a few minutes later with the food, he slides Cleo's towards her before sitting opposite her at the table.

"What is it we needed to talk about?" Simon asks after he's eaten a fry.

"I've been, I've been told we're moving house," Cleo says before sipping on her strawberry milkshake.

"And?" Simon asks, a simple shrug of his shoulders show he's not concerned.

"The house is 2 hours away," Cleo breathes and Simon pauses as he is about to bite into his burger.

"Two hours?" He asks, replacing his burger into the box.

"Yeah...That was my reaction too...We went to view the place today, and my parents are dead set on moving in over the summer holidays, which is literally weeks away," Cleo says, exasperated.

"Well...What do you want me to say?"

"I don't know," Cleo snaps, dropping her half eaten chicken nugget into the box.

"Cleo...You can't stop your parents moving, they're not going to listen to you- plus whats your reason for staying? Huh? Me?"

"Simon, you mean so much to me-"

"Yeah, but its not a good enough excuse for your dumbass parents, is it?" Simon says bluntly and Cleo lets a deep sigh.

"I just wanted to tell you," Cleo says and Simon nods.

"Its only a 2 hour distance, we could get the train or, or learn to drive or something," Simon says and Cleo nods miserably.

"I just wanted to finish my A levels at school," She says and Simon chuckles.

"You can still do that right? Is there a college near to where your new place is?" Simon asks and Cleo nods.

"My mom and dad even double checked they do the A Level's I'm doing," Cleo says and Simon smiles.

"It'll be fine," Simon says, attempting to reassure her.

"I hope you're right, Simon,"
