One day I will stop falling in love with you.
Until I do, I'll be thinking of you.

ON THE UPPER EAST SIDE OF MANHATTAN, newlyweds Sally Jackson and Gabriel Ugliano find a perfectly cheap apartment in a charming brownstone building. It must've been destiny, or fate, or one of those immaculate conceptions that they couldn't understand, but recently divorced Yulissa Polanco moves in next door with her children as well—and the woman is acquainted with men like Ugliano. She was married to one, after all. And if God believes Yulissa will leave Sally Jackson at the mercy of her abusive husband, then He is sorely mistaken.
It marked the beginning of a friendship, woven with blood and bruises, hidden beneath a layer of foundation. It only made sense that this love would extend to their children.
Wilmarie Dulce Velazquez-Polanco and Perseus Jackson met when they were one year old and unable to stand. They grew together, learning to walk by holding each other's hands and never quite letting go. Their connection was unbreakable, like an invisible thread connecting their hearts.
Everything changed when Percy started attending Yancy Academy and went missing seemingly overnight. Then Gabe disappeared, and the Jackson family never returned.
Their apartment is emptied and up for rent.
The string snapped.
Con Dios, Yulissa lamented, and they pretend to move on.
Until Percy and Wilmarie unexpectedly cross paths on the subway.
OR;
The hero of Olympus believed he had everything he could ever want—until he saw her again. Now, all he wonders is: Can two souls entwined in different realms find a way to overcome the tragedies that have torn them apart?
⌗ CHARACTER: WILMARIE DULCE VELAZQUEZ POLANCO
﹨﹨─── SONG: Te sigo amando BY Juan Gabriel //
❛ I wish you happiness wherever you are, love. I don't care that you will never return to me. I wish, my love, for you to know that I love you—that I haven't forgotten you; I never could. I loved you too much, and that was my mistake. ❜
⌗ CHARACTER: PERCY JACKSON
﹨﹨─── SONG: La nave del olvido BY José José //
❛ Wait, I still have many joys to give to you. I give you my life in exchange for staying here. Wait, I wouldn't comprehend my tomorrow if you were to go, and even if you were just pretending to love me, I'd gladly accept it. Even if you didn't love me, I would adore you all the same. ❜
⌗ CHARACTER: SALLY JACKSON
﹨﹨─── SONG: La gata bajo la lluvia BY Rocío Dúrcal //
❛Love, calm down, I won't bother you. My luck is gone, I know, and I know that there is a torrent circling in your mind. Love, our love was only a coincidence—the same time, the same boulevard. Can't you see, life's always been that way. You leave, and I stay right here. Rain will fall and I won't be yours. I'll be the cat caught in the downpour. ❜
⌗ CHARACTER: YULISSA TERESA POLANCO
﹨﹨─── SONG: Dime Tú BY Ricardo Arjona //
❛And tell me, where does the past go, the one that left without a sin? Tell me if I have any future, if there's a clearing in this darkness. I light you up and take a risk if there's a chance in the present. Tell me if I have any future, tell me.❜
❛I'm just trying to understand what I am to you.
More than songs we've exchanged;
midnight calls, sunset views.❜

Main themes, such as generational trauma cycles, impoverishment, teen pregnancy, and abuse, will appear frequently. I'm basing the Velazquez-Polanco family on my own experiences as a Hispanic immigrant in New York City; if you can't relate, I apologize! I hope that you are still able to connect with the characters and their stories on a human level.
Structural note:
Yulissa and Sally's chapters will be entirely in the past, while Percy and Wilmarie's story will unfold in both the past and present, intertwining their experiences. I want to explore how these relationships have shaped the characters' lives and influenced their choices!
Also, Sally Jackson will be a main character, finally!
Another major point is Percy's realization that he is nothing without his title of a hero in a secret realm. Yes, Percy, you still have to pay rent; No, Percy, killing monsters doesn't waive your patriotic duty of paying taxes.
Either way, I'm so excited!
Thank you all future readers! Let me know your opinions on everything, and until the next update, bye-bye!
