Chapter Thirty-Seven: MediMen's Town
Arthur and Tiyasha, carrying Shivam and Josh in their arms, reached the MediMen's Town in about ten minutes.
"Let's stop here," Arthur said abruptly, and quit running in the midst of an empty street. Tiyasha halted, and Took bumped into her from behind. "Ou," Took said.
Arthur took a look around him. The weight of Shivam in his arms seemed to be getting heavier by the second. Tall and narrow buildings surrounded them. All were white in colour, and all had very few and very small windows. Not a human being was in sight.
"Where's everyone?" Tiyasha voiced what Arthur was thinking. She hoped that this town wouldn't turn out to be dangerous like that village in which they had been almost caught by Infernos. Now that seemed to have taken place a thousand years ago.
"Let's walk," Arthur said, and started trotting along the street, followed by Tiyasha and Took. Soon they turned a corner and came face to face with two middle aged men, dressed in green robes, and holding hands.
The men jumped, turned, and made as if they wanted to run. Tiyasha noticed that they weren't holding hands anymore. 'Odd,' she had time to think, even in all the confusion and terror.
"Wait! We need your help!" Arthur shouted.
But the men weren't listening. They started running madly and blindly, as if their lives depended on it.
Arthur still had the remnants of some popcorns in his mouth. Cleverly, he had been sucking them, instead of chewing. Arthur ran, and within a second, blocked the path of the men in green robes.
"Witchcraft! The Infernos have learned Witchcraft!" The men howled, and began crying, surprising everyone.
"We're not Infernos. We're their enemies. And if you don't like Infernos, you should help us. This guy I'm carrying in my arms...he holds withing himself the secret of defeating Blikrot," Arthur said, calm and composed.
The strange men looked at Shivam's face. "People's hope," one of them whispered. The other nodded.
"You know him?" Tiyasha asked from behind them, surprised.
"Who doesn't? His face is all over the capture paintings. Come with us," one of the green robed men said.
They entered one of the tall white buildings and climbed the stairs up to the third floor. One of the strange men walked up to a closed wooden door and placed his palm on it. The door opened readily. "Come in," he said. Tiyasha and Arthur looked at each other, then shrugged and entered.
They walked along a corridor, then turned right through a door, and came to a fairly large room with a king-sized bed in it. The room had white walls and lemon yellow window curtains. "This is our bedroom. My name is John. This is my friend Bell," one of the green robed men said, gesturing toward the other.
Tiyasha and Arthur gently placed Shivam and Josh on the bed. Took flew towards Josh and perched on one side of the bed.
"That dragon isn't dangerous?" The man named Bell asked.
"No. He's Josh's pet. That poisoned kid," Arthur said.
"That kid's a Raiser?" John asked, surprised.
"No, Shivam's the Raiser. Look, can you please save their lives? You're Medimen, right?" Arthur said.
John sat beside Shivam, looked at his viciously injured throat, took his pulse, and shook is head. Then he went over to Josh and checked him up. "What was he bitten by?"
Tiyasha looked at Arthur in a worried manner. She wasn't sure whether they should tell the Medimen the truth. But Arthur decided they didn't have any other option. "Josh was bitten by a giant spider which had a human head," he said. "And Shivam here was bitten by a pitch black two headed dog-like beast."
John and Bell looked at Arthur incredulously. Silence reigned for a few seconds. Then John said, "Well, Josh here can be cured, doesn't matter what poisoned him. But Shivam..."
"What about him?" Tiyasha asked, arrogant.
"He's dead," John said quietly.
