Ch. 11 Hogwarts Express

Lucius escorts Ruby out of the library and takes her to the living room, where Narcissa, Draco, and Harry await them.

Harry's emerald green eyes widened with curiosity when he spotted a Diary in Ruby's embrace.

" Sorry for the wait. I had to give Ruby a gift before she departs for Hogwarts," Lucius looks at Narcissa and the two young Wizards.

Draco raised an eyebrow when he saw the Dairy in Ruby's embrace. He glanced at Harry and saw that the other young Wizard looked confused about Lucius giving Ruby a gift.

Ruby approaches her belongings and grabs her purse on top of her school supplies. She puts the Diary inside and walks up to Harry and Draco. She saw them looking at her purse with curiosity.

" It's a Family Heirloom that my Head of the Family gave to Lord Malfoy to protect," She explained.

Harry and Draco nodded. They understood since they learned from Lucius that Wizarding Families treasure their Family Heirlooms.

" Let's get going before the Hogwarts Express leaves," Narcissa looks at the children.

Ruby, Harry, and Draco nodded.

They watched Lucius use magic to shrink the children's school supplies and put them in his suit pocket. They turned and saw Narcissa grab the green Floo Powder and throw it in the fireplace, watching the flames turn orange to green.

" Let's go, children," Narcissa ushers the three children into the fireplace.

The three children stood behind Narcissa and Lucius. Ruby stood between Harry and Draco as they got engulfed by the green flames, and they disappeared after hearing Lucius say Hogwarts Express.

The fireplace at a train station in the Wizarding World glowed, and the group walked out. Lucius walked out first, and Narcissa followed behind him. Harry and Draco looked at one another and nodded. They walked out next, and then Ruby followed, the last to step out of the fireplace.

" What is this place?" Ruby asked, looking around while catching up with Harry and Draco.

Harry slowed his pace so that Ruby could insert her arm around his.

" We are at King's Cross Station in London, England. Like Diagon Alley, we have a portal that can take us from the Muggle Train Station to a Wizarding Counterpart," Draco explains, slowing his pace so he can walk beside Harry and Ruby.

Lucius and Narcissa walk out of the train station and onto the public area, where Wizarding Families say goodbye to their children as they board the Hogwarts Express for their journey to Hogsmeade Village.

Lucius takes out the children's belongings from his suit pocket. He used magic to make it grow and lifted it off the ground so it could float and follow behind them.

Ruby and Harry looked at the magic in awe. They smiled, excited to learn various types of spells and whatnot.

Narcissa escorts the children near the entrance of the Hogwarts Express. She turns and hugs each one, kissing the tops of their heads.

" Keep in touch, okay. We will see you for Yule," She smiled at the children.

" Thank you for letting us live with you during the summer," Ruby curtseyed.

Harry nodded with the same sentiment.

" You two are always welcome at the Malfoy Manor. Now have a good school year and keep one another safe," Narcissa looks at the three children.

" Yes, Mother," Draco nodded. " Come on, Harry. Ruby. Let's go get the best cabins," he smiled.

" Okay!" Ruby smiled while Harry nodded.

" See you three for Yule," Lucius waved after giving the school supplies to an employee.

Draco, Harry, and Ruby waved and got onto the train. The three looked at their surroundings, seeing hallways filled with children ages 11 to 17.

" Let's go see where to sit," Draco nudges the two children to follow him as they walk through the sea of children who were chatting, giggling, and hugging each other as they overheard conversations about summer vacation, nervous jitters about being a first-year student, or annoyance about upcoming NEWTs or OWLs.

" Ruby! Mio caro!" Eleven-year-old Blaise Zabini waved, spotting Ruby immediately among the crowd because of her curly, deep red hair. [Translation: Ruby! My Darling!]

" Blaise!" Ruby smiled, seeing her new friend, whom she had befriended during the summer through Draco.

Ruby lets go of Harry and runs through the crowd to Blaise.

Harry and Draco looked at one another amusingly before chasing after Ruby to keep her from getting hurt by the busy crowd.

Blaise walks towards Ruby, leaving his best friend, eleven-year-old Theodore Nott, by their cabin's entrance.

" So happy to see you!" Ruby hugs Blaise.

Blaise hugs Ruby tightly.

" I am happy to see you as well, Amica!" He let go of Ruby and smiled. [Translation: Friend in feminine tone]

" How's your Mother?" Ruby asked, looking at Blaise.

She befriended Blaise's mother, Lady Amara Zabini, at one of Narcissa's tea parties during the summer. The two Witches got along by talking about Potions, like how to make someone sleep, paralyzed, or sick.

" Mother is doing well. She wanted me to give you something," Blaise sees Harry and Draco and nods at them.

" Oh?" Ruby tilted her head, surprised that Lady Amara Zabini had gotten her a gift.

" Yes, follow me," Blaise wraps an arm around Ruby's shoulder and escorts her to a cabin.

Harry and Draco followed them to the cabin.

" Theo," Ruby greeted when she saw Theodore sitting by the window.

" Lady Rose-Potter," Theodore greeted formally with a nod when he saw Ruby.

Blaise sits with Ruby, and he pulls out a black cloth from his pant pocket.

" This gift is for you from my mother. She says you can use it as an accessory or," He leans and whispers to Ruby. " as a weapon."

Ruby opens the cloth, revealing sharp, beautiful ruby rose hairpins.

" It's beautiful," Ruby smiled, admiring the hairpin. " Can you put it in my hair?" She asked.

Blaise nodded, putting the hairpins in Ruby's curly, deep red hair.

Harry and Draco entered the cabin and saw Blaise putting something in Ruby's hair.

" What are you doing?" Harry asked with a raised eyebrow.

" He's putting a hairpin that his mother gave me on my hair," Ruby explained when she saw Harry looking at Blaise, who had his hands on her hair.

" Ah," Harry nodded as he and Draco sat in the cabin beside Theodore. " Theodore," He greeted.

" Lord Potter," Theodore nodded.

Blaise and Ruby comfortably sat beside each other while Draco closed the door.

" What class are you excited to take?" Blaise asked, looking at Ruby.

" Herbology and Potion," Ruby responded with a smile. " What about you?" She asked.

" Same subjects. Eager to learn all kinds of flowers and potions I can brew and use," Blaise nodded.

The group conversed with one another about various topics, such as Hogwarts Houses, its Subjects, and Professional Quidditch Tournaments.

Ruby smiled when she saw Harry getting comfortable with the other Wizards as he asked them about the various Professional Quidditch Teams.

She decided to check out the Diary that she had in her purse. She pulls it out and opens it, seeing a written sentence.

" Who are you?" She reads.

" My name is Ruby Rose," Ruby writes her name with an inked feather Quill.

The young Witch stopped walking and stood a foot from Tom. She opened her mouth, and a voice echoed softly. Her words carried a brightness and warmth that seemed to counter the oppressive shadows that enveloped Tom's solitary existence.

" Ruby Rose? Your name has a certain elegance to it." Tom says.

" Thank you. May I ask what your name is?" Ruby asked.

" My name is Tom Marvolo Jr," Tom replied.

His eyes blinked when he saw Ruby's eyebrows rise, and her deep sapphire blue eyes widened before she composed herself.

" What day is it?" Ruby asked, tilting her head.

" Today is September 1, 1942; I am starting my 5th year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry." Tom turns and looks at the Hogwarts replica.

Ruby's hands tightly grasped the Dairy, looking at the last response with mixed emotions.

' So this Diary possesses the young soul of the Head of my Wizarding Family?' She asks internally. ' This Family Heirloom of mine is very interesting,' she bites her inner cheek.

" How intriguing. Today is September 1, 1991. I am starting my 1st year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry." Ruby responded, causing Tom to look at her with mixed emotions.

" What do you mean that today is September 1, 1991? That is like forty-nine years into the future..." Tom counted.

Ruby's sapphire blue eyes intently stared at Tom's eyes.

" Are you from the future?" Tom realized.

Ruby looked at Tom knowingly.

" How?!" Tom walked to the left and right. " That means I would have been sixty-four, almost sixty-five, on December 1991." He pales, brushing his hair back with his right hand.

' So, that's how old my Family Head is,' Ruby internally says while looking at what young Tom Riddle wrote.

" Do you remember what happened to you?" Ruby asked, looking at Tom curiously.

Tom's eyes blinked, and he looked at Ruby curiously.

" All I remember is waking up in this lonesome place resembling Hogwarts. I should be starting my fifth year this year. But if you say it's been forty-nine years, I don't even know how long I have been in this dreadful place," Tom says, looking distraught.

Ruby looked at the Diary worryingly since she could sense the unease in the writing.

' If Lord Slytherin-Gaunt is currently sixty-four after he disappeared ten years ago in 1981, that must mean he put a part of his soul in this Diary as a way to keep himself alive in case something ever happened to him.' Ruby internally realized.

" Someone gave me this Diary because we are family," Ruby revealed.

" Diary? Family?" Tom looked at Ruby in disbelief but could see the honesty in her deep sapphire blue eyes.

" Yes," Ruby nodded.

" Do you know how I got placed in this Diary and how we are related?" Tom asked, surprised that the beautiful Young Witch before him was related to him.

Ruby looked at her surroundings, seeing Blaise asleep against the window, Theodore reading a book, and Draco and Harry playing a game. She looked out the window and was surprised that the Hogwarts Express left the train station. She didn't even realize that time had passed since she conversed deeply with her new friend.

Harry's emerald green eyes blinked when he saw Ruby looking confused with the Diary open in her left hand and holding an ink feather Quill in her right hand.

" Everything okay, Ruby?" He asked, causing Ruby to look at him.

" I am surprised that time has passed," Ruby says. " I thought we were still at the train station," She blushes.

" You were writing so much in that book of yours that I told the boys not to interrupt you," Harry explained.

" Ah," Ruby nodded in response. She closed the Diary for the time being and put it in her purse. She contemplated and wondered how to explain his future to Young Tom Riddle and how they are related.
