We Are So Screwed (Ch.14)
~Jerome's pov~
I had fallen asleep some time in the middle of the night. I woke up the next morning with Mitch still sound asleep. I smiled, he looked cute, he was snuggled up in the blankets. I got up and had a shower. Mitch was still asleep. I shrugged it off as nothing. I went down and made us breakfast. I looked inside my cabinets.
That is when I started to worry. I was so drunk last night I didn’t realize how much we drank, and Mitch, he was such a lightweight. I ran upstairs to go check on him and hes still in bed. Seeming asleep. I hurried over and checked on him. He was breathing but it was bad. I called Adilie.
“Alright Jerome, stay calm and clean Mitch up, I will come over as soon as possible but its gonna take about 2-3 hours. Just stay calm and try cleaning up.”
“Please hurry Ad.”
“I am and I’m bringing somebody that can help, you just have to stay calm for Mitch. You can do this, and he is gonna be fine.”
I hung up with Ad and just watched Mitch. I knew he had alcohol poisoning. I just knew it, he didn’t wake up. I was in shock. What had I done??
It was about an hour later when the phone rang bringing me back to my senses.
“Hello?” I ask slowly still coming out of my shocked daze.
“Jerome, come on, get up and help him. Clean him up, we will be there soon. He's really gonna need you right now.” Adilie stated.
“Ok Adilie.”
Adilie was right. I finally stood up and picked up my love. I carried him to the bathroom and set him in the tub carefully. I let some water start to fill up the bottom of the tub. I didn’t let it get too high, just about 3-4 inches. I started to gently rub a rag over Mitch and kept the water warm.
While I washed him, Adilie called again, but it wasn’t her. Her grandmother said to keep the steam on him and keep rubbing his back. The best way to just help him breath and get some moisture into his body to help lessen the alcohol content. So I did as I was told until they finally showed up. Adilie had her own key so she let herself in.
Gram (Adilie's Grandmother which everyone just calls Gram) had sent Adilie downstairs telling her to get some juices and water. Gram used to be a nurse before she retired. And of course... I was kicked out.
~Time Skippers of Dread and Anticipation....~
Adilie had forced me to eat about 3 hours ago. It hurt to eat, knowing my love is suffering.
Gram came down 2 hours ago for a minute break to eat herself.
1 hour ago I heard a groan come from upstairs.
Now I hear somebody running down the stairs. "Don't fall!" I yelled up stairs just to try and lighten the mood.
~Adilie’s POV~
As I ran downstairs, I heard Jerome yell "Don't fall!"
"Shut up Jerome!! This is serious! Mitch has woken up, it wasn’t for long though.. but he is gonna be ok. We got fluid in him the normal way which was good.” I said once I got downstairs. Jerome hugged me before I could finish.
“But hang on and don’t hate me. Gram says he is still pretty bad and considering we could not get as much water in him as we needed to while he was awake, his best chance at coming up soon is to get him in the hospital for an IV.”
"But won’t they yell at me cause I didn’t do that right away?”
“No. Because Gram will get you out of it. You know you can trust her.”
He nodded and I took him upstairs to see Mitch who we had taken to the guest bedroom and dressed in pajamas to keep him warm.
“He has thrown up several times. And that isn’t good, the fluid needs to stay in him.” Gram says in a deathly serious tone. We both nodded and took Mitch to the hospital.
I was a nervous wreck. I started to pet his head and hum. It was the Endstone song he made. I can't get it out of my head. As I was petting him, that's when I realized his hair if so fluffy and soft. It was just how I imagined a baby bacca would feel like. On the way there he made the occasional grunt or squeak... It was just adorable.
