It had been almost 11 years since Garrett Shimmer had become an alicorn and received his ability to look into possible alternate timelines through dreams. Raphael and Sunset's children were now 12 going on 13. It was another typical weekday morning at the Hamato household. Raphael and Sunset were eating breakfast at the dining table with their children Summer and Nova. But Nova was eating at a slower pace than usual, almost deep in thought. It reminded Raphael of when his brother Donatello would barely eat anything because he would be deep in thought of a new invention, or something else. Sunset also noticed that Nova was eating slower than usual. "Nova sweetie, are you okay?" Sunset asked with mild concern. When Nova wouldn't answer, Summer said, "hey Earth to Nova, Mom's talking to you!" Nova's mind got out of the clouds and he said, "huh? Oh yeah, I'm fine. Just thinking is all."

"Alright buddy, your mom and I are just concerned is all," said Raphael. "Sorry Dad, I just had a strange dream is all," said Nova. "What kind of dream was it?" Sunset asked curiously. Nova hesitated and said, "I don't know if I want to tell you Mom, because it might make you feel uncomfortable... But it felt so real... Dad, after school, could I please visit Uncle Garrett? I feel like he might be the only one who knows what it's like to have dreams that are incredibly realistic." Summer butted in, "why don't you want to tell us?"

"Now Summer, when a person doesn't feel comfortable saying something, we shouldn't snoop into their business," said Sunset as she crossed her arms. "Trust me, I was worse than her at that age," joked Raphael, "of course I can take you to Equestria to see Uncle Garrett, Nova. When I'm done with training today, I'll pick you up after school and take you to the portal." Nova smiled and said, "thanks Dad." Sunset smiled and said, "tell Garrett and Twilight we say hi." Raph nodded and said, "will do."

The school day came and passed and soon, school was over for Nova and Summer. The older twin sister agreed to take the bus home while Raph would take Nova to Canterlot High School. Raph was outside the middle school, waiting for his son. Nova wandered over to his father and Raph said, "hey buddy. How was school?" The father and son got in the car and Nova replied, "it was good. Dream's still fresh in my mind." Raphael started the car and said, "trust me, your Uncle Donnie and your Uncle Mikey know what it's like to have dreams that feel realistic. Of course, your uncles were experiencing memories from their past lives." Raph then drove all the way to Canterlot High School and parked the car. He and Nova got out the car and wandered over to the portal that was posing as a statue of the school's mascot. "You ready son?" Raphael asked Nova. The boy nodded and said, "I'm ready." The two then leaped into the portal, and a couple minutes later, Raphael and Nova were inside the throne room of Equestria. Nova was now in his unicorn form, and Raph helped him up on his hooves. Raphael and Nova then got out of the room with the magic mirror and wandered around the kingdom. "Where do you think Uncle Garrett might be?" Nova asked. "I don't know," replied Raph, "for all I know, he and your Aunt Twilight might be with your cousins." Suddenly, from the music room, Garrett Shimmer came out. "I thought I heard a noise," said Garrett. He smiled when he saw his brother-in-law and nephew. "Hey Garrett," said Raphael. "Uncle Garrett!" Nova said, running to his uncle and hugging him. Garrett wrapped his wings around Nova in a hug. "Hello Nova," he gently, "hey Raph. I got to say, I didn't expect you two to show up. It is good to see you, old friend. It's a welcome surprise."

"Your sister says hi," said Raphael, "where's your wife and kids?" Once Nova was finished hugging, Garrett replied, "Logan's doing some reading. Tara's playing with Flurry Heart and her friends. Twilight, well, she's doing her royal responsibilities." Raph smirked and said, "you're just the stallion we were looking for." The three gentlemen walked around the kingdom and Garrett asked, "what can I do for you two?" Nova hesitated and asked, "Uncle Garrett, you know what it's like to have a dream that feels realistic, right?" Garrett nodded and said, "I have experienced visions of possible alternate timelines that could have happened through dreams. I have told you, your father, your mother, and many other family members of these visions. I have used them whenever your Aunt Twilight and I speak with other nations for diplomatic relations. So yes, I know what it's like." Nova looked up at Garrett and said,"I think I might know what your gift is like, Uncle Garrett. I had a dream last night that felt so realistic."

"What was the dream about?" Garrett asked, "let's go to the dining room so we can discuss this." As they went to the dining room, Nova explained, "I know that Aunt Twilight cast a spell that sent Dad through time and prevented Mom from killing herself. It's practically how they met." Raph shrugged and said, "it's true." Garrett nodded and said, "and it is a great debt that I can never repay. We remain grateful that you saved Sunset, Raphael." Nova looked at Garrett and explained, "in this dream I had, I saw what would have happened if you and Capper had escaped from The Storm King's prison a couple months earlier... You're meeting with Princess Celestia, Princess Luna, and Aunt Twilight would have remained the same, but it would be different after that." Garrett listened and replied, "tell us everything that you remember all the way from the beginning..."
